The sacked Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has lost his bid to nullify the sitting of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday morning threw out the bid by Wike to declare the sitting of the Tribunal in Abuja as being against the law.
The court said the President of the Court of Appeal acted in line with the law.
It said the relocation of the tribunal to Abuja was to safeguard the lives of the tribunal chairman and other members.
The court affirmed the judgement of the Court of Appeal, which had earlier okayed the decision of the Tribunal to assume jurisdiction.
Dailypost reportage.
Wow last chance failed!
So we are now to refer to him as ex governor Wike or sacked governor Wike?Hmmmmm !!!!
Ghen ghen
ReplyDeleteHe is Governor Wike. Elections will be held after 90 days. Till then,he is still the Governor.
DeleteSacked governor. Wike himself is a thugs. Vote Dakuku Peterside for governor for Rivers State 2015. He is the only credible Man who have the Rivers State people @ his heart and he'll take Rivers State people to the nest level. Vote APC for #change.
DeleteI pity this wicked wike
DeleteStella, get your facts right or does it mean you do not understand the court proceedings and their outcomes ? What this implies is that elections would surely hold in the next 90days which would determine if Akwukwu or Nye sor som would be gov.haha
DeleteChai Wike's political career going...........going..........
DeleteWike should just go and start campaigning again cos there was no election in the state the last time. All those thugs he got to disrupt the peace last time he should go and get them again. Am not apc or pdp but I will vote for Dakuku. I think Wike is tired and needs to rest from active politics. All the Wike thugs hold your fire, your governor is a thug and uncouth.
DeleteWhich aspirant isnt a tout in rivers state. Wike is still our governor.
DeleteIf he's certain he won the election without discrepancies, then he has nothing to be afraid of. He should run again and he will surely win. There was no need of going to supreme court in the first place..
DeleteGood for this Wike man.... shebi he was mocking Amechi..... my love for Amechi is priceless...
DeleteTime 4 Rivers to decide
DeleteWike wicked is Notting but noise maker
DeleteToo bad.
ReplyDeleteAnother drama, Stella's boo will be extral happy now
ReplyDelete*Larry was here*
Stella you eeh...sacked or ex governor; I will prefer sacked bcuz there was no election in rivers.
ReplyDeletePlease mention the state that held a proper election in this country.
Delete@Queen Amy.. shutup.. the point here is Wike got sacked.. Period
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteHian...
DeleteWe are talking about Wike here...
Oh dear!
ReplyDeleteTough luck.
Lol.
ReplyDeleteAre u not too fast to conclude? Have u asked him to know if he kept it in his office? Do u know if he took the car to car wash, and they stole it there?,.. drama queen stop creating problems where there is non
DeleteLol, Anony 13:10, pls calm down. You sound like you've never caught him cheating so you have no reason to be upset. What if he gave someone a lift and the person stole it? Gently ask him about it.
DeleteMy prayers are with Wike. May God grant him victory if he's truly the right person for Rivers state
Ghen ghen
ReplyDeleteAwwwww too bad.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm! Life!!!
ReplyDelete**Som Baby**
Yeparipa! PDP! One down!
ReplyDeleteAKA sumborri
Two coming up
DeleteHahahaha
ReplyDeleteWow
.lovely
Choi!..
ReplyDeleteSo they have succeeded in pulling this man down...
But if all the governors should be in APC,who will be the opposition?...
Hmmmm...it's getting more interesting...
getting interesting o
DeleteTroublesome stella!!!
ReplyDeleteSad!
ReplyDeleteWike it is well with you. Dont allow your betrayal of a brother win this battle. you must fight to win.
ReplyDeletei pity Rivers people. una no want peace for that land abi?
If I call you dullard now you go begin curse me. Betrayal of a brother ke? Nne, it's "betrayer". Blame it on auto correct as usual.
DeleteStella is it that you are so pro Amaechi that you don't consider what you write? This is not the last chance. This case is different from the Saturday one - in this one, he was challenging why the case will be moved from Rivers state to Abuja while the other one was filed by APC and in losing that, he has the options of appealing to higher courts- high court of appeal and supreme Court. It's when he has exhausted both options and lost that you can say he has failed. In any case even then, there is still re-election.
ReplyDeleteThank U. Wike is still going to appeal d judgement of d tribunal. This is just a case challenging d jurisdication of d said tribunal. Pls take note.
DeleteAnd if the appeal upholds the ruling of the Tribunal, he can take to Supreme court and if Supreme court upholds the appeal then there will be re-election 90 days after that. Meanwhile he is still the Governor until the outcome of the the re-run and believe me or not he has a huge chance of winning.
DeleteIf he has been sacked unequivocally, how can he continue to govern the state when a judgement has been passed? Let me check out what the constitution says in this regard though.. cos it's a bit dicy until a rerun is done
DeleteServes him right
ReplyDeleteNoisemaker!
Power dey pass power. I feel for him though so sad.
ReplyDeleteeh ya. The Amechi's go jubilate tire. sorry for him ooo. Next time he should follow the due process of electioneering. sorry for him.
ReplyDeleteNot yet.
ReplyDeleteHe is still eligible to contest in the rerun.
XOXO MYSTERY
I think sacked Governor. Good for him.
ReplyDeleteSdk boo, performing wonders.
ReplyDeleteDorehiahiahiahia hahahahahahhahahha lwkmd
ReplyDeleteSacked governor Wike.. lmao
ReplyDeleteHahaha.
ReplyDeleteI love the drama that is about to ensue.
Hmmmm...river state would be hot @d moment, lotsa accusations and counter accusations wld be d order of d day
Ex and sacked gov Wike
ReplyDeleteWoahhhhhh! This is serious. A part of me thinks the powers that be who have interests in this case are solidly behind the tribunal. But nonetheless, I applaud the Supreme court for not being swayed by the governor. He seems to be a trouble maker to me.
ReplyDeletewell done.
Yea, seems so to me too.
DeleteHmmmmmmmm!
ReplyDeleteChaaaaai! Diarisgodu ooooo!
ReplyDeleteAmaechi! One man squad!
ReplyDeleteStella this supreme court judgement is for the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case in abuja. This has nothing to do with the judgement of Saturday. You really wish they can get rid of wike that easy. Evil witch
ReplyDeletePlease let peace reign!!!!
ReplyDeleteAbi pieces
DeleteNo. This appeal is different from the one for the nullification of the election. This is for relocation to Abuja. I think he should. Just prepare for re-run of his election instead of the appeal.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI think we can still refer to him as governor till the re election in 86 days.
Delta's case should be heard in Abuja as well not the wayo they do in Asaba
Stella, it's obvious u know nothing about politics. Read d news again and you'd know wat to call him.
ReplyDeleteLMAO@ Stella! Na ex sacked governor😀
ReplyDeleteYour bias is so obvious and so wrong.. I hold you in such high esteem but whenever you show this kind of bias it pains me. Don't ever swear for any politician I tell you. If God opens your eyes to what these politicians do behind closed doors and the kind of barter that goes on which also includes your Boo Amaechi, you will be shocked to your marrow. Take everything you see or hear with a pinch of salt cos only God knows the end of a thing from its beginning my dear. Feel free to back anyone but don't show such obvious bias Stella.
ReplyDeleteSame old foolish u. D
DeleteThank you anon 12:06! My exact sentiments with Stella. Very sad really.

ReplyDeleteWell said anon 12:06
DeleteTell her o
DeleteEhen!! This is serious!! But I thought the court said there should be a re-run shey? He'll still be the governor in the mean time shey??
ReplyDeleteKai!! I feel bad for him. They should have just let him be jare..
yipeee!!!
ReplyDeleteHe will Still win.
ReplyDeleteYou are running before you can walk properly stella. Take it easy. Wike is still Governor of rivers state. No matter what buhari does. Let him exhaust all appeals. He will still be ruling until his appeal has gone from court of appeal then finally supreme court. Which has the final say. Tribunal court is just the first court of instance in this matter. He will appeal. And it may take months or years. And until the supreme court gives the judgement and upholds the decisions of the lower court section 143(2) of the constitution makes Wike to still be governor. So it is not that easy you apc witches. And if need be rivers people will still vote him in. So screw you fuck face
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing that section of the Constitution. Was just going to look for it.
DeleteHmmmmmmm..... na wah!!!
ReplyDeleteStella try and research your news and give correct info about this rivers state matter. Yes we know you dislike wike. And you wish you can suck on ameachi balls. But try your best and say the truth and not mislead your air heads
ReplyDeleteWe are talking elections not someone's gigantic n hairy balls
DeleteAnon, how did u know the balls r hairy? Hian!!! Stella, bia, do u read all comments b4 approving? Ue eyes and brain and nyash don suffer
DeleteWhile his balls are tiny, they are actually quite small.
DeleteWhich last chance? Did he appeal the judgement or the sitting?
ReplyDeleteThe end lo pin cinema!
ReplyDeleteAso Rock political. manipulation
ReplyDeleteIn most cases, you're balanced but in this particular Wike vs Amaechi thing, your biased side has reared it's head. You like ameachi sha. Lol. You're in such a haste aand you're not even checking details.
ReplyDelete-This is a pending application before the supreme Court to ascertain whether the tribunal erred to sit in Abuja instead of rivers. Venue and Jurisdiction. Honestly, hardly does venue ever nullify decisions. Hardly ever. So, it's natural that he'd lose this appeal. Would have stood better if the case was on going. Its concluded, properly constituted and judgement passed. So, the supreme Court can't quash it on something that trivial.
His lawyer is a SAN, he won't pass off any chance at all too be heard.
- however, the main appeal they are preparing will be to challange the judgement itself. Whether the problem with electronic card reader can nullify an election. Whether the tribunal had any basis to convincingly believe that the entire election was marred with violence, whether all the state should have been nullified based on the evidence, whether the tribunal erred by not following the decision in Agbaje vs Ambode and other things.
However, on an aside. The govt should handle this issue very carefully. Its potentially inflammatory. they might be bloodshed if there is any reason at all to believe that the federal govt is doing anything to sabotage pdp and Wike. Rivers politics is very volatile. Its a very different specie of politics.
Because, this issue of changing the judge of the tribunal midway, and saying the man was compromised is something. Raises eye brows. The many strange things.
Let's see the next course of action.
Buhari should let Rivers state be o..for peace to reign..there will more bloodshed o..as I'm typing this now, there are up to 50 youths in my compound having a very silent meeting.i live in Chinda's (the guy that Chidi Lloyd broke his head in HOA) compound..there has been series of meeting with youths since Saturday..I'm leaving Port Harcourt this week..Buhari leave Rivers state alone..APC for peace to reign, accept your defeat in good faith.
DeleteWell written, BonaParte NN. I wouldn't want to delve copiously into the matter since it's still sub judice but welcome to the art of prosecutorial acrobatics which has been bested by most of the finest legal minds.
DeleteIt's obvious that the issue of jurisdiction raised by Wike's legal team is merely to stall the execution of the tribunal's ruling because instead of appealing in piecemeal, why not add the other grounds of appeal to the issue of jurisdiction so the Supreme Court can give a final ruling on the matter at a whole?
It's trite in our legal system that jurisdiction is the lifeline of any proceeding and can be raised at any stage. So no matter how elegantly and brilliantly conducted any court proceeding is or how erudite the judgment arising from it is, once it has been established that the court( or tribunal in this case) lacks the jurisdiction to hear and determine the matter, the whole trial becomes a nullity. Of course the locus classicus, Madukolu V. Nkemdilim, says it all.
Assuming the Supreme Court ruled that the tribunal lacked the territorial Jurisdiction, that automatically renders the sack of Wike null and void so he can remain on the seat of power as the Governor while tackling other legal issues that may arise. However, until the judgment of the tribunal has been set aside by a superior court, its judgment stands and Wike remains sacked. Wike can't remain the governor pending further appeal because that amounts to contempt of court. For those big on labels and name tags, the appropriate title is "Ex-Governor" till re-run of the elections due within the next 90 days.
Thank you anon and Olivia silk.
Delete@Anon: I believe the SAN didn't put the other grounds of appeal through to the supreme Court as a tactic. The order that the tribunal be held in Abuja was made by the court of appeal. So, appeal on that matter should go to the supreme Court. So this was a grand opportunity for them to get final judgement. But it failed.
Then they have to take the route of tribunal to court of appeal to supreme Court. Remember where the appeal for governorship lies. They couldn't have jumped the gun by including extraneous prayers, I believe. And the appeal will carry a stay-of-execution order pending when it's resolved. That's why some governors sit for 1year or 6months and their matter is in court.
Dakuku was wise not to ask for a declaration but a rerun which he was in his rights to. Cos honestly, his votes ratio was very low.
Anyways, lets see how it goes. I have d gut feeling that Wike may get away with this. Unless they set him up and disqualify him or EFCC does something. Let them just not shed blood while at it.
Hmmm Borna I do not see the hands of the federal government in this Wike saga.. none at all. I would have agreed with your allusion if it were a case of Wike vs Ameachi for the seat.. but Ameachi scaled thru his federal ministerial screening so there's no contention again as such. Well, that's what I want to believe.
DeleteHowever, I was a bit confused when someone up there said Wike would continue to be governor until his appeal. Which I think violates the ruling of the court that sacked him. Been trying to check what his situation says and what becomes of the Riverians until the supreme court decides. This will be an interesting one ooo. Lol
Sorry @Ronalda. Didn't see that
Delete@sisi Eko: hawayu?
Lol. Long time
He was not sacked! Still the governor but awaiting a re run election in the next 90days.
ReplyDeleteAwwww...it's such a pity.
ReplyDeleteNa wa
ReplyDeleteMy problem is that all these criminal governors who are beneficiaries of rigging(a criminal offence) and by extension assesories before with and after the fact of rigging go away without any punishment and returning of emoluments received while the criminal acts lasted. Instead they use their cronies to now legally rig themselves back to office. Our greatest problem in this country that has made the situation the way it is is not corruption per say but lact of punishment to those that foul the land. For a start let these ppl who perpetrate electoral violence and rigging be jailed and you see ppl refraining from such. What is the object of criminal punishment, btw
ReplyDeleteHe was never been sacked. The election that brought him in has been nulified and he is awaiting re run election in the next 90days.
ReplyDeleteThe supreme court de vex oooOoO

Hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteAlmighty Rotimi Ameachi!
ReplyDeleteAhh. This one na serious gobe.Original gobe.
ReplyDeleteThats not his last chance o Stella.
ReplyDeleteThe appeal is based on d relocation of the tribunal sitting from the State to Abuja.
His right of appeal on d substantive judgment of the tribunal nullifying his election has not been exhausted by his legal team. I guess they are on it and soon d SC will hear the Appeal.
Meanwhile!, they can just go and do re-run jare make all dese noise go down joor.

ReplyDeleteApc plan has worked!
ReplyDeleteThey should re-run the election.
They don't have the power to sack a sitting governor just like that!
Too bad for this man
ReplyDeleteStella you're getting it all twisted. Read the news all over, you misconstrued some issues. Correct yourself please.
ReplyDeleteSign that he will loose in the re-run. Next time when you are appointed governor face your job and leave Amaechi alone

ReplyDeleteU are better off anonymous hehe
DeleteSacked gov indeed
ReplyDeleteStella!Stella!! see as you just fall hands. You don't need a law degree to understand such matters. You should have gotten someone to educate you properly before hurrying off to post this news. You should have just ended on theain story before adding your myopic conclusion. Don't try it again. As a blogger you are expected to know a little of everything and if you can't, focus on what you know. Very soon all these Internet journalists will be served with writ of summons to appear in Court. Na that time una eye go shine.
ReplyDeleteLife!
ReplyDeleteWike Agbero governor...Get out of that seat...U dont bite the finger that fed u and expect to seat on that seat comfortably. ReplyDeleteHey! Calm down. Rivers State is for Wike!!
DeleteWe will vote again for Wike and he remains our Governor..
ReplyDeleteWhat has it got to do with Buhari. They have started again. If Rivers people resort to violence they will only be killing themselves and no one else. It will only affect your people and no one else. Life in other states will continue. Everything must not resort in violence.
ReplyDeleteWIKE NOISE MAKER.U BETTER LEARN HOW TO TALK
