Giesi Ruling House Presents Ogunwusi As Next Ooni Of Ife.

The Ojaja Unit of the Giesi ruling house on Wednesday presented Adeyeye Ogunwusi as its candidate for the position of Ooni of Ife.
Mr Olalekan Ijiyode, the spokes person of the Ojaja Unit, said this on Wednesday at a press conference in Ile-Ife.

LATE OONI OF IFE.

“ When there is vacancy in respect of the Ooni stool, it is mandatory, based on the fact of rotation, that the ruling house that is in turn would fill the vacant stool,’’ Ijiyode said.
He added that the other ruling houses were all aware that the next Ooni would emerge from Giesi ruling house.
Ijiyode said the Giesi ruling house was made up of six units which included Ojaja, Lugba, agbedegbede, Deboye Moliki and Wanikin.

He said the other three ruling houses of Osinkola, Ogboru, and Lafogido had all assumed the Ooni stool since 1894, insisting that it was now the turn of Giesi.
“There is no cause for alarm on who will fill the vacant stool as committees have been set up so as to agree on the right successor,’’ he said.

He, however, expressed the belief that Ogunwusi would be chosen.
Ijiyode described Ogunwusi as competent, generous, noble, experienced, fit and eligible for the throne.

He also said that the candidate would inject life into the agro allied and industrial sector of Ile-Ife, adding that cocoa and flour mills would be established in the ancient town.

    1. It happens in every tradition when the head dies. It does not apply to yorubas alone. It's just dt we don't get to hear because they are not as popular as this particular one.
