Should Nigeria's Constitution Be Integrated Into The School Curriculum?

Should Nigeria's constitution be integrated into the curriculum and taught as a subject in primary and secondary schools?.

The public feeling is  that government officials are getting away with their shoddy performance  at governance because the governed are largely ignorant of the responsibilities of or what to expect of their leaders.....

What do you think?

    2. Yea I think it wouldn't be a bad idea. We took a subject called "government" in high school tho.. but it entailed the general studies and the duties of the different arms of govt etc. Not the constitution per say. Then there's "civics " as a subject too.. again that was literally about rights and duties of citizenship. So I align with u, they should input the constitution into one of the aforementioned subjects to better groom students ahead of time.

  12. I love the idea... it should be included oh... Nigerians do not even know their rights and that's why all these men in uniforms toy with them... not just that, they do not know the powers of their leaders and so they let the leaders get away with almost anything... my 2 cents on the matter.... 15. Yes please, though I think parts and bits of it are being taught in schools as I usually carried the constitution to my government class without it no class for you that day....

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes it should be included. Kids start learning from primary school In American system. In Texas u do hist 1301, 1302, govt 1301, govt 1302 in freshman and sophomore, that's first and second year in University. You learn everything about the past leaders and how they govern(good and bad). And it's always updated. By the time Obama is stepping down, everything about his govt is in there. It's not a bad idea.

  20. I support this and not just the constitution but Nigeria history. If you dont know where you are coming from you wont have a direction. Teaching the history of our country will build children that will be passionate leaders that will not just come for their share of the national cake.

  25. I rather they create and teach children in all african schools how the west underdeveloped africa and how we can be free from the mentality of slavery, then we can be useful to ourselves!
The crisis of bribery, corruption, underdevelopment, selfishness and greed continues in africa as long as our depency on the west mindset' remains with us!just as some of whites till date, teach their kids africa is a jungle with poor inferior black pple living on trees!lol!smh, dats d way our kids needs to be taught to see africa in a different light and the west in a lesser dignified light!
Constitution is least of a problem that is deep rooted.

    1. Hmmm I think this will only produce mentally bias resentful students o. Or don't u think? More like growing up to be culturally rebellious, as opposed to the enlightenment and the full racial emancipation it's intended to achieve. May be wrong though.

  32. YES!! It's long overdue and should be commenced ASAP. Not understanding the constitution is one of the greatest pain Nigerians have. They accept everything and anything due to lack of knowledge. Ignorance is very expensive.
