Dont you DARE if the love equation aint right!

"Untill there is a remarkable decrease in the number of new cases of children born with SCD and improved medical care for pleople living with SCD in Nigeria we should not relent in our efforts to create awareness and support one another"

    1. You can check the genotype of the foetus when the pregnancy is around 3months at some centres in Lagos and Abuja for like 250,000naira ,if the genotype is SS..u have an abortion. A tough decision though.

    5. Wait some years down the line when u watch ur child suffer and all you nd ur madly in love AS boyfriend can do is regret and ask if it was really worth it. Don't call God reason being that Go giving you the knowledge to know the consequences of your action is enough. God helps those who help demselves. Ignorance is a sin in this case and i feel sorry for your ignorant little mind. Yours truly...... 24 year old SS warrior

    9. Just imagine! Sometimes, or better still, most times, love is just never strong enough to withstand this kind of crisis. Have a rethink. It's for your own good.

Would have been terrible because everyother thing was in order.

    Conducted the test 3 times.
    It's only God.
There is huge awareness now, so definitely it's on the decline. But so many Pastors still have children with SC genes. I wonder.

  13. Very lovely post!

@ ANON 18:05pm, You are AS and want to marry another person with AS Hb Genotype? I have one simple advice for you- DON'T TEMPT GOD. I dare ask, have you ever seen a sickle cell disease patient in crisis before? Do you truly understand the emotional hurt, physical trauma, time loss at work, lack of time to attend to other family members simply because you are caring for an ill child?
Why would anyone ever risk being responsible for the eternal pain and suffering of a child? You both are adults. Better be hurt now than hurt later. Go your separate ways please! This love you scream and flaunt now will get lost in transit when the chips are finally down.
    ACT WISELY. Best regards.

  14. My parents are both AS, out of three children only one of us is SS and the othe two AA. That's to say there's nothing God cannot do. My sister who is SS never falls sick, in fact she can't remember the last time she had a crisis. The only way you'll know she's SS is if she tells you. I'm not advising anyone to get married knowing you're prone to bringing sickle kids into the world, all I am saying is there is nothing God will not do and also be wise.

  22. The first thing I ask a man when we start dating is his genotype even if I can't ask him directly cos he might feel this gal is too forward, I wld stylishly bring up a gist that will lead to him telling me his genotype . I am AS so I don't take chances atall and wldnt want to fall in love and later realize our genotype don't match . Knowledge is indeed power. The earlier you know the better for you cos e get some kind things wey love no fit overcome and having kids with SCD na one of them, believe me .

  23. I lost one proposal 12 years ago because of my being AS. In fact dont even think of it because its not worth it. Now which SS would even think of marrying same?

  24. AA+AA.....cant even deal with AS. ThankGod love didn't blind my parents eyes. I wud have resented them so much if there's even a trace of S in our family.
