PERIOD NOT SEEN FOR A MONTH.
I haven't seen my period since last month and I did a pregnancy test with that pt test which came out negative, yesterday i went to see a doctor around my area and she wrote a note for me to go to a lab, the note says.... HVS MCS, PELVIC MCS.
Please help, i want to know what the meaning is and what could probably be the cause of this lost period, thanks a lot.

DeleteAjuju!!...
ReplyDeleteLol HVS means High vaginal swab d MCS means Microscopy, culture and sensitivity. Ders nufin to worry about poster. Deyl jes take a sample from ur vagina nd run tests on it and ur pelvic as well.
DeleteA doctor wrote HVS MCS, PELVIC MCS and you happily brought it here for us to digest.
ReplyDeletengwanu doctor helep this patiente.

ReplyDeleteovet to the real doctors

Go for the test and you will be fine.
ReplyDeleteGo to another lab for blood test.
ReplyDelete*Larry was here*
No idea
ReplyDeleteHVS means High vaginal swab, and MCS means microscopy/culture and sensitivity. Basically she is trying to test for any infection, same with pelvic MCS.
ReplyDeleteAnyways if uv only missed ur period for a month , wait a little and do the pregnancy test again, it sometimes takes a while to test positive as it depends on the sensitivity of the test device u r using.
Also, depending on a few things it might be normal. Recent stress/ recent travel/ diet etc or if ur period has not always been regular.
But for u to be worried about it means there might be something. Do u av any vaginal discharge?? Are there any other symptoms?? Nipple discharge ? Abnormal hair growth etc...
Give it a bit more time and it would be easier for both u and the doctor to interpret the symptoms.
All the best o!
U were sounding sensible until u said same with pelvic mcs, like seriously??? What da fuck is a pelvic mcs?
DeleteIn as much as I know what the doctor was tryna say bt abeg such is unacceptable.
Poster there isn't such a thing as a pelvic mcs
thanks, i dont have any symptoms o and the discharge i have its the normal discharge i do have, then i stressed myself at work towards the end of July, dunno if that's the cause
DeletePelvic MCS...Lols. how do they collect that?I am sure you met a drop out med student.
DeleteGo and do the test you were asked to do jare
DeleteBe healed

DeleteMadam go and do d test first and ur doctor would relate further with u.
ReplyDeleteThe above simply means high vagina swab microscopy culture and sensitivity and then pelvic microscopy culture and sensitivity
Bt this ur doctor sha!!! Which one is pelvic mcs??? Madam in my years of practice i haven't heard of pelvic mcs o? Na d bone dey wan culture? Hahaha.
He shouldav been more specific
I was surprised when I saw pelvic mcs too, because I have never heard of it, but maybe the lady didnt read the note well lol
DeleteNo wonder u diagnosed UTI from HVS and MCS lol. For UTI they will request urine sample.
DeleteIn ur years of practice as a quack nurse abi??
DeleteOh elena that was not for(my first ans) Na mistake before someone will think u did. Sorry.
Delete@presidents wife *in ur dreams though*.
DeleteObviously u must have noticed that I dnt trade words with idiots and as such don't owe one an explanation.
Bt seriously though don't let ur stupidy and silly ignorance, take a better part of u.
I dnt expect u to understand what either of the above is cos obviously an insane nitwit can't possibly understand what is written by a sane person
@anonymous 13:11...even lunatics are given d privilege to dream big once in a while bt it's so sad u r abusing such privileges.
No wonder who diagnosed what? U mustav been reading/read d wrong thread cos I can't possibly remember ever such a time where I made mention of som1 having UTI
U always sound miserable, bitter, furstrated and stupid in ur comments..Whats d causer?U need to be taking 5lits of honey everyday to sweeten ur miserable life. While u are at it,go and get laid!
Delete@anonymous 13:58 aiit hun...sorry I went overboard though...disregard d lunatic part *shinesteeth*
Delete@ Elena. "Insane nitwit" epic!!!

HVS MCS, PELVIC MCS???? hmmmm
ReplyDeleteHVS- High Vaginal Swap
ReplyDeleteM/C/S- Microscopy/Culture/Sensitive
This simply means the doctor is suspecting u have an infection so he wants them to take a sample from inside inside ur honeypot to test for infection.
Same will be done to d pelvic sample.
This will help d doc conclude on d right diagnosis.
Leave this blog n go get ur sample collected mbok
And do not take any antibiotics till they ve taken d sample.
Let's hope it ends there.
Ur P ll come
Wears back glasses and walks away

Madam go do ur test joor, when you get to the lab you can ask them
ReplyDeleteOver to u guys doctors!

ReplyDeleteSorry dear. Are you TTC?
ReplyDeletenooo, am not!
Deletethanks
Infection???
ReplyDeleteHVS MCS- High Vaginal Swap microscopy culture and sensitivity
ReplyDeletePelvic MCS- I want to believe she wanted to write Pelvic Scan not Pelvic MCS. From my understanding, Doctors don't request for pelvic MCS unless it's at surgery doing pelvic surgeries with pelvic abscesses and you what to culture a sample of the pelvic abscess/aspirate collected.
In your own case, I can bet she meant to write pelvic scan
Lmao dem go break her hip extract am, u know how doctors handwriting can be maybe she didn't understand his writing.
Delete*during,want.
Delete@Anon 13:06, am guessing u r being sarcastic or you didn't understand my comment. Let me explain to you then. Normally, during surgeries when there is an abnormal finding let's say pus collection in the pelvis etc, it is normal practice to request for microscopy culture and sensitivity (if it's an abscess say pelvic abscess) or histology (if a suspected abnormal tissue).
I hope you are understand, right?
U clearly don't understand sarcasm, I laughed before (lmao ) making that statement. Stop the ITK.
DeleteThe doctor requested you go to the lab to run the HVC MCS and PELVIC MCS tests. It is to enable the lab technician or scientist detect or diagnose what is probably wrong with you whether you have a Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) or Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). ~I AM NOT A DOCTOR SHA OOOO~
ReplyDeleteNo wonder u diagnosed UTI from HVS and MCS lol. For UTI they will request urine sample.
DeleteGo for the test first and get back to your doctor. Lost period could be attributed to a number of factors e.g psychological issues like stress n thinking, some pills or medication you have taken could also suppress it,infection as well hence the test you were asked to undergo. Vagina swab n pelvic examination(gynaecological test) to check for infection. Kpele. Go for the test n report back to your doctor. Hopefully it might be nothing serious n u go see your period.
ReplyDeleteYou have an infection!
ReplyDeleteBut y did you ask the doctor or lab attendant the meaning?
Mtcheew.

ReplyDeleteHigh Vaginal Swab Microscopy and Pelvic Microscopy.
ReplyDeleteThey are medical lab tests, carried out by a lab scientist to determine what's happening within your reproductive system and be sure you don't have any disorders /disease in there.
I hope that's layman enough.
#WhiteDiamondOut
Will u sharrap and go to the lab! Or u jus want Stella to post ur message so u can feel fly, I jus can't deal with some people sha, nonsense and ingredients.... Mscheeeeew
ReplyDeleteKelvin dat Edo Boi
Lmao
DeleteGO TO THE POLICE STATION FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt means High Vaginal Swab (microscopy, culture and sensitivity)
ReplyDeleteThen Pelvic (microscopy, culture and sensitivity).
For the HVS MCS-Using a swab stick and a speculum (if you are not a V, that of a V will be done without a speculum),a swab of your vaginal discharge will be taken then cultured on agar in the lab to watch for growth of micro organisms. Results should be ready after 8hrs.
I don't know how a pelvic swab will be done.
This is the much I know.
U should have asked the Dr, Abi u no pay for consultation? Nigerians! Whenever a Dr tell u something u won't ask the meaning n come running to blogs to show ur dumb self. HVS MCS is high vaginally swab Microscopy/ Culture and Sensitivity, then pelvic MCS as explained earlier.
ReplyDeleteHVS MCS - Higher Vagina Swab/microscopy/culture test. Your discharge will be taken for a test.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what the other is.
Use google madam
Since u dunno d other. Y didn't u use Google to answer it..... Mtsheew
DeleteYou can as well Google them out.
ReplyDeleteJesus is Lord.
Doctors, oya oooo

amen o, i love you
DeleteDear poster,
ReplyDeleteAre u married?
Are u singles?
But nawa o why dint u ask d doctor d meanings of those terms.
Anyways, I pray u get d much needed explanation u want here.
Its well wt u!
Google my sister
ReplyDeleteLol,next time a Dr writes something nd u dn't understand, pls ask cos it's ur right to know the kind of tests u're asked to do or watever treatment regimen u're placed on. Yeah, its pelvic scan not pelvic mcs
ReplyDeleteAbeg make we dey try help ourselves sensibly. Doctor wrote or ordered lab tests, you did not ask what are the meanings of what she wrote. You carry the paper, fiam u came to the blog. Na wa o! You paid money for consultation, it is your right to know what tests are ordered & why. Why the fear of doctors in Africa bikonu? Eh? People, it is your, body & life. Discuss treatment plans or course of action with your doctors. Same with medications prescribed, ask about the side effects, ask if there's an alternative with lesser discomforting effects. If you can afford to stay on the Internet on social media for 12 hours, then you can afford googling stuff concerning your health. While the presence of your Doc, have a note book to take down notes so you can compare in case you seek a second opinion from another Doc. Ask questions. Let them not be faking very busy that we are so intimidated by them. Make we receive sense & courage in Jesus name.
ReplyDeleteI know we have Doctors & other Healthcare Practioners(Pharmacists, Registered Nurses, Midwives, Radiologists, LabTechs etc) on this blog who comment on health issues, I appreciate them, they should keep up the good work. Notwithstanding , we should get in the habit of discussing our health challenges face to face with the consulting physician first.
God bless.
Gbam
DeleteGo and do the test asap.
ReplyDeleteNo doctor will request pelvic MCS cos it doesn't exist. I am almost 100% certain your doctor wrote "Pelvic USS" which means "Pelvic ultrasound" (the usual "bad handwriting" of doctors, I suppose!!). Hopefully, your doctor will attend to your absence of menstruation, once pregnancy is excluded. The possible causes are many. Goodluck.
