Nigeria Army Court-Martial Sentences Brigadier-General Ransome-Kuti To Six Months In Jail

Brigadier General Enitan Ransome-Kuti, the son of the late human rights activist, Beko Ransome Kuti, has been sentenced to six months in prison for offences committed during the war against Boko Haram.

                               Brigadier -General Enitan Ransome-Kuti

He will be dismissed from the Army if the sentence pronounced on him by a military court in Abuja on Thursday is confirmed by the Nigerian Army.
Brigadier General Kuti has been at the center of controversy relating to his conduct as an officer.

He was accused of failing to perform his military duties during the fight against Boko Haram which may have resulted in the militants’ capture of Baga, the center of a multinational force.

Included in the charges against him is that Brigadier General Kuti failed to account for the weapons and ammunitions under his supervision, rendering the army useless in the fight against Boko Haram.

The officer denied all the charges. During a long trial, his lawyer, Femi Falana, presented evidence to the court that the Nigerian army had simply failed to provide necessary equipment for the Brigadier General to perform his lawful duties.

Falana also presented several statements from officers and soldiers who repeatedly stated that the army was ill-equipped to fight Boko Haram, an assertion that was later affirmed by a former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, shortly after he was fired from that position earlier this year.

    5. See the famous Falana trying to compromise all in the name of money.
the military was extremely corrupt under former president. They mismanaged funds meant for purchasing arms and fighting terrorism.
      GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

    2. And what was the fate of the courageous Biafrans? Didn't they lose at the end? Leave Yorubas alone. Being a coward for safety is acceptable but forming strong and lose in the end is the highest stupidity.

    3. But it was the same yoruba that the british met fighting a civil war of close to 40years with weapons that were uncommon in those days in this part of war. It is the same yoruba man that your warlord surrendered to end the civil war. We are of brains not brawn. We are America while your tribe is Russia.

    4. What is the name of that bald-headed pretender that (mis)led his blind tribe to a needless civil war; only to bolt off with his tail between his legs when he was most needed to be a man? The world has known no worse act of cowardice since then. Remind us his tribe...... Samuel doe, Gaddafi, sadam Hussein etc have all happened since then, they looked death in the eyes and damn the consequences.

  19. Stella I dont blame him.... the military n para military are guilty of sending southerners to war torn states while they post their people to safe places. My friend was the only southerner officer posted to Adamawa while hausas were posted to abuja, ikeja lagos, Oyo etc! Where he is there is no wall or gate round the so called barracks with only 3 officers there, no guns nothing to protect themselves. The roads ave been run over by water released from cameroun's dam! Its really not fair!

  21. So Amaka & Money Maker's comments still don't count as tribal bigotry, hen Stella?

    You still need evidence abi?

Irony is am not Yoruba! But I hate, no, loathe all & any form of bigotry. Shame on all of you who don't for the sake of today, our kids & posterity condemn such mindless & mentally myopic talk. Of course you inclusive Stella!

& don't gimme some line about correcting them privately, they uttered rubbish in public, if u stand against it chastise in public!

    Ordinary people!

(lol! 'ordinary people' has deep meaning, I rarely use it, but these people deserve it! If you're friends to wise old people you'll know what it means, wink!)
