Please help me post this in doctors in house section, I have read of different cases of AS on your blog, I dont know if this is different..
I am AC and the person I am dating is also AC, I love him very much but am really scared. I was told or read that if an AC marries an AC, there is a 25% percent chance of having a baby that is AA, 50% chance AC and 25% chance CC, and also that d CC is nothing like SS, I mean the crisis and all.
Please Doctors is it true?
Or has anyone had this experience or knows someone that does? Please help. God bless!

CONSEQUENCES OF MULTIPLE ABORTIONS?
I don't really know where my story fits in, so you should decide it.
I am a mother of two, and married. After my second child, I got pregnant a year later and Dh and I decided to abort cause of finance. After two more d$c, I went for family planning. I did the coil or whatever they call it.
After sometime, I started adding weight and I had this offensive smell emanating from my pussy. Dh then said I should remove the FP. After removing it I got pregnant three more times and did d$c again. Ever since, my period comes for just a day and stop.
Stella and bvs, I am shamed of myself. I feel so stupid and dejected. Now I have constant headache even after taking malaria and typhiod medication.
Please Stella and bvs, curse me all you want, cos there is nothing I have not told myself. I just need advice and if a kind bv that is a doc can give me a free check up. Please Stella, don't keep quiet even if you curse me I don't mind.

DeleteGood day. I read ur wtite-up on SDK blog. What I need you to know is that "abortion" is not synonymous with "D&C." An abortion is a termination of a pregnancy. It could be done with drugs/pills, or it could be done manually. There are two main methods used to do it manually: D&C and MVA. That means D&C is a method for abortion.
DeleteNow why I'm explaining all this is, u need to be sure if it was actually D&C that was done for you all those times. The reason is, D&C involves scraping the inside of the uterus (womb) to scrape out the developing baby. On the other hand, MVA involves putting a tube into your uterus and sucking out the developing baby; the sucking is done by connecting the tube to a machine that is set to suck at a reasonably low but effective pressure. MVA is the preferred method because the sucking is gentle and injury to the inside of the uterus is very rare unlike the D&C method where the doctor just keeps scraping what he cannot see directly, and scrapes and scrapes to ensure he removes everything and you don't keep bleeding afterwards. With D&C, over-zealous scraping by the doctor can result in injury to the membrane lining your uterus (this membrane is called the endometrium). When this happens, the inside surfaces of the uterus stick together when healing, and by the time the healing is complete, they are permanently stuck together by adhesive bands of fibrous tissue. This is called Asherman's syndrome (google it). If these bands are plenty, it means u now have less than normal of the membrane lining your uterus (the endometrium). Note that this endometrial lining is what produces your bleeding during menstruation, so your menstruation bleeding becomes less in both quantity and duration, or it may cease altogether if the bands also end up blocking the mouth of your womb (your cervix). If this kind of blockage occurs, the woman would feel more pain @the time she shld b seeing her periods but there would be no bleeding as the blood in there can't come out. Also, this endometrial lining is where your baby attaches to when you get pregnant, so usually if you have more of these fibrous bands and less endometrium, your baby won't find where to implant itself to develop for the 9 months, so the pregnancy would fail/ there'll be a miscarriage. That's why women with Asherman's syndrome have fertility issues most times. But if the bands are not too much, the baby might find a place to implant but as it keeps growing, the bands stop the placenta from moving up from the bottom of your womb which now affects the normal changes in position of the baby, so most women that get pregnant now have the placenta blocking the mouth of the womb where the baby is supposed to come out from, or their babies won't be head-first as is ideal.
Please also note that D&Cs are not d only causes of Asherman's syndrome; severe pelvic infections and surgeries like myomectomy (to remove fibroids), rarely C/S etc can also cause it
How to know if you have Asherman's syndrome? See your gynaecologist. U'd be asked to do an HSG scan that wld show if the inside of ur womb is ok. Of course u'd have 2 do a few other tests like hormone profile etc. If you do have it, it can be corrected surgically where the bands wld b removed.
Pls note, abortions are illegal in Nigeria so it's mostly quack doctors that hide and do it. Please if it must be done, ensure it's by MVA. Cheers. It's well.

CC kids are prone to aplastic crisis aldo not as severe as it's SS counterpart, they r also prone to gall stones,poor visions and splenomegally.

DeleteBeing a sickle cell patient. I can tell you first hand that you are going down a path you may not be strong enough for. Yes CC is not as bad as SS however, it comes with as much drama. Such children will be prone to a lot of medical issues from time to time such as inactions from cough, cold, malaria, etc. If you decide to go ahead just try the pregnancy testing stuff and have it at the back of ur mind to have maybe just one child. I thank God for blessing me with a husband who is AA. He is always faithful.

That been said, it means that u can have 4 children and all of them will be cc or any one of the above. Not that if u have 4 children 1 will be AA, 2 AC and 13. That is the mistake most pple make. So now, cc has crisis like S's and sc is no better. Though their crisis may not be as horrific as that of Ss, but they still experience jaundice and all. So madam that being said, u and oga are not compatible medically, because if u have as sc or cc child that is when u will know that love is not enough in marriage. Just imagine the emotional, psychological, financial trauma you will go through and also not forgetting the physical and all the above trauma the child will go trough as well. Poster 1. Medically, putting medel's into consideration, if AS and AS marries they will produce AA, AS, AS, SS. so it means you will have one SS out of every 4 children. Though it doesn't mean they will come out in those order, anyone of those genotype can come before the order.

There are other forms of family planning, like morning after pills and other drugs or even condoms which is a the best I recommend for unwanted pregnancies. .

I had IUCD for TWO YEARS thereabout and I did no add any weight (my weight fluctuates btwn 53-55kg). I have removed it and my weight is still d same. Poster 2 was supposed to go for testing first, before choosing a plan that is suitable for her.

ReplyDeleteDear poster 2, I am kind of disappointed with you. At this age and time, you ought to know how not to get pregnant, when not ready for it. That said, My concern for you is about the iud that you had implanted . Contrary to what doctors say about iud, and I don't know which one you got. But if you got the one called copper T iud, it makes you copper level to go up, because it is made of copper. And when your copper level Jacks up, it disrupts your hormones; which may explain your headache. If you listened to your body, you will see that headache is not the only health problem that you're currently having. I had iud for 2 years, and had it removed 2 years ago. But my life had been miserable for 4 years now, having it removed is not a solution, because it had already wreaked havoc. Going for hormonal imbalance tests is the key, followed by treatment . When you go for these tests, have a complete hormonal imbalance tests done. like cortisol, and DHEA levels, which has to do with your adrenal. My cortisol and dhea are were low, which explained my tiredness, and fatigue all the time. Complete thyroid hormone test, which checks your thyroid level, t3, t4, and tpo2. My t3 was low too, which explained my inability to fight infections, I have chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. Surgery is the only option that I have for those polyps. Then test for your sex hormones estrogen , progesterone and, testosterone. My estrogen level was good, but progesterone, and testosterone levels were low. The headache you are experiencing may be due to hbp, because higher than normal level of copper in the blood makes you to retain more sodium, which tends to make your blood pressure go up. The next thing is treatment, which may be expensive, and do more harm than good. Even, with me living in the USA, I still believe in herbs and roots, so I opted for herbal remedies. because orthodox medicine was doing me more harm than good. Now I take ashwagandha root capsules, an adaptogen that helps with adrenal hormone imbalance. It works by balancing all your adrenal hornomes, without raising one or decreasing the other. Rhodiola does the same. I take moringa leaf capsules also for all the b vitamins, because they help with adrenal and for all the vitamins like A ,C,D,and Also, moringa is a good source of antioxidants. And your adrenal controls your thyroid, so when your adrenal is ok, your thyroid will be, but make sure to eat iodide salt. iodine helps your thyroid. Lucky for me my hubby is AA, which made my 4 kids to be AC. I just go for counseling each time I had my baby.i have no disease and am 39 years old.
