Governors of the 36 states in Nigeria met with the UN Secretary General Bank Ki Moon on Sunday August 23 to discuss sustainable development goals being put in place to replace the Millennium Development Goals, MDGs.
The decision is one of the resolutions reached by the governors at the end of their meeting under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors Forum,NGF, which held at the Transcorp HIlton Hotel Abuja on Wednesday.
The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from reducing extreme poverty rates to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, – form a plan agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions.
The target date of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is 2015.
