ROB AND RAPE.
Hello Stella,
I am a graduate of a school in Oyo State. I don't want to mention the name of the school because of the lady. She is a very close friend and in her finals. Stella this lady is very sexy. Think of Kim Kardashian but not that fat/big and you have an idea of how Moyo is.
So this is the story...on wednesday, a gang of cultist/robbers went to her hostel. After robbing them all (male and female oo), they lined all of them up and told everyone to undress and then matched a boy with a girl to have sex. The girls started crying and Moyo was crying that she is a virgin but no one believed. The thing is, i have slept at her place before with the thought of shagging (nobody holy pass so don't judge me) but after smooching and all, she said she was a virgin and i should stop initiating sex.
I have sisters and i know how situations can be so i respected her and stopped but we kiss and cuddle and all that but i don't usually believe her virgin story. Bottomline, they paired her with a guy and because they had a gun and all, they sha did and truly she lost her virginity that night. About 11 girls were raped that night.
Her friends that was raped too sef have been consoling her. It's not like we are really dating like that but she trusts me and tell me so many things, when she told me sef it felt odd. She can't sleep now and she is acting weird. She has been staying in my place since and i feel she isn't normal mentally again. Sometimes she will be sleeping and saying 'please please don't do it'.
Sometimes she will hold me and if i want to go and do something, she will start crying seriously that someone will come and rape her. Anything from 6, there must be light on or she will be acting strange. Even the guy that was paired with her has begged and begged but she is so upset.
I don't even know what to do because me i am serving and she is in her finals and i have talked talked. Do you think i should let her parents know or will she live through it.

This act is not new to students, I can bet that a lot of people have heard bout or witnessed something close to this and at a time it was quite rampant; particular to the east, there were high number of cases in IMSU, ABSU, EBSU, UNIZIK, NEK POLY etc and it is extremely annoying that police units are stationed around most institutions but clearly, these easy-crimes(little planning) are committed right under their noses. These same crimes were rampant 10yrs ago and if they still occur in this time then why do we have those stations ??...Inefficacy everywhere.....The demons even had time on their hands to go beyond the primary aim(robbery) and hurt those students.....The other girls might also be battling similar psychological trauma, same with the guys.....God please fix Nigeria.....To every police man out there, please work selflessly and do what you can to improve the image of the institution you represent not lurking around corners trying to set traps for motorists in a bid to milk them....PH policemen especially. If u've lived outside Nigeria and compare our policemen with what is obtainable in other countries, you'll know that most(not all) of these guys ain't worth being called policemen. We(govt & citizens) just keep getting it wrong.

This is the current situation of LAUTECH ogbomosho, students being robbed and asked to sleep with each other. Craziest part is skul is doing nothing about it n its do sad. ReplyDeleteIrs a traumatic experience. .shes stil relieving the experience of that day. One of the best ways to combat this is to let her talk about this with someone...preferably a therapist. Let her open up and express her fears...if possible narrate the experience of that day. It will slowly ease the pain away and make her come to terms with reality.

i can only imagine what she is going through right now. i was once robbed at gun point in my own house, luckily i wasn't raped, but i went through a serious trauma. Took a lot of time for me to get over it. i felt save outside than inside the house. it happened in 2010,but i am still afraid of the dark. she needs a change of environment and people around her mostly at night for this period,till she can be by herself. you just have to be patient with her.it is a very bad experience. May God help her.

Gosh....Don't know y bad things happen, I pray she recovers from dis but first thing first, let her leave d vicinity, take her or make her go home to her parents, they deserve to know what happened, she also needs to go for proper medical check up to avoid another problem, its so painful keeping / treasuring something only for it to be forcefully taken from u.... Those robbers would be served what they deserved. Nobody deserves to be raped not even a pros...

ReplyDeleteFirst i hope she has gone for testing, next thing is she needs support at this time and. She has to leave that environment. When i was in Uni there was a period where hostels were robbed and girls raped i was saved narrowly and that was my last night in that house but the fear went home with me. I would wake up at night if I hear even the slightest noise my mother had to ask me several times if i am sure they did not touch me! But the trauma !two of my friends who were also virgins then were raped same night one by 2 guys. I can still see that night so vividly.

ReplyDeleteOkay! I can relate with this. I have been a victim. I involved my parents. I went for a therapy session and I had people who love me ard me and they supported me. I'm still not over it. It takes Gods grace. Bottom line involve her parents. She needs to be counselled and loved to help her heal

ReplyDeletePoster, please get her family members involved ASAP! She remaining in your house puts both of you in danger. The line between sanity and insanity is blurry and volatile. Some people cross the line without family and friends knowing until it becomes full blown insanity. Some individuals with fragile minds and it takes little to make them snap.
That poor girl is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which is also a mental disorder, she should be under the care of professionals trained to handle such matters. My dear, you lack the prerequisite know-how to assess her mental capacity, so you must tread with utmost caution. People suffering from PTSD can be calm one minute then go into fits of rage the next minute, without warning. She may wake up in the middle of the night to attack you, thinking you're one of those guys responsible for her plight.
May I commend you for being a good friend at such a portentous and gloomy time in her life. May God bless you and may you never lack helpers in your time of need. We will keep her in our prayers.

ReplyDeleteShe should seek help ASAP i know someone that was raped at gun point too and she was a virgin, she acted just as the writer described, she was always scared of darkness, became hard and dislikes men and sex, she has outgrown it now. with counseling and support from family and a few trusted friends she will be fine.
