The governor who further explained that the decision was part of the process of attaining the TSA, said all banks that maintain the accounts of the government have not only been put on notice to close them, but have also been asked to remit the balances to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, which will host the state’s TSA.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, says that the directive was given at a meeting with officials of all the banks hosting the state government’s revenue and expenditure accounts. The meeting was also attended by the Kaduna State Branch Comptroller of the CBN.
El-Rufai went on to disclose that after the establishment of the TSA, the state government will open specified sub-accounts with the CBN and the commercial banks.
“The banks’ officials present assured the governor that within five working days of receiving the formal instructions from the state government, they will close the accounts and remit the balances to the TSA,” he said.
While commending the banks for their continued support, the Governor assured them that a session will be organized to explain to the banks how the new TSA and the sub-accounts will work.
The statement, which disclosed that selected revenue-holding accounts will be excluded from this directive, revealed that the government will publish needed Treasury Circulars and other instructions to give effect to the decisions.

ReplyDeleteKudos mallam
Ok
DeleteWe have heard!
Now this is commendable and transparent. If all the state government can do this it would be fantastic. But for where? They'll be upset with this initiative now, and they'll start saying it's eye service or holier than thou attitude. Trust Nigerians to find fault in the good and bad. Yeah, change is here indeed!!!!
Delete@ SISI ur absolutely right. Nigerians will always find a way to condemn good intention. They will label it witch hunt.
DeleteYou're right on Nigeria not being the same after all these. But just hope all isn't another scam in disguise.

ReplyDeleteIf this guy is not himself corrupt, why has he refused to make his assets declaration public?
All local newspaper sometime ago wrote that he is worth N90B.He vehemently denied the report and promised legal action against the newspaper. Up till now, he is yet to take the newspaper to the court.
I am not buying into all these hype until I see the impact ie improvement in the lives of the masses.
Ur so shallow Minded. Ur blinded by ur sentiment. What did you gain in the past 16yrs. Wake up! Support good.

ReplyDeleteWay to go
ReplyDeleteI pray its in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteWell Nigeria can never be same again, we voted for change and will surely see change. El Rufia will take over from PMB after 4years in Aso rock,he is positioning himself for it and it will happen because he is one trusted Aid of the president. PMB won't be president for more than 4 years, he just want to put things in place and handle power over to El Rufia afterwards El Rufia will rule Nigeria for another 8years, then power will shift to the east after El Rufia. Although Bukola is positioning himself for presidency in 4 years time reason he is acting like silician mafia but his corruption allegations will not let such happen. All eyes are on how kaduna state will be governed by El Rufia.
ReplyDeleteI implore my igbo brothers/sisters especially young politicians to bridge the gap in the coming years, make peace with the north and south because after northern presidency there's no excuse for an easterner not to be a president, but we need to work for it and act like people who want united Nigeria not divided Country. To achieve such we need to work together in support of current administration, i have the feeling PMB will change south south and south east more than your past PDP governments. He just started with ogoni clean up, something former president from same region couldn't do for years.
History have shown that no tribe can ever rule Nigeria alone without the support of the other tribes, our mistake of the past election should be an eye opener because it was a blind support. Let us support good governance/leadership and cry for change as Nigerians, drop sentiments as the country belong to us. Just imagine 70% of young people here having jobs after graduation/good social system/security/light everyone will be more proud of Nigeria.
Happy weekend to everyone.
Nice one, but will the igbos understand that.
DeleteIf you believe that PMB will just lead for 4yrs, then I have no words for you....
DeleteLet's see how it turns out. I pray your speculations turn out correct.

ReplyDeleteMy Governor doing well since ...19 taba ka lashe.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion i think he will do a good job. He's the only one that transformed a state to something reasonable . Abuja today is what it is cos of him. How many Governors can boast of such development with all the money we have. Most states are nothing to write home about.
