    2. I met a young girl in a certain children's hospital where I was doing my housejob, she was 23years and was taking care of her baby with her mother. She begged me not to disclose her status to her husband, she was worried the child had come down with the virus cos we advised her not to breastfeed but because she didn't want to raise suspicions so she went ahead to breastfeed without giving the child the usual daily drug. This also goes a long way to show the irresponsibility of Nigerian men, he just strolls into the hospital when he likes without even caring to ask what was wrong with his child.

I felt so bad for him. The girl told me they were getting married that december. She has been HIV positive since 4yrs prior the time she met him and claimed she has been on medication. She went ahead to have unprotected sex with him. I asked her why she refused to tell him and all she said was that "HE WILL NOT CO OPERATE" uptil now, I still feel the chills running down. If she eventually infects him, he will get sick and probably everyone will think he is the one that even gave her the virus since she is on drugs.
She also said that afterall, he has been sleeping around so why will she tell him? I asked her if she knew of his status and she said before they started dating, he got this job and they did a free basic health assessment for them. She saw his results.
Please everyone be careful. Plus, the WHO are lifting the subsidy on antiretroviral drugs soon, I wonder how many people will be able to afford it. Even now that it is free, most people don't take them, they rather go to church where pastors tell them they will be cured. Until they are down with AIDS.

    4. Anony 13:09, men I am shocked. So she gave the child breast milk even when she knew the consequence. She has run mad o! She needs to be psychologically evaluated because she wants to kill everyone around her. I keep saying it even if the drugs are free, HIV is still a life sentence so it needs to be avoided like crazy. God help us all.

  2. Someone is having sex without protection right now somewhere in the world with someone who isn't her husband or partner.
Even married spouses pass the virus, so should they use condom too.

    1. As long as u aren't with your married spouse 24/7 u cant sincerely say that they arent doing someone on the side, therefore YES married spouses should also use condoms or preferably get testing every 4th month.... By seriously as adventurous as i am, dis disease scares the shit outta mee

I pity them sha, it's a different thing when you are aware and can be cautious and it's a different thing when you choose to be ignorant.

  6. @d last statement,so true
It's a normal occurrence over here;on a daily we keep stumbling in2 accidental diagnosis of hiv.
I use accidental cos when u ask most patient of their hiv status, they all claim to be negative bt due to medicolegal reasons *for those dt wld require transfusion or surgery* we still go ahead and do it and bam!!! D result comes out positive.
D sad irony of it all is that a greater percentage of them wld tell u not to disclose their status to their family or spouse...u no kukuma get choice than to do so bt direct d said individual to hiv counselling unit and hope they convince them to tell their spouse or family members.

Some years back, a man was being managed by our team for something and we got to find out he had hiv, told us not to tell any1 *he was newly married* coupla months later,d wife was admitted for some health issues and whilst carrying out some test,we found out she was positive as well *apparently her previous result showed she was negative* meaning d son of a bitch gave it to her without her knowledge

    1. Why do people say gays have hiv more
Isn't it still sex and blood transfusion that causes hiv??

So why do gay men have it more

      Delete
    2. Anony 12:00 very good question. I would like to know too, because it is like that all around the world. Gay people are more susceptible to it for some reason. Hmmm!

      Delete
    3. This is because of d high level of blood that comes with anal sex which homosexuals practice. Even faeces tears the anus, not to mention a penis.

      Delete
    4. Aside Bona's reasons, homosexuals are more promiscuous and experimental with their sexuality. Because they are the minority, they are more willing to cooperate with anyone willing to off.

  13. And how many men and women from white communities are unaware they have HIV?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Seems HIV is becoming resurgent, after a few years of being under control. Let the massive awareness campaigns resume. Loyalty, abstinence, carefulness about sharing sharp objects, blood transfusion etc.

Women are statistically more at risk of infection, and homosexuals. Stay safe people, life is short but can be sweet, why waste it!

  25. Yekpa! But despite this, many ppl still have unprotected sex. A man will date n fall in love with a lady and have sex with her within a week without a condom. He will feel that she Is too good to have HIV. If she can sleep with the man within a week n without condom, what makes u think she hasn't done the same with many other men. The same goes for men too.
HIV doesn't show on the face. People should stop exposing themselves to danger

FHI 360 is running a testing and counselling session in Ajeromi/ Ifelodun, Surulere, Apapa get tested and get free treatment, while its available. Don't be ashamed or frustrated. The earlier you get help the better . People die becos they don't get treated on time.

  36. If you get treatment promptly, your viral load will reduce. You can achieve your dreams n live normally.
