    Stella don't mind them that's how they behave. You are supposed to bend over backwards for them. Give them food before they even ask, be at their beck and call. Even have sex when ur not in the mood or you are dead tired,some even tell them you are sick having headache they will still expect sex. Like its a taboo to deny them sex. Bcos they say never deny ur man food or sex.
    That is how I was dating a guy that thinks he's doing me a favour dating me. I had to practically be begging for him to call. Begging him to come and see me. He expects me to come over his house every wkend, clean and cook for him.
    Meanwhile this guys has 2kids with 2baby mamas and he still feels his Gods gift to women. Meanwhile im 28 and never been married without kids. Who shld be begging who?
    I just had to let him go, he adds nothing to my life. All he brings is argument. At 45yrs old.

    I think we are giving much negative attention to marriage, putting it in the wrong light and gradually nudging it towards loosing its true value. Marriage is made to seem like a defining act and at the same time, a walk through the evil forest abi the valley of the shadow of death.

    This picture has actually said nothing if the conclusory question is 'who is doing who a favour'....Favour cannot be attached to marriage. Marriage to me, can only be defined by 2 words.....LOVE and SACRIFICE. Anyone who is willing to take those vows should embed him/herself in these two virtues and submit the union in totality to God. That's my take....nothing like favour and no need to dare anyone.lol

    1. He didn't force you to change your name. He merely suggested it. You could have said no or hyphenated the surnames. IT WAS YOUR CHOICE.

    2. He left his family too.

    3. He didn't force you to move in with him. Again, it was just a suggestion. Nothing stopped you from suggesting he moves in with you. Nothing stopped from getting your own place. IT WAS YOUR CHOICE.

    4. He built a home with you, you built a home with him. Yall built a home for yourselves by yourselves. CHOICE.

    5. She didn't get pregnant for the man. She got pregnant because she wanted a family. It is for the same reason she carried the foetus full-term and agreed to give birth.
    She didn't give birth and go to the husband like: "here you go, I dash you". No, she claimed the baby too. She didn't have the baby for the man, she had it because she wanted to. CHOICE.

    6. Since she knows pregnancy will "destroy her body and make her fat", why does she bother to get pregnant again and again? CHOICE.

    7. No one forced the kids to bear his name. It was just a suggestion. From the onset, this could have been sorted out: what name will the kid(s) bear and in what format. CHOICE.

    8. Favour?
    Okay, in an AVERAGE marriage setting in the country, the man will marry an adult female and;
    Feed her for life,
    Clothe her for life,
    Give her parents money,
    Open a business for her,
    Sort out her schooling,
    Have her living in a house rent free for life,
    Pay the med, school and all sort of fees for the family,
    Have her driving a car,
    House her siblings,
    Be her bodyguard/driver/psychologist
    Etc.
    Imagine she pays for all these things. So who's doing who a favour?

    Someone is probably thinking OKAY SHE COOKS, WASHES, TAKES CARE OF THE KIDS etc. To that I say, monetise these things and compare with the cost of those of the man. Who's cheating who?

    One olosho is thinking "oh but she sleeps with him, he's to pay". He sleeps with her too so that cancels out.

    But if you are still not convinced about who loses, just imagine what will happen if marriage is banned. Women will be the ones to protest. Women like marriage because of the privilege it affords them.

    If you are one for gender equality, ask a man out. Go pay his dowry. Wed him. Give him your name. Make him be underneath you. That way you achieve what you want
