The Economic and Financial Crimes on Monday interrogated the immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang, over alleged corruption.
The spokesperson of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed this to PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone interview.
Mr. Uwujaren, who did not disclose the actual reason for the interrogation, said Mr. Parradang was still being quizzed at the time he left the office in the evening.
The embattled former CG was reported to have arrived at the EFCC headquarters in the Wuse 2 District of Abuja at 10am and was immediately taken into the interrogation room by the Commission’s operatives.
Mr. Parradang was in August suspended from office by President Muhammadu Buhari. He has since been replaced by his deputy, Martin Abeshi.
The former CG presided over the NIS when some more than a dozen job applicants died during a recruitment exercise organised by the agency in 2013.
Mr. Parradang had blamed the then Interior Minister, Patrick Abba Moro, of hijacking the process.

ReplyDeleteThe blood of all those innocent people dey killed in 2013 recruitment exams will continue to question them....barawo. .
It s always about quizzing.
ReplyDeleteNothing ever comes out of it
It s even becoming comical.

Hmmm....if Buhari probes this man and refuses to probe Customs CG because they are from the same state...then his anti-corruption rant iss questionable!! The ex Customs boss is a million times more corrupt. Pls immigration CG should stop blaming a minister for his own inadequacies!!!The Minister is at fault too but most importantly, the CG is supposed to take charge when conducting a recruitment!
ReplyDeleteThat ex CG of customs was a bastard. .A huge criminal. ..d way he victimised people, looted, didn't promote those that were due instead kept promoting junior officers cos dey paid a lot of money for it..infact that man has a lot of curses in his head from wives and mothers. ...he's already a goner. ..
DeleteThey should also probe Bode George and Ottoh for the SURE-P scam they did last year billions were collected from unsuspecting job seekers and till date, everybody is behaving as if nothing happened.
ReplyDeleteThey should bring all looters and corrupt personnel to judgment.
Which surep r u talking abt?? I am a beneficiary of d graduate internship scheme, I applied online free of charge, attended d internship fair n was picked by a school, for d first 5mths I dint see my salary which was supposed to b 30k a mth, after we disturbed their customer care lines with complaints, the nxt month we were paid d five mths arrears, and subsequently paid, but after during d election period, it stopped again. When buhari took over n started probing, dem hit me wit 2mths salary in a space of two weeks.
DeleteMay God keep using Buhari o...so dey can pay us our peanuts.
But GIS surep is real!!! But u must hav served. If u nid more info, drop ur comments n i wud reply
they should continue since Buhari is Mr. Probe. i hope it is not one sided.

Whenever I see him,i remember d lost souls!may they continue to rest in peace.
U see where u guys go wrong, I am in d system, or atleast, I was in d system for 3mth bfre we were dispersed till further notice.
ReplyDeleteThe comptroller general has no power to conduct recruitments, only the minister of interior alongside other bodies, and d firm conducting d exam. The CG is just a figure head with almost no power, so this falls squarely on Abba Moro. When the CG made suggestions as to security n provision of ambulances for d exercise, d memo never saw d light of d day. I Pray our president will have to boldness to allow this interview open the eyes of nigerians to d rot in d system.
Its almost like a power struggle btwn both, thats y Jonathan set up a committee to conduct d last recruitment, out of the reach of both parties. I am not saying parradang is a saint, but d botched exercise can never be conducted by a CG, he has no such powers, check immigration laws. This doesnt aslo mean they dont get slots.
The whole matter is frustrating. God will disgrace Abba Moro for what he really is. Over 600mil was paid by applicants last yr, n he claims only 45mil was. I pray this investigation exposes the sector in immigration.
And for u all doing passports at 30-50k, esp 32pages passports, dnt mind those frauds, even as a recruit, I made sure pple got their passport at d approved 17k plus the idiotic n compulsory "office charge" of 3k. It still beats the 30k they rob nigerians of.
Am tired of typing. God pls use Buhari to expose alll these Nigerians.
Yes o serious probing not halfway and forget probing.this people ain't loyal at all.
