Stage Play ''An Inspector Calls''..

SYNOPSIS FOR THE STAGE PLAY “AN INSPECTOR CALLS”

This play which was first performed in the United Kingdom in 1945 is a very gripping and super tense yet suspense filled performance. It was adapted by Prof. Ahmed Yerima in the early 2000’s and Conspicuous theatre has decided to stage this same play at the Ladi Kwali Conference Centre Sheraton Abuja Hotel on the 11th Of October, 2015.

This performance is directed by Mr. Kayode Aiyegbusi an assistant Director at the Cyprian Ekwensi centre for arts and culture and produced by Mr. Oluwafewa Oredugba.

The play which is based upon the lifestyles of a rich urban family in Lagos whose patriarch is very much a business man and astute politician. While the whole family along with their soon to be son-in-law celebrate their daughter’s engagement on a wet evening, a middle aged man comes visiting. 

He introduces himself as a detective whose major aim is to investigate the suicide of a young girl who died after consuming egometrin tablets. During his interrogation of the family, various facts and secrets come out from the mouths of each member of the family who have at one time or the other had something to do with this girl.

All these and more as the play winds down gradually points to the fact that our action/inactions in various circumstances have consequences and effects on people consciously or unconsciously.

Who is this man that came visiting? Would the engagement still stand? Is any of these family members guilty of her death? Would they even learn their lessons after learning all these secrets about each other?
