Tonye’s Ari Belema video is finally out and you should absolutely watch it, I will tell you why.....
I honestly never thought that real music could make it mainstream in Nigeria but with the way Tonye, a real beauty from the jaws from the south-south region of Nigeria is owning mainstream radio, TV and even bagging awards and nominations, I have been forced to rethink.
Now back to the video; no sports cars, no half naked women, just a video that portrays the Nigerian culture in marriage which is an apt representation of the song. What particularly stands out for me is the richness of the South-south culture - Kalabari to be precise. It's not often we see this nowadays. Tonye definitely represented well. "Ari Belema" translated from the Kalabari language means "I Love You".
The video also features cameos from some quite popular faces in the industry like Bolanle Olukanni; Sharon Ojong, Denrele, Kaylah Oniwo, Vien, Diwari Peterside, Chigul, Ifan, Sunmisola Olorunnisola and a host of others. I also hear that quite a few of her family were present including her mum, Mrs Uche Garrick and her aunt, Mrs Daba Manuel Obioha.
Did I mention Tonye is the epitome of black beauty in this video? – I should stop here.
