PDP Senators Allegedly Vow To Withdraw Support For Saraki if Amaechi is Confirmed

Senators belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and their All Progressives Congress, APC, were, yesterday, preparing for a showdown over different positions on the confirmation of two of 16 remaining ministerial nominees.

It was, however, learnt that Senate President Bukola Saraki was determined to weigh in on behalf of the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi and the ministerial nominee from Cross River State, Usani Uguru. The duo had been caught up in a grudge war mounted by PDP senators.

Amaechi is held in contempt by the PDP Senate caucus for his role in the defeat of the former ruling party in the last round of elections. Uguru brought himself into the bad book of the PDP Senate caucus when, during his screening, he said “God forbid” to a question as to his membership of the PDP.

Following the end of the screening of the nominees yesterday, the PDP Senate caucus held a meeting where they reportedly took a position against the confirmation of Amaechi. The senators were said to have resolved not to consider Amaechi’s nomination unless the report of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges on the petitions filed against the former Rivers State governor was brought forward for consideration first.....

Na wah, this drama should end already!..its either forward or backward,i don tire!

  3. They should go and sit down. Why didn't they ask him challenging questions during his interview? They all kept mum now they are shouting like children whose food has been snatched from them.

  4. The sooner PDP comes to realise that they are the minority group, plus they should focus on moving forward the better for them. All they have been deliberating is Amaechi. Dont they have better things to talk about. At least Amaechi decamped and stayed put. They should go and rest.

  9. Saraki doesn't av choice San to confirm Amaechi. APC is d majority in d hse, plus he himself knows he has his case pending. That's wat hapuns to olojukokoro like him, in his quest for pwr he sort solace with d opposition. ....it's jst glaring dat Saraki is pdp by heart and APC by paper.

  14. I had the weirdest dream last night. I mean, I haven't finished dreaming about myself or the Queen of England, it had to be Nigeria. Dreamt the country was in chaos and the current president Buhari had been overthrown. People were running for their lives, like I've never seen anything like it.
Then, the youth (all men and a lot of them) entered what in my dream was called a government house but where the President lived, with machetes, long knives, sticks, guns and right behind them were middle aged men dressed in suits and older men in traditional wear who looked like politicians.
Luckily the President escaped but they kept destroying things and then an announcement came on that the military were now in control....

Boy, must have been the late night meal I had.

    Have a good day peeps.
