Saraki Allegedly Reaches Out To Tinubu.

The battle of wills rocking the leadership of the All Progressives Congress may soon be over.
Multiple sources reveal to Punch that contrary to his public posturing of defiance, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had started reaching out to some of the aggrieved leaders of the party.
Saraki is one of the gladiators in the clash of egos and wills that followed the Senate leadership election on June 9 and subsequent appointment of principal officers.

The Senate President had earlier visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to help him beg President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also reportedly met with the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, on the same matter.

During the week, some emissaries sent by Saraki met with President Buhari and sought forgiveness for the Senate President for acting contrary to the dictates of the party.
The emissaries included Senate Leader Ali Ndume, Senator Kabiru Gaya, Senator Adamu Aliero, Senator Danjuma Goje, and Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
A report in a national daily on Saturday also said the emissaries apologised to the President for the individual roles they played in the crisis.

However, sources revealed on Saturday that the emissaries also had a brief to meet with the party’s national leader and former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu.

Many within the party see the crisis as a battle of wills with Buhari, Tinubu and some party leaders on one side of the ring and the Senate President and his backers on the other side. One of the prominent APC leaders that is believed to have backed Saraki is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

But sources told punch that Saraki, of recent, had made strenuous efforts to meet and appeal to Tinubu to sheathe his sword.
Saraki’s olive branch to Tinubu may mark a turning point in the crisis as the Senate President, before now, had insisted that he would not ‘beg’ the APC leader.
But the sources added that Saraki might have changed his position when all his efforts to get President Buhari to forgive him for his defiance to the party and move on is not working.
It has been widely reported that Buhari has refused all entreaties to host the Senate President at the Presidential Villa since the controversial election in the senate. The President had also said the leadership of the senate should tow the party line.

  2. It will be the height of disgrace and shameless if Tinubu is to eat his own words. He had earlier vowed that "I am not God but I will never recognize Saraki as the Senate president"
Tinubu will be known forever as a sissy should he back down on his request for Saraki's resignation.
I don't know why Tinubu think that nigerian is the same as oduduwa republic.

In a sane society, tinubu should have been tried for treason for that statement. How can you refuse to recognise someone that was nominated and duly elected the number 3 citizen and chairman if the nass?

  4. Well am already impressed by saraki, he came, saw and conquered. He beat both the presidency, party and leaders and achieved his dream. Also got his own people as principal officers and ensured his opponents had nothing. Thats the way to fight smart cos if his enemies are in principal positions, they will easily bring about his downfall.
All these people saying they are aggrieved are def not democrats and have only their interest. They say party is supreme, but isnt it people that make the party? So who are these people that are supreme? Are they or the part more supreme than the constitution?

That by the way...let them put aside their differences and move this nation forward cos i see greed and power mongers derailing this administration.

  8. Do as you like and ask for forgiveness later. Saraki sure knows how to play the game. Permanent interest is all what politics is about.
Baba tinunbu should remember that sometimes students become smarter than teachers even before the graduate from a class.
Buhari will never forgive. That man hates insubordination too much. He will only pretend to have forgiven. Fear men of little words cos you can never guess half of their thoughts or next line of action.

    1. Hmmmm u may be right. I don't see this coming off so quickly. Saraki's apology may have a caveat to it... it could mean.... I'm sorry but I still call the shots here.. or....I'm sorry because I need the President to attend to me... so really, Tinubu would understand all these and my not sure he'll give in to the 'apology'. If truly he's sorry, why did it take this long to reach out? And why did he decide to apologise only when the president gave him a cold shoulder?

Meaning, if he had gotten the president to attend to him Tinubu would be inconsequential to his affairs. So I guess he was talked into this move by some elders who think that it'll do the trick and perhaps get him on the President's good books yet again. We shall see though

  10. He can not be trusted ever again so he should forget about forgiveness, not that he is sorry any way just planning another political coup. Will he remove the opposition he planted there against his party.
