EFCC Returns 10,540 Euros To Polish Woman Who Fell Victim To Love Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered and returned 10,540 euros to a Polish victim of internet love scam.

The victim identified as Jamina, was allegedly duped 40,000 euros by the
suspect, Gabriel Oseremen Xavi, who operates a Facebook account with the name, Collins Page.

The suspect was traced to Benin City, Edo State, where he was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by the victim.

Speaking on Wednesday at the handing over of the money at the Belgium Embassy, Abuja, Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, charged Western diplomats to sensitise their citizens on internet love scam.

Lamorde, who also urged them to focus more on lonely elderly people who have been found to be easy prey, added that “all the assets acquired by the suspect from the proceeds of the crime will be disposed off at the conclusion of trial.”

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of the money to the Belgian Ambassador, Mr. Stephane De Loecker and his Polish counterpart, Mr. Andrzej Dycha, by Lamorde

@Elena, I saw your comment about not being able to comment or reply after other people have commented. The same thing has been happening to me for weeks now. I thought I was the only one going through such. Maybe it's a Google issue. *shrugs* I really don't know. Ideally, I would have replied under your comment but see me on another post.

  12. Stella, EFCC do not have the statutory power to jail politicians except the court of law. They are to charge and carry out investigations, gather enough evidence against the accused which will be used in the court of law.

I blame the snail judicial system we have in this country and not EFCC though the commission was long dead after the exit of Nuhu Ribadu.

I really don't know when these whities will wise up and stop being scammed.
