Bright Ejike and five other home-based players have been released from the Super Eagles camp by coach Sunday Oliseh.
The Heartland striker is currently the second leading scorer in the league with 11 goals so far. Others dropped include Warri Wolves’ Lordson Ichull and Heartland’s pair of Nelson Ogbonnaya and David Obiazo.
Kingsley Sokari and Oghenekaro Etebo are off to join up with the U-23 team, who are currently preparing for the All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
Fresh faces are expected to replace them, when the camp re-opens in Abuja next week.
Sunshine Stars captain, Dayo Ojo, will lead other invited players like Paul Onobi (Sunshine), Okiemute Odah (Warri Wolves), Abdulrazak Aliyu (Enyimba), Godwin Obaje (Wikki), Bature Yaro (Nasarawa United) and Austin Obaroakpo (Abia Warriors).
Oliseh will pick just five players from the training camp, for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam.
