Doctors In House Section

Hmmmmm..

BRONCHITIS
Hello bvs,my 2 months old baby breathes as if he has catarrh but no mucus is coming out. I took him to the hospital and the dr said that it might be due to the fact that his nose was not sucked well at birth that it will clear on its own.

After a while without seeing any improvement, I took him to a pediatrician who diagnosed him of bronchitis and my baby was given some mediations. He became better though the breathing difficulty continued. I then took him to another Dr who also diagnosed him of bronchitis and my baby was given injections and medications.

He is much better now but I still feel the difficult breathing sometimes.pls has anyone been in this situation and what should I do.thanks

MALARIA IN PREGNANCY

Dear Stella, please urgent help is needed. I am in the last trimester of my pregnancy and despite taking all precautions, I tested positive to malaria. I was admitted and discharged two days ago.

Problem is my urine has been so dark and it's really scary. Please house what can I do to heal completely and have normal urine as my doctors seem not to be bothered. Thanks all

    1. I made a decree never to have malaria. And to God be the glory I've not had it since then, almost 2yra now. And I used to treat malaria like every 3 months before then. Poster 2: since u have been given drugs, just take plenty of fluid water preferably. Hope that's just all u see and are concerned with sha

  2. Poster 2: the anti malaria drug my Doctor always gives me is Chloroquine 221. No side effect.

@poster 1, stop pumping your baby with drugs. Let him outgrow it like the Doc said.

  6. The lady with dark coloured urine should drink plenty of water and see what happens. Most of the time it will solve the problem Which might be caused by dehydration. Visit a medical doctor if symptoms persist.

  7. All through my pregnancy days, I slept under treated mosquito net. I endured the heat under the net for the sake of my baby and even after delivery, up till today I still sleep under mosquito net and we don't sit outside at nite without being covered up. We hardly have malaria.

    1. NNE forget that. She shud be bothered joor. That's how I was so sure my doctors knew what dey were doing until I lost my pregnancy and later learnt I shud have been administered a drug to balance up the hormones so as to prevent the miscarriage as I was having hormonal imbalance before conceiving.

  14. Could be your baby is asthmatic.
He will be fine and the breathing will be smooth as he mature, cover him in cold weather, exclusive BF for now.

Preganat poster don't u go for antenatal?

  15. Over to the doctors in d house....Jesus fix it!

  16. Poster1---acute bronchitis is usually self limiting unless there is an underlying pathology. If ur sure ur baby is healthy, den d drugs given by d doctors shld be enough.
If worried bout his breathing pattern, then u ought to take him to d hospital or better still take him to another hospital to seek a 2nd opinion.
I hope you were attended to by a consultant and not by a junior reg?
You better do d needful ontime and fast so as to forestall irreversible lung disease.

Btw...have u ever noticed him turning blue?

*For your babies age though one wouldav thought he was suffering from bronchiolitis*

Poster2--- where were u treated? And was quinine given to you? If yes den d dark coloured urine might be as a result of d quinine what is termed blackwater fever bt if dt were to be d case,i doubt ud be ds strong 2b able to type.
Be it as it may? You need to go visit your doctor.

Bt wait o...Aren't you registered for antenatal care? Cos I doubt u are,if u were,u wldav been given IPT hence wldnt be battling wv malaria and it's complications

Poster 1.take home remedy and precautions seriously. Don't bath him at night o.once a day and wen d sun is out bathing is recommended.he WL b fine but sometimes, they need inhaler to breath well.that doesn't mean he has asthma.I m in our situation.mine started d same age as urs .he s almost 3yrs now.its reducing anyways but it comes every 3months and run its course. Mine s even worse. Keep praying for God to ease his pain. He WL outgrow it

  24. Poster one- Hope the colour of the baby's skin dosnt turn to blue? Is the breathing laboured? Hope he was treated in the hospital? When you ans these ques am sure your baby will be fine. You ought to know that Bronchitis is self limiting too, except if there is an underlying cause. As for the breathing it will correct itself. I dont know the drugs that where used but am sure they will help. You can still visit another hospital if you are not certisfied. Poster two- I guess the urine colour might be from the type of drug that was administered to you in the hospital, especially if its quinin.Well, increase your water intake and avoid self medication. But madam...didnt you register for ANC? 'cos if you did,you must have completed your IPT for malaria in preg treatment.I always advise pregy women to use mosquito treated nets.Am sure the urine will clear.safe delivery dear.

  27. the cause of your dark urine could be medications for malaria such as primaquine and chloroquine.

  28. My two babies were like that, infact my last babes breathing was even worse... all the test done on them showed nothing, not in Nigeria thou. Doctors told me they will out grow it. Which they actually did. I didn't use drugs or injections. Trust me the noise gave me lots of concern like an asthma breathing... but they are doing very well now.
