Court Sentences Applicant For Stealing Tthes Inside Church

A Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory, on Thursday, sentenced a 24-year-old applicant, Monday Patrick, to six weeks imprisonment for stealing N5,000 tithe inside a church.

The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, however, gave Patrick an option of N6,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crime.
Patrick, a resident of Aso in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, was convicted on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.

Prosecutor, John Ijagbemi, had told the court that one Ademola Adetuberu of Coza Church, Asokoro in the FCT‎, reported the matter at the Asokoro Police Station on November 24.
He said while the complainant was praying in the said church, the convict came in and stole an envelope containing the tithe from the altar.

Patrick pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
Ijagbemi said during investigation, the money was recovered from Patrick.

The offence, the prosecutor said, contravened sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

  11. Thanks Stella. Black Friday started boring until I came across this & rushed to IG. Well, some accused the lady as fake but my thought maybe NOT cause with a scorned woman you never know & men are never to be trusted. When u have a high profiled wife would you take the risk ? Men don't care anyway. Terrible embarrassing posts on her very own page. Price of fame I guess.

  15. Well.... This is not new to me.. But it's very very bad! I wonder the kind of guts people have to do such.. If I 'mistakenly' press my phone in church sef, I feel so guilty. God will help us.

There's a deacon in my church who is in the habit ofdoing this whenever he is asked to count money. Some people noticed, now, whenever he rushes to the offering box, @ least two ushers are assigned to help him 'make the counting easier'... May God have mercy!

  17. Lol.....
I remember in the late 90s, after every collective Sunday mass(esP some of the junior Mass-servers, are fond of dipping their hands in the total offerings for the day in the priests residential quarters. Because they have undue access to that place.
But unknown to them, the Urshers took record of every offering as they are being brought into the inner-room before onward transfer to the priest quarters. After recurring deductions for a whooping 5months. The parish priest set a trap and they were caught and barred. Their parents were also asked to resign from their various posts in the church organisations and committees. It was so shameful that most stopped coming to church for a long time.
And in these present day commercial-church merchants, I'm not surprise that this is happening. An hungry-ridden family man desperate to survive for some days. He allowed the devil to use him. Then again, I think todays church needs all-inclusive welfare package for their members. Just saying though, can't help but laugh. Lol, bad tins dey make person laff die.....

  19. Just imagine!!! Our judiciary system is just a joke. Stealing 5000 send a young man to prison, meanwhile those who steal billions are given chieftaincy title. Sending him to prison is waste of tax payers money. Why not send him to hours of community service to any local government monitored by someone? We are complaining about prison decongestion judges are taking petty criminals to prison.
    Crazy country.
