Doctors In House Section.

Hmmmm God of Miracles na you biko!

PREGNANT WITH COMPLEX CYST
Dear Stella,
I'm a BV on our blog,I Love your blog and I Love you.
Please I need advice from mothers who have experienced this in pregnancy and gynaecologist in the house.

I was on fertility drug clomid for a month because after series of tests, my doctor said I was not ovulating regularly. So that Clomid cycle month I also did folliculometry(a process whereby they check through transvaginal ultrasound to see if you had follicles and if it grows and finally if it drops) to confirm ovulation. I had a lot of follicles but the dominant one on the left ovary was overgrown at 29mm at day 15 and I ovulate on cycle day 18 because I have a 32day cycle. ‎The one on the right became septated cyst.
Fortunately, with all this I conceived that month and I didn't believe it. My doctor was hoping to treat he cyst if my period comes. Currently i'll soon be done with first trimester but this complex cyst hurts like hell.

I take black strap molasses because I have been doing a lot of research on how to ease the pain. My doctor checked it via ultrasound last week but he said it's no big deal but the pain is in depth. I told him of the black strap molasses and he discouraged me from taking it that paracetamol will do. The molasses do help a lot but now i'm confused.

Please doctors in the house help out.
1.I'm I safe taking the black strap molasses?
2.What else can I do to ease the pain?

P.S: This is our first child and I have been ttc for a while, this baby means a lot to me.

Worried BV‎.

  12. U will carry your child and birth him/her. Ur pregnancy shall be successful in Jesus name. I wish I know more about this but I feel the pain will be less when u pass this first trimester. I can remember some serious pain at my left side in my first trimester which I was told it's the side the baby attached in the womb and it was normal. The pain eased after sometime. Also stop taking anything the doctor did not recommend to avoid harming ur baby. I believe the God I know who started this work in u will complete it in Jesus name. Amen.

  23. Please do not seek any medical advice from BVs for a precious pregnancy such as this. Go to your gynaecologist if you are not satisfied change doctor. I don't know what you want to hear from anonymous people here. As a mother i know you are advised not to take any medication without prescription from a qualified medical doctor during pregnancy. Grow some sence I beg. Plus not sure if it is proper to release all these details online haba

  24. Hi Mrs,

    Thanks for sharing.

Pain of an ovarian cysts can be painful in pregnancy and it can worsen or ease as the pregnancy progresses.
Ease when pregnancy grows bigger than cysts and it regresses worsen when pregnancy presses on the cysts.
One good thing you want is for your precious pregnancy to grow. Cysts can be monitored by your doctor and also the baby can be monitored.

    PAIN vs DRUGS
In pregnancy, please take a safe tested drug for pain ---> paracetamol
Blackstrap mol though organic and herbal is NOT tested , we dont know what it can cause in pregnancy so SAFER to avoid. One thing we know is its a sugar and Potassium source so you may need to get your sugar and electrolyte heck to be sure you have not developed those. Thought unlikely, safer to stop.

    SAFETY OF PREGNANCY
Rely on your faith in he most high
Do only safe things in pregnancy
Allow the months go by as your baby grows
As 3rd trimester approaches, more can be allowed in pregancy in terms of drugs to use, and worse case scenario (not your portion) , surgery on troublesome cyst.

    Bless,
    on behalf of stella,

  26. Sorry dear, you will feel better in the second trimester. Follow your dr's recommendations for now.
You shall birth this child in Jesus name.

  27. Hi Mrs,

Ovarian cysts in pregnancy can be difficult to cope with and manage.
    Pain is the main issue.
Pain can ease when pregnancy progresses and grows bigger than the cysts. Pain may worsen if pregnancy compresses on the cysts and the cysts does not regress like it sometimes does.
One good thing is your pregnancy continues to grow and your cysts is being monitored by your doctor for any complications

    PAIN vs DRUGS
It is advisable not to use any medicine is pregnancy if you can avoid particularly in first trimester.
This pregnancy being precious for you , one will advise to use a safer and tested medicine like regular paracetamol which can be effective when taken regular, like 1g three times daily or twice. Not waiting for the pain to come on.
Blackstrap molasses though herbal/organic may not be safe, we do not fully know as it is unlicensed and not tested. One can infer that it may raise sugar levels and electrolyte -potassium. You really do not want this in pregnancy. One can advise if it must be used, to test glucose and electrolyte regular otherwise safer to avoid its use.

    As pregnancy progresses,
count the days until you approach your third trimester when more things are allowed in pregnancy, more interventions can be done as your doctors suggests. Worse case scenario is a (not your portion) laparoscopic surgery to remove troublesome cysts even before delivery.

    On Behalf of Stella,

    Bless,
    eDoc

  38. My dear, I was 8 months pregnant wen I started having severe pains by my right side. On getting to the hospital, I was told it was appendicitis and needed to be removed. I was booked for the surgery immediately so that it doesn't rupture. On opening me up inside the theatre, a giant sized twisted ovarian dermoid cyst was discovered inside my tummy and it was also removed. It actually turned out to be what was causing the severe pain I was experiencing. The surgey didn't still affect me from having my baby though. U need to listen to what ur doctor tells u. If u r not comfortable with the doctor's advice, u can seek a second opinion from another gynae.

    3. My dear, I actually gave birth 4 days after the surgery to a premature baby who spent about 4 days in the incubator and came out hale and hearty. She is doing well now. The delivery was without a surgery though. Guess baby wanted to ease my pains and decided to just come out on her own cos immediately she came out, the pain became history. There's nothing that God can not do just believe Him and watch Him perform wonders.
