Abia Senator Tells Buhari That Sidelining Ndigbo Is A Time Bomb Waiting To Explode

The Senator representing Abia North district, Mao Ohuabunwa has reminded President Muhammadu Buhari, that his administration would not function well without the Igbos.

Ohuabunwa, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party Senator, made the statement on Saturday while speaking with journalists in Umuahia, Abia State capital.

The legislator expressed disappointment in Buhari for snubing the South East zone in his appointments so far.

He said, “I don’t believe we can be running this country without Ndigbo. I believe that sidelining Ndigbo is a time bomb that is waiting to explode.”

Ohuabunwa enjoined Buhari to stop denying Ndigbo opportunities to serve in his administration under the pretense of searching for saints, contending that Ndigbo parades an army of people with unquestionable character.

“But since the man said he is looking for people with impeccable character, lets assume he hasn’t found any among South East APC members. Let him come to me and I would donate a man of integrity to him”, he added.

    1. What people don't understand is that these statements actually have nothing to do with ndi igbo. An average Igbo man has benefited NOTHING from politics even during the time of Our so called brother Goodluck. Igbos are hustlers and have been making their own money from time immemorial. Those who need political appointments should speak for themselves and stop acting like they're speaking in the interest of ndi igbo. All we want is a better Nigeria, an enabling ground to make cool cash and not all these political noisemaking

  4. If they think Nigeria cannot function without the igbos then they should go to their biafra and form their own government full of igbos and leave the rest of Nigeria to get on with governing themselves in peace.
    Is it by force.

    1. @ anonymous , I'm not in support of my people begging for appointments but it'll be unfair to presume that Igbos do not add value to the country. They are a hardworking people who were taught to fend for themselves.

These politicians are fighting for their own pockets and not benefit of the Igbos. That being said, Buhari can appoint whomever he sees fit as long as they get the job done.

Ndigbo will resist at all cost any attempt to sideline them in the affairs of this country.
You can't deny them their dream homeland and refuse to accept them fully as citizens of the country
And this is not the sixties. Time and things ve changed.

  11. I am tired of igbo elders seriously, i hate reading comments like ohuabunwa's on social media. They create more hatred among the youths on social media. Social media attacks nowadays on ethnicity are due to comments like his and other elders, makes no sense to me.
Mr Ohuabunwa, why not channel your energy to Abia state government. The people of Abia state deserve good leadership than your comment on why igbo's are yet to be elected into cabinet. Some of you benefitted a lot during Jonathan regime, none of us shared the national cake with you guys. Why drag a whole tribe into your madness?
You can do better criticising your state government than a president who is yet to elect his cabinet.

    3. @Queen nwanyioma, no one have taken me away. We have to speak up when is necessary, the crying by our leaders wont change anything until we change our attitude towards nation building. We have more than 100tribes in Nigeria but we are the most hated. Don't you think we have problem? Our elders created so much hatred among us. None of them fighting for so called igbo's are genuine, they are fighting for their selfish interest. If war break up today, do you think our so called senator will stay in Nigeria to fight for you and me? of-course not. I do not care who rule Nigeria, PMB can elect all his hausa brothers after 4years we will start to look into his government as well. Let's criticise when is necessary and our criticism should also reflect togetherness and good governance not war or inciting word.

There was (is) militancy in Niger delta, there is bokoharam in d north and presently d indigbos are being sideline won't that motivate biafrians to defend their right as a Nigerians in whatever means?
Forget about that this senator is a PDP member he is saying d truth. Buhari should caution and advice. We don't want unrest in east and west bcos once that happen couple with what is happening in oda region, Nigeria is doom but GOD FORBID.

  34. Part of good governance is getting all hands on deck- igbos, Yorubas , Hausa , ibidio , Fulani etc. PMB not choosing from any part is not a good sign. The constitution is a guide to good governance . So , not following the constitution as stipulated is wrong whether it affects the igbos , Yoruba or any tribe. And you BVs that are talking, be fair in your judgement because what goes around comes around. It may be another tribe tomorrow or it may affect you next time and you will not like it. To make this country great , we must be truly nationalistic and honest irrespective of tribe.
