Forty Contractors Die In Kano Due To Former Gov Kwankwaso's Failure To Settle Debt

Kano state chairman of indigenous contractors, Alhaji Abduwa Maitangaran,
has disclosed that over 50 members of their association are currently in prison due to former Governor Kwankwaso's inability to pay their contract funds.

KWANKWASO

Speaking with journalists in Kano on Tuesday, he claimed that 40 of their
members also died due to frustration they went through for the non-payment of their contract money by the Kwankwaso administration.

He wondered why how the former governor refused to settle the contractors after sending him over 26 letters and sat with him more than 20 times, but he only made promises that he could not fulfil.

'Former governor made sure that we were all broke before he left us un-attended. For your information many things that were done at the so-called new cities of Kwankwasiyya, Amana and Bandirawo were outside the Bill of Quantity (BQ)'.

According to him, the former Governor needs to be probed for shoddy deals in the execution of many projects in the state during his tenure.
He said: “Instead of him to borrow from banks or other government departments, Kwankwaso used our money and executed those projects. To the surprise of all, not even 30% of our payments was effected before he left government house.”

He commended the present governor of the state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for giving them N200m to be able to settle some of the debts on their shoulders

  6. The same huge amount is being owed Bells University of Technology by the Kano State Government. Students were sent to the Olusegun Obasanjo owned University from Kano state on State Government scholarships. Bells University claims that MONEY HAS NOT BEEN PAID BY THE KANO STATE GOVERNMENT and for two years now, Bells University has been owing their contract and adjunct lecturers pay for work already done.

  10. All these governors causing problems since 1800, may God never allow you all to carry heavy loads that even babalawo or spiritualist will run away from you all.

Now that these contractors are dead, who will take their money. will it go back to the state or someone will be somewhere benefitting what does not belong to him.
