Spokesman of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Colonel Rabe Abubakar yesterday assured Nigerians that the military will beat the December Presidential deadline of ending Boko Haram insurgency in the country.
Colonel Abubakar gave the assurance in a meeting with the editorial team of Media Trust Limited, publishers of the Daily Trust newspaper at its Abuja head office.
He said: “We are on course, to meet the deadline given to us by President Buhari, with the active collaboration of the Chief of Defense Staff and other Service Chiefs, the insurgency will definitely be over before the deadline or at worst on the deadline.”
He added that the military was poised to maintain the recent success recorded: “we will maintain that level of momentum; we are not going to fail Nigerians,” noting that: “I believe the activities of Boko Haram will very soon be a thing of the past.”
Abubakar, while stating that the military was not relenting to crush Boko Haram, appealed that: “we can achieve it by having a vibrant media on our side.”
He said his visit to the head office of Media Trust Limited was to push for partnership with the media towards ending the Boko Haram Insurgency.
Abubakar said, ”We count on you not only to report but campaign in such a manner that it will send messages to the insurgents and those who may be lured into it,” adding that: “If you champion this we may do away with Boko Haram.”
Fielding questions on the abducted Chibok School girls, Abubakar said: “the military is doing enough, the military; all of us are in the north east to ensure that, not just to finish Boko Haram but get our loved ones back.”
“I believe as we move on with our operations the possibility of getting them is hundred percent,” the Defence spokesman declared.
We pray o!
ReplyDeleteNa so, goodluck wit that guys!
DeleteWe don Hear
DeleteAmen ohh, but how many will have been dead before dat December, God pls take control
DeleteThe problem I always have with such statements is when they give a projected time in which they hope to conquer BH. These insurgents also read the news, and would work at truncating their efforts during the time frame given the public. Yes we trust they'lld be crushed soonest... but it's best to use the word 'soon' than giving a time or day that they hope to achieve it. That way the public won't hold your promises against u. Less tension. My opinion though
DeleteGood for them...
ReplyDeleteI pray!
DeleteYou ppl v started you stupid threats and empty promises, that angers them to start throwing bombs better allow them rest nw they r cooling off.
ReplyDeleteAs in eh....why blab about it to intensify BH anger.....we need action and not promises....mtchew
