Is the paying of the bride price same thing as the traditional wedding or is it different in some tribes?I am made to understand that this isnt the traditional wedding and that it would come up soon.My source says it was just the bride price paying ceremony.
Nice pictures. Wishing them the very best. I hope this man divorced his ex properly first oo.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the stages. In my place, we do the introduction then the bride price is paid during the traditional ceremony.
Trad ceremony and bride price paying are the same thing. I don't know why your source will say traditional marriage will come up later. Wetin them wan do then? Eat yam and oil?
DeleteCoded babe!
DeleteYour hubby looks like all this onitsha business man tho!
Enjoy your marriage!
@anon 8:03.
DeleteDats in your place. Ok.
There are 4 stages
Delete1. Introdonkowa (introduction)
2. Ime ego (bride price/dowry payment)
3.wine carrying
4. Bia malu uno(the family of the bride goes to see where their daughter is being married to)
But most people combine no2 and no3.
Eastwestern
Congrats to them. She looks really happy and beautiful.
DeleteIn my part of the country bride price nd traditional marriage is same thing.
Meanwhile, men wearing this kind of lace is tacky. And Tonto just use that her ludicrous wrapper tying style to cover her bump.
DeleteWhat is 'introdonkowa"?
DeleteThis una Igbo language sef.
There's nothing like introdonkowa in the Igbo lingo.. it's iku aka
DeleteIntrodonkowa na broken English for introduction. It's not igbo
DeleteWhy them wear different laces for the first pix na? Abi dat tym her tailor never bring her own? Wetin concern me self. Congratulations my lov
ReplyDeleteDat time d man neva pay
DeletePeople will always complain.
DeleteFunny enuf I ddnt even notice she wore two different blouses and two different Headties on the same wrapper. Till I went back up to look again.
DeleteTonto come and answer your query oh
Obviously she wore more than one attire
Delete@christy, and the gele for the first pic better oo, as in when it comes to the tying oo
DeleteShe looks so beautiful and happy. I'm happy for her. HML to them.
ReplyDeleteIt's at the traditional marriage that bride price is paid but since they've decided to separate it, good for them. Money dey na.
Cynthia,
DeleteIgbos do it separately .
Maybe bcos of our money.
She is not igbo
DeleteRivers people, make una answer. Cos in my town its the same as traditional marriage.
ReplyDeleteI hope her weed smoking and craziness will stop henceforth.
Aces and spades.
DeleteIgbos do it separately .
I don't know if it is bcos of their money.
Have you ever caught her smoking weed or running naked in the street?
I hope you envious of her exceptional beauty.
Haters must die young
DeleteStop hating
You no whether na d weed or craziness make d guy marry am? Why can't you just let people live their lives the way they want it and how does it affect ur life?
DeleteLovely. Hml to Churchill and Tonto
ReplyDeleteShe's married already. The rest na formality
DeleteTonto Dike is a sign that anything you want to do in this world should be done with confidence. You don't need to carry natural hair and no make up to settle down well. She was supposed to be "unwifeable".
DeleteIn contrast however, it's also a sign that all your sins are forgiven the moment you get married. Even if you be stripper before like Karen Igho or igbo smoker, so far you dey man house you're now a good person. If somehow, in the middle of the marriage it doesn't work out, all your past sins will resurface and people will withdraw their fake congratulations.
Deep.
DeleteThe bride price is different from the traditional marriage.
ReplyDeleteIt is meant to tell other boyfriends and secret admirers to back of.
Not in all tribes. In my part of nigeria it's same
DeleteIn igbo land it's not different.. You pay bride price on the same day of traditional marriage.. The ceremony is to show that bride price has been collected and to let the kinsmen know
Delete@Fab mum, not always true in some parts of Igbo land. Some marriage rites in my place stops @Ime ego pending when the guy gets enough money to do the igbankwu(trad)that one no be beans. Ime ego(dowry)is compulsory but trad. is not. Culture is dynamic.
DeleteIt's the same thing abi your source no go school ni aunty Stella. Happy married life to the new couple. May God's blessings over shadow your home
ReplyDelete@trapqueen.
DeleteIgbos do it separately.
I don't know if it is bcos of their money.
Ode ni yin
DeleteIs tonto igbo? @ money maker
DeleteI am sorry.
DeleteShe is a yoruba.
Money maker, igbo's do it separately but Tonto is from rivers state
DeleteAll these things wey una dey speak here!...is she a igbo!!!? nooo she is a yoruba!!!! Deriz God oooo!
DeleteI'm happy for her. May God bless their marriage .
DeleteHer happiness is infectious.
ReplyDeleteCongrats poko baby
Your source is Rukky Sanda abi.
ReplyDeleteLet her continue doing "source"
Tonto is wise enough to learn from the mistakes of her older ones in the industry that is why she got married.
The rest are moving from one man to another.
By the way, shame on Malivehood and his fake diamonds, continue Golddigging and socialclimbing with that worwor Ex Gov daughter.
XOXO MYSTERY
Am so happy for her jare..
DeleteMay God bless her home.
Its the same thing and done same day, as a big girl concern even if she one divide the white wedding into three parts, all well and good
ReplyDeleteBride price is same as trado! ...if u get money excess u can separate. Outside dat, traditionally, she's married. Abi Stella u no do traditional marriage ni?!
ReplyDeleteI think this is d traditional marriage proper judging from d crowd in the other post. So the next shld be d church wedding since they have allegedly done the court marriage.
ReplyDeleteWhy the guy keep face like who them force to pay!? Anyways they both look good together! Congrats! Poko there! Ya daddy!
ReplyDeleteU seff do go marry.
DeleteIn my own side, you can decide to either separate it or do it Same day with traditional wedding but you must not wear the same cloth during dowry payment and you don't play music too..
ReplyDeleteEvery tribe with their individual rites...
Am so happy for Tonto... I wish them peace..
Same as my place...no music.
DeleteCongratulations Tonto my love
ReplyDeleteHaters must die young
Stop hating
It's the same thing joor don't know what they are saying
ReplyDeleteHml to her
Shhe is so pregy
ReplyDeleteShe looks very radiant and happy,i pray the happiness continues in her life.
ReplyDeleteIn some tribes it's same and in others it isn't but I know say this one na because money dey that's why dem do am like dis
I wonder what she would say when her child asks her about the monstrosity of a tattoo at her back....
ReplyDelete"At HER back"
DeleteKey word- "HER"
Tattoos can't stop you from being a good mother. Naija mentality. Angelina Jolie has tattoos. She's an accomplished married mother, well established in her acting career and a United Nations ambassador. Nobody is perfect, wish her well and move on abeg.
DeleteCongrat to them
ReplyDeleteI dn't know abt the ikwerre tradition but where I come frm in Rivers state, the bride price is paid on the traditional wedding day.
ReplyDeleteHappy married life.. God bless your home dear.
ReplyDeletePaying bride price is the main traditional rite,d traditional marriage is just a ceremony after bride price has been paid.just like a church exchange of vows and reception.
ReplyDelete....congrats to Mr and Mrs Churchill!wish them luck
You make sense
DeleteShe seems really happy.HMl Tonto. Ur haters are eating bak their words. No one's future is written in stone.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations
ReplyDeleteStudio wedding
ReplyDeleteCongrats to them
ReplyDeleteCongrats tontolet darling, happy for you.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for her
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Tonto.
ReplyDeleteThere is introduction, paying of bride price/dowry, traditional marriage(igba nkwu), ogo malube (the girl's family will go to the boy's family). But nowadays, some people do combine paying of bride price with traditional marriage. Ordinarily they are two different things.
Congratulations Tonto, God bless your home dearie.
ReplyDeleteTonto Dikeh"s smile in those picx isnt genuine, looks like she was forced into this marriage. wishing both a successful wedding
ReplyDeleteNigerians just like wahala abeg. what's the difference between bride price and traditional marriage; my earlier understanding was that bride price is paid as part of the traditional marriage...but then what do I know.. #sipsCoffeeandlooksaway
ReplyDeleteThey are two different ceremonies but can be done as one ( no more possible in my place - Akwa IBOM- because the intricacies involved would mean that people will leave you there as na night ur trad go happen..it takes a whole day)
ReplyDeleteIt's now done separately, most times just some days to the ceremony itself . It is when the things on the list is being presentedand the bride price officially paid...the bride price paying is not as elaborate as the traditional marriage ceremony itself, there's still eating and drinking etc but no need to dress all fancy as it's mainly just family on the to sides and very close fiends unless, of course, you have the money to spend😜.
indeed , once the bride price is paid you are officially married..the ceremony thereafter is just that.. A ceremony to present you as a married woman and to 'feed the village'. The bride price paying is the main deal.
I was there LIVE!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Tonto...
