President Buhari And VP Osinbajo Finally Declare Their Assets

The presidency has released a statement giving details of the assets of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as declared to the Code of Conduct Bureau.

A statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity), on Thursday said “Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), show that the retired General has indeed been living an austere and Spartan lifestyle, contrary to what many might expect of a former Head of State of Nigeria and one who has held a number of top government positions, such as governor, Minister of petroleum and the head of the Petroleum Development Trust Fund (PTDF).”

It further reads: “The documents submitted to the CCB, which officials say are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also had no registered company and no oil wells.

“The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics declared a bank balance of about N94 million and 900,000 United States Dollars in his bank accounts.
“President Buhari declared, however, that he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
“This is entirely unlike what one might expect from a former head of state of a country like Nigeria.

“The documents also revealed that President Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura. He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and in Abuja. One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father. He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.

“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.
“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.

“The documents also showed that the retired General uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as former Head of State. The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.

“As revealed by the same forms, highlights of the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s asset declaration include his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The Vice President also has a 2-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England. Aside from these, the Vice President has no other landed properties on the form.
“Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.

“According to details shown on the form, the Vice-President has about ninety four million naira, nine hundred thousand US dollars and nineteen thousand pounds in Nigerian Banks with the foreign currencies kept in local domiciliary accounts. His personal vehicles are one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves.”

    10. Before the election, Muhammadu Buhari and his supporters claimed that he was evicted by his Abuja Landlord over rent. Today President Buhari declared that he have houses in Kaduna (2), Abuja(1), Kano(1), Daura(1), 2 undeveloped property in PH and Kano. The whole properties are valued over N11bilion.
      Why all the lies.

During election, also, Buhari said that he have less than N1million in his bank account. Today, he confirmed that N30million cash is in his account.

It takes more lies to cover a lie. When will Buhari and his co-travelers stop these tale by Moonlight?

    2. @madam boss, do u even know the risk of under declaring ur assets? It makes it easy for u to be probed after ur regime. Because we will know how much u earned while u were in govt. And how u automatically became super rich. Some governors over shot their properties because they know that by the time they finish their tenure they would have made that amount they claimed to have and nobody can hold them for corruption and embezzlement. Lets be wise sometimes in our judgement let's not allow our sentiment blind us.

I know integrity means nothing to the average Nigerian. However, there are still some people who will never trade their integrity for all the money in the world.

  46. Nobody is against him declaring his asset. He said it so we all expect him to do it. But they should stop lying. Buhari didn't av up to a million b4 the campaign/during the campaign. Now elections, he has 30million and other properties? They should stop lying plz. Osibanjo was rich b4? I agree but he served as a commissioner under Tinubu. He never stole abi? I agree. After all, na all of us go dey queue to face our judgement.

  47. VP is rich and he doesnt even look it. Am glad he wasn't a politician so he definitely earned his money. If Buhari's declaration is true, then he is a role model. My own is that Nigeria should grow and become better jare

  49. Moneymaker, no successful business man has time to come exchanging words with women on a female dominated blog, you should be in a conference meeting with business partners or discussing on the expansion of your business..better still taking refresher courses on business and expounding your knowledge- that's what successful business men do not alaba touts like u who manage to get one shop and wont let people hear word . You're just a dreamer. Work harder and be more productive- then ur dreams might come thru. poverty stricken fool. Stella post my comment i want it to read this.

  50. i am always an advocate of heal your past hurts in relationships before moving to another relationship. Let me heal my past political hurts and have small faith in this administration.
Even if they are not the first to publicly declare, Yes Yaradua did that in 2007. Lets be honest Yar'adua's asset declaration is definitely more honest than this. he declared his assets then to a total of N856,000,000 which is believable.

Every formal head of state is entitled to allowances till they die, Buhari did not state them, what of the cars they are gifted with every year? i am sure plenty of his assets are under his family name or whatever. This APC lie too full thier mouth jare. Let Oshiomole stop being thier Unofficial Minister of media relations and i may start believing what comes out of Buhari's mouth.

That change God wants to use Buhari to bring to Nigeria, that change must manifest by fire in Jesus name, Amen.

  52. People should just shut up, especially those saying tribalistic stuff, ie jasmine. At osbibajos age and stage in life, how much is he supposed to have in his account, and ow many properties should he own. This man has almost 30yrs experience in law. He comes from a comfortable background, his wife is successful in her own right with good pedigree. Not everyone was brought up in poverty. I don't blame d ppl saying crap, poverty is dere middle name. They come on here begging for recharge cards and worn clothes and shoes. Begging with 100k to find a room n parlour to stay. I am only 33 by the grace of God, and my bank balance sits at over 30m naira, have been in the oil and gas sector since I graduated at 21, invested in things and I'm on my way to saving to buy my own property good willing. This is even nothing, I have my mates that have much more and I'm looking up to them. When you earn well, and ur parents r also comfortable what is d big deal in money. I was brought up in a comfortable environment. Have the understanding that not everyone is poor and not everyone is rich through government. A lot of people young ppl even have more than oshibajo. Instead of rebuking people, why not pray to God to bless you and remove the spirit of poverty in ur family.,

  53. If buhari's wife cud wear a watch worth 10million! If the tuition fee of his daughters schooling abroad cud amount to dollars! Damn he lied 'bout his assets and doesn't have only 30mil in his account! Most Nigerians are f**'ing gullible! What took him so long in declaring his assets!? This is a political rehearsed make believe, devised to deceive most Nigerians, from mud house to 7houses! Una change just dey change by the day!

  56. THIS IS A MEMO TO ALL THOSE WHO THINK THE VP ACQUIRED HIS MONEY FRAUDULENTLY. Prof. Osinbajo is one of the most upright people I know in this country. His law firm simonscooper is one of the biggest in Nigeria. Goodness gracious, wretchedness is a disease. Just because someone has that kind of money, doesn't mean he stole it. I'm actually surprised he doesn't have more. I guess if he was the loud and flamboyant type with the kind of wife that bounces from one party to the other, you all would believe he's rich. Smh

  57. Im not a buhari supporter but I really don't understand what Biharis wife's assets has got to do with his. My philosophy of life is my money is my money and my husbands money is our money. For all you know, she's richer.
