Buhari Tells BH ''Release Chibok Girls,I Will Give You Amnesty

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to grant amnesty to Boko Haram insurgents on the condition that they freed all the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.
The President, made this known during his three-day visit to France in an interview with Agence France Presse on Wednesday.

Buhari told AFP that the Federal Government was negotiating with Boko Haram’s prisoners and could offer them amnesty if the extremist group hands over more
than 200 schoolgirls abducted from their hostel at the Chibok Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State on April 14, 2014.

He said, “We are trying to see whether we can negotiate with the Boko Haram prisoners in our custody for the release of the Chibok girls.

“If the Boko Haram leadership eventually agrees to turn over the Chibok girls to us, the complete number, then we may decide to give them (the prisoners) amnesty.”
Buhari, who has promised to stamp out the group’s bloody six-year insurgency, said the government would not release any prisoners unless it was convinced it could “get the girls in reasonably healthy condition.”
“We are trying to establish if they are bona fide, how useful they are in Boko Haram, have they reached a position of leadership where their absence is of relevance to the operation of Boko Haram?” he said.

He added, “The main conventional attacks, where Boko Haram use armoured cars they took from the Nigerian troops, or mounted machine-guns on pick-up vehicles and so on, we believe by the end of the three months, we will see the end of that.
“What may not absolutely stop is the occasional bombings by the use of improvised explosive devices.

“We do not expect a 100 per cent stoppage of the insurgency.”

    2. Amnesty? LOL! I've have never really agreed with the theory of the missing babes. IMO it was a great propaganda used to destabilize Jonathan.
Well assuming there are any girls, granting amnesty to BH is a slap on the face of the brave soldiers who have given up their lives for this country. It's an insult on the unmarked graves of those who were brutally murdered. A dent on the image of this country called Nigeria. Where have you seen a terrorist being granted amnesty? Only in naija! Why? Because they are northerners! The north will easily mention the Niger delta militants. Forgetting that those people didn't go on a killing spree like their brothers. They were only fightingfor their rights. BH practically seceded by renaming those villages captured by them. The result of a secession in any sane clime should be war. they should all be thrown into gas chambers, they deserve the William Wallace treatment. But what is the government talking about? AMNESTY!

  7. Haha she oro niyen??. If BH members are granted amnesty on any ground then Buhari will be confirming that he has a hand in forming the sect. In fact there is nothing good that'll come from his administration in Nigeria. Grant which people Amnesty? after all the wasted lives, young women that have become widows because their husbands are soldiers that went to fight boko haram, parents that have lost their children, children that have become fatherless in the fight against BH. What becomes of the efforts of those soldiers that some back brained Nigerians still accuse of not doing anything after they put their lives in line. Which chibok girls sef, will they be returned as they were taken or with pregnancies and disturbed minds, they've even been forced into Islam ( that's if any girls are missing sef) Buhari had better not play rough play. Amnesty ko, who even dialogues with terrorists?

  8. The abduction of the Chibok girls by the insane boko haram terrorists while tragic should not and cannot drive the government of the Federal Republic into irrational negotiations. While I sincerely sympathize with the families of the victims of these lunatics for the harrowing torture perpetuated day by day, it is also beneficial to pause for a moment and understand that government cannot go into negotiation with these criminals in the hope of getting these beautiful souls back.

The President is on the right track by seriously looking into who to negotiate with and on what terms. But if we allow these terrorists to set the agenda for us, we are going to be in much worse situation on the long run. If we have to trust them, and that is a big if, we must be able to verify their trustworthiness. Going into negotiation without due diligence is not only stupid but suicidal as a nation. We should take whatever noise coming from boko haram's camp with a grain of salt.

I know that President Buhari doesn't need my advice on this issue but he should continue to tread cautiously and should not be railroaded into making irrational decisions simply for political expediency. May God bless the President and his advisers and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

    Ghanaman signing out!!!

  12. I thought he said they are all scattered by now. Most of them have been give out, warming their beds and some sold into slavery. Some may even be dead and gone. If BK agrees to this, they will mix up all the People they have and call them chibok girls. They should release all the people they have held captive. Others are equally important.

  15. All these are stories and story well scripted ,there is nothing like chibok girls story, everything was scripted ,soon faces of some girls are going to be shown and assumed as chibok girls ,so that Buhari will have a name as the hero who brought the girls out, most of us are not stupid ,it was all done to mess Jonathan,s government loose and have a bad name ,he succeeded, even though I didn't vote Jonathan in ,I didn't want. Either Jonathan again or Buhari to rule ,Buhari is worse ,I also wanted Jonathan to go and rest cos the trouble in Nigeria is too big for a soft Person like him,I preferred Fashola or Atiku.this chibok nonsense is a fake story, all planned.

These people do not have a face, not even one sect.
How many of their fractions will they invite for the negotiation? How many Shekaus? Dead and alive?
Except Federal Govt both past and present know more than us,i don't think is wise!

They do not even have a cause for God's sake! No direction, one minute they are bombing mosques, next, churches, they are highly erratic

  24. There is nothing like Chibok girls, they only used it to mess Jonathan's government up.Baba go slow said recently that the Chibok girls have dispersed and some married off. Amnesty for what? What are they demanding for? At least Niger Delta militants demanded for what is due to them from the oil proceeds.

  25. Granting amnesty to terrorists? after all the damages they have done..please these terrorists should be executed.

  27. Is it just me or is it a bit weird the way that Nigerians find out about what Buhari is up to from his foreign interviews. Do the Nigerians he rule not deserve the respect of him issuing statements in Nigeria where he talks about what he plans to do? We seem to hear more about his plans from interviews/reports he grants outside the country. He needs to realize that it is not foreigners he needs to impress but rather the very people that voted him into office.
I find it very distasteful that we keep hearing about vital issues from external interviews.
