Assemblies of God Church drags factional group to EFCC over embezzlement

A faction of Assemblies of God Church has been dragged to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, by the Assistant General Superintendent, accusing the factional General Superintendent and six others of alleged fraudulent conversion of funds running into billions of naira.

•File photo: Show of shame… Security men battle to break up a fracas involving factional members of the Assembles of God church

The Assistant General Superintendent, Rev. Ramsey Ogagaoghene in a petition addressed to the EFCC noted that the factional General Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor and six others allegedly embezzled over N100 billion belonging to the church, adding that Rev. Okoroafor was the Assistant General Superintendent until March, 2014 when he could not account for funds of the church and formed a parallel group that threw the church into crisis.

On account of the petition dated September, 2015 submitted to the Commission by Mr. Eli Ugwu, counsel to the petitioner and four others, the group urged the Commission to investigate the alleged fraudulent conversion of money and embezzlement of funds belonging to the church by Rev. Okoroafor and his cohorts as they approved money for projects without due process of the church, and allegedly executed such projects by themselves.

Petition
The petition read in part: “On behalf of the Assistant General Superintendent, Rev. Ramsey Ogagaoghene, Bright Arukwe, Clement Esochaghi, Oliver Udensi and Sunday Palma for and on behalf of pastors and other concerned members of the church, we claim that Rev. Vincent Alaje, Rev. Femi Adegoke, Mr. Dickson Ukpai, Mr. Michael Ugbor, Elder Mike Okoro and Tony Ewelike engaged in illegal and unauthorized business without the approval of the General Suprintendent.
“Alaje unilaterally spent about N115 million belonging to the church, personally negotiated and concluded payments for three plots of lands and has started developing the plots without the consent and authority of the General Superintendent and other officers of the church.

“Alaje was fond of commandeering the money of the church, approving same by himself, and authorized payments without the consent of the General Superintendent. This was evidenced by his requisition of 5/4/2013 for the sum of N1.5 million which he tagged, ‘Trip to Ibadan with family.’ The unilateral stashing of fund was after the church magnanimously approved N2 million for him”

The petition further indicted Alaje of illegally collecting N28.5 million as staff investment premium without any authorization, which according to the report, was against the general council accounts procedures. The petition further noted that the same amount was deposited into an account with Diamond Bank.

Rev Ogagaoghene in the petition also prayed EFCC to question Mr. Tony Ewelike on the N1.4 billion Assemblies of God Ministers Benefit Scheme, AGMBS, which he was unable to account for. The petition further pointed out that Rev. Femi Adegoke,, the former media director of the church should also be investigated for allegedly defrauding the church of over N50 milliion.

My big sis married an Assemblies of God guy. Their service used to start with sunday school, then service which may end by 2pm or thereabout on a good day. Then on celebration days,5pm. Mind you,no food before we leave for church. So one day,i slept off during the super boring service. An usher woke me n i stood up n started crying. Real cry o. Every eye was on me n i was taken outside. When the female pastor twisted my ear,i screamed n started running towarxs d gate. My sis couldnt believe her eyes. They would hv thought i was possessed
They still tease me about that incident.

  14. Hypocrisy-The enemy of Destiny.

"Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous into men,but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity"
    Matthew23:28.

Hypocrisy is the act of manifesting false virtue and exaggerated lifestyle. It simply, a lifestyle of lies.
There are those whose work is to lie; everything about them is a lie. Regrettably, Christians are not exempted. You may even be tempted to be more comfortable doing business with unbelievers than some Christians because of their infamous record of cheating and duping fellow Christians. There are Christian with mix gene; they are half Egyptian and half israelite, that is worldly and still churchy.

Many people are not reliable; they cannot be trusted with money. Try them with a million naira and you will see their true colour. They will show you that they have another god called mammon. Insincerity is their second name; they can forge documents and make false age declaration to get a job.

Nomatter how much you speak in tongues, it will yield no result in filthness. In fact, some of the tongues you speak can report you to God if spoken in filthness. For instance, if you are speaking in tongue in a state of iniquity, you are saying" Lord I came to let you know that I stole yesterday. Oh Lord, I came to tell you that I committed adultery . Angels of protection depart from me, I am a thief, and I don't deserve to be protected"

That shall not be your portion in Jesus' name.

Beloved, to fulfil Destiny, you must shun every hypocritical lifestyle and embrace sincerity.

Remember: Nomatter how much you speak in tongues, it will yield no result in filthness.

    PRAYER:
Lord, deliver me from the lifestyle of hypocrisy. Help me to be sincere with you , people and myself . In Jesus' name . Amen.

    Good morning.
God bless you all. Have a fruitful day.

The kind cane wey go flog these pple on judgement day ehn???

  16. Wetin GOD go judge go plenty. GOD have Mercy. This is the highest of dem all, stealing 4rm GOD. Stealing people problems nd adding it 2 urself. People give dis offering nd pay tithe thanking GOD, nd also complaining about their problem. One prs will come nd steal all their problems, thinking that u are wise, nt knowing that u are destroying urself nd ur entire Generation. They don't even need 2be taken 2 court or police. Bcos they are curse already. What will follow dem in future is more than enough. People go suffer finish give their last card 2 GOD. Chei another prs go come eat am. Which curse wey pass that one,

  17. Stories like this make me give my tithe to someone in need. It hurts to hear that your hard earned money that you contributed to help grow the church is being laundered and spent frivolously. The people who gave those monies to the church could have spent them on themselves , but they chose to give it to God. Pastors are starting to make Christianity seem like a joke. This is very disconcerting.

  26. The devil is a big fat liar. We must first realize that we are firstly humans, before Christians. We are flesh, and it is bound to happen. Our prayers should be for unity in the church. Greed and Disunity is creeping into the Church, and apportioning blame wouldn't solve it, but uniting with prayers that the gate of hell shall not prevail against the church. Do not say you dont attend the church and refuse to pray, the church is one in Christ. God bless us all as we strive to make heaven at last.

  33. Assembly of God and crying, praise na cry, worship na cry, prayer na cry! Them and Indian people I no know who cry pass! Church has become a big joke #endtime

    ReplyDelete
  34. Why are you giving money to God? I would say God does not worship money like we do. Anybody who tells you to that you are bad because you do not give them money for their church is a deceitful person. Access to God is free! No copyright or Trademark! You can even skip Church and pray in your room, if you have the discipline. Church is to congregate and pray in a group but its not by force and its not the only method of communion with God. Nigerian churches are now business enterprisesd, anybody can rent a room, buy some chairs and call himself a Pastor. There are so many fake Christians who do not know the meaning of humility, honesty, modesty, empathy, etc. But they want to pay money at Church so that God can forget all their sins. Thats hypocritical. But the whole idea is to commune with God and that does not take any money but it does take practicing the tenets, rituals and morals of the religion. Unless your religion is money of course.
