Hmmm so a thief can now break into University hostels when there is security supposedly there?
After reading this,i am left to conclude that this theft was carried out with the help of ''insiders'' either at the gate or in one of the rooms.
Hi Stella,
I'm writing you this email to tell you about an armed robbery that happened in Moremi a female hostel in University of Lagos. It happened around 3am on the 6th of August, just yesterday. Two rooms were robbed. A total of 5 Laptops and 13 phones were stolen. Stella this guy obviously used something to make everyone sleep off. Because it is not possible that a room where 20 people( the room is a 12 man room o) slept a thief will come and no one will wake up.
The other room had 10 people and no one also woke up. The occupants of the 10 man room later woke up and noticed and decided to go report to the security. As they were reporting to the security, someone sighted a man running away, people chased the man and ran after him. The man scaled the fence because the gate was locked. A female student scaled the fence with the man and started Wrestling the thief hoping that the security will join and catch the thief but the security didn't even leave their post. The girl was struggling with the thief and he was hitting her with sticks and iron until another girl jumped in to help but the thief pushed the first girl and ran away because he knew he couldn't handle the two girls.
The security system in this institution is wack! Rather than tackle the security that didn't respond, the hall mistress decided to blame the students. They blamed us for not locking our doors meanwhile we had complained that our door was bad.
Most students that their laptops were stolen are final year students writing their final project. The DSA( Dean of student affairs) and CSO (chief security officer) came and only talked about security.we could have been raped or kidnapped or even killed.
We need the school to buy our gadgets for us because we need them. We paid for insurance!! And we all know how things are difficult in Nigeria. Our parents cannot buy them again , it is the duty of the school because we were robbed in the school
HELP US PLEASE !!! We need publicity for this. We need Unilag to answer fast because we need to submit our projects. Or they should give us the money equivalent of our gadgets.

That is how a 400level chemical engineering student died just like that,he slumped on the field right inside school premises, the young man was gasping for breath when they rushed him down to health centre nurses said there is no oxygen students asked for ambulance so they can rush him down to bowen teaching hospital but the nurses said they used to go buy food chai befor students could get a cab and take him down the guy died! They point back at the students for their faults.

Lord have mercy. The guy obviously used jazz. I hope the school does something about it because I remember then in Uniben when a room in hall 2 got burnt, the school gave the occupants 10k each. Lol! Imagine. As if 10k will replace anything tangible. Sorry girls, start looking for alternatives for ur projects coz its going to be quite difficult to get them back.

Uniben is free frm clemetus is nw unilag, na wa o dis also happen in uniben 2yrs ago where clemetus will enter rooms and steal tins laptop nd fones even money. Clemetus is a guy dat was once caught in d female hostel stealing so since then if anyone steal we call them clemetus. they where not able to catch any of them whn it was serious they hav to make d fence very high with wires too. Thank God we are free frm clemetus but we can't jump in whn d hostel gate is lock at 12am, but thank God nw dat it has been resolved dat u can enter d hostel anytime I heard with ur I'd card. Cox me I no dey go nite class o or do love gutter tins. Bye.

I graduated 6 years ago and in my third and fourth year we had cases of men coming in to rob and escape without the authority Doing anything . If your door is bad ladies I don't want to believe that a 12 man room cannot contribute to fix the door . Be waiting for moremi officials to fix it by then you will be stripped naked while sleeping .

Stella, dis is a normal thing that happens in Unilag. When I was in 200level Madam Tinubu Hall it happened too. I was awake. It was around 3am. My rommie was playing a Muslim song on her BlackBerry so I couldn't get enuf sleep. Next tin I dosed off for just 2mins. Wat woke me up was the loud scream of my Bunkie saying her lapi was gone. She kept it on the slab near the window. The curtain was flowing which showed it hasn't been long the thief left. We got to the porters lodge to complain. Lo and behold our porters dey snore one of them even had saliva flowing from his mouth. We explained what happened. They began to run up and down looking for a thief that has left a long time ago. Next tin they did was to search our luggage. They said they wanted to be sure we weren't raising false alarm. By 7am another room also said they had been robbed over night. That armed robber rubbed all the rooms at different edges downstairs. Truth be told Stella, UNILAG is not well fenced. We are faced with bariga on one side, makoko on the other side. So pple come thru the bushes. I can't count the number of times some destitutes break our walls to peep at us when washing or bathing. The school has to be properly fenced. Even moremi Hall is open too. U can see makoko from there. Honours Hall nko! Infact those ones see makoko wella. Anyone can pass thru there and enter unilag. Those gates are just for design I tell u. I hope say I no talk plenty sha #sideeyes.
