My names are Paul Ofor Nwosu from FCT BRANCH Office of NSITF .This is to draw the attention of relevant bodies to what is going on in this particular branch of NSITF..
NSITF has been owing staff OPE for close to one year and they eventually decided to pay for some months .On Wednesday the 12th of August a verification exercise went round out office to sign for 4months for the money being owed, we gladly signed hoping the money will be paid same day. Only to hear that it would be paid next week..to cut the long story short our Almighty branch manager EDNA STOW decided to pay on the 14th August 2015 and she had in her usual manner removed 3k each from our money.
Imagine removing 3k from over 200 staff salary for her personal pocket after we go under the sun to work. she sits in her office and decides to reduce our money ,its not as if the office doesn’t pay her her own OPE but greed won’t let it satisfy her..calculate that money for the remaining 3months she would pay that’s about 600k per month and multiply by 4months you will know how much that is..so many people depend on this small money for survival and our almighty madam still 'eats' this money alone..
Can you imagine loosing a staff earlier in the year,we contributed money to give his poor widow and our branch manager cuts 50k from the money to keep for end of year party,who on earth does that to the dead for Christ?Who does that?
Please Madam Edna Stow Fct branch manager stop cutting our OPE ,this is not the first time you are doing it but this is the height of it.God Almighty will judge you for the other ones you have taken but this particular one you won’t eat it easily ..
Thank God for social media that can help our voices be heard. I may be transferred or sacked after this is published but at least it would be on record that someone cried out to expose your greed to the world.

B4 I say a word 2 EDNA permit me mr Paul 2 ask, was there an initial general agreement that she should b subtracting that sum from ur OPE? I've worked b4 n somewhere along we found out that there re some commission we re entitled to bt never heard of it. We took d mater 2 our immediate boss who in turn looked into it and confirmed true but also said d process won't b easy, we ended up begging him 2 pls do something n promised him 5k each from d cash every month. Although unlike ur madam he didn't bother about it after d 1st month cos it was already on record. So Oga Paul was that d case? Cos am wondering what right she has 2 deduct people's money.

In Abuja alone, there are four branch offices of NSITF in addition to the head office. The branches are in FCT, Mararaba, Kagini, and Gwagwalada with an average of 200 staff. Some of the staff allegedly sit on plastic chairs procured by themselves. Tell me how one branch manager can effectively manage over 200 staff in an atmosphere where there are alleged inadequate furniture and fittings?
The medical histories of the staff are not known. In the good old days when any of the agencies of government recruited, such workers were referred to government hospitals for their medical reports.
Between 2011 and 2014, well over N12 billion was alleged to have come to the agency from the Federal Government as the ECS contributions for their staff. This is different from the alleged take off grant the agency received from government. Meanwhile, the ECS contributions from government have no accompanying payment schedule for the purpose of ascertaining the identity of the staff. The executive management team is not in charge and so the team is watching from the sidelines. And it is not because there are no experienced staff members in the agency. The few ones remaining are alleged not to be anywhere near where their input would matter.
Now the same agency has been given additional mandate to provide unemployment benefit and benefit for the aged. The board as presently constituted is not technically sound to run this additional mandate. Modalities to determine the age bracket of the aged and employable unemployed are technical in nature and above the technical competence of the present board.
The NSITF board is allegedly the board of Trustfund pensions plc- a pfa established by NSITF with other social partners. In the wisdom of the founding fathers the board of Trustfund pensions plc was to be chaired by the MD of NSITF, to be supervised by the board of NSITF as appointed by government. But today it is no longer the case. With the alleged connivance of PenCom, the NSITF board is also the board of Trustfund pensions and of course every Nigerian knows that over N50 billion worth of pension assets is in the custody of Trustfund.
Finally, another point I wish to stress is the issue of the recruitment of collecting agents by the board. The collecting agents are paid commission for their collections. Now in the face of the unplanned massive recruitment of staff still going on, is there any need for such collecting agents? The monthly wage bill of NSITF is allegedly close to N1 billion. How does the agency meet the cost of industrial hazards? Each time some of the pressmen on alleged monthly “brown envelope” sing the praises of an individual who in their thinking brought NSITF to life, it’s funny. The same individual is alleged to be choking the NSITF to death. Nepotism, mismanagement, vindictiveness and lack of corporate governance remain the new face of NSITF. If Nigerians know how much was allegedly invested on computerisation they would marvel. Such expenses are secretly guarded. But one thing is very sure, the figure is not known to the Executive management team of the agency. The reign of impunity is killing NSITF. Yes, the Jonathan administration has signed ECA, 2010, but are the right people managing it? Let an independent auditor look into the books of NSITF, and we shall see how much that place stinks.

DeleteSo many things are happening in NSITF, many of us are being owned our arears since 2013, between 2013-2014 I was owned 4months arreas later they paid 2months and uptill now am yet to see anything,some of my friends are owned for 5months, 4months and all that. What about our allowances, this OPE issue have been on ground since last year july, when when they eventually decided to pay, the payed for just 4months. Now tell me how will you feel if after taking out money from your pocket to go for enforcement and at the end of the day someone cuts your money for his/her own benefit, how will you feel?

ReplyDeleteplease note that the ope has gone thu regional and been approved..we submited for example 30k and regional approves 15k which means which she brought for us to sign as it has been approved for payment..we signed for the collection of 15k using 15k as an example still,now when she decides to pay she bring another sheet of paper for 12k for us to sign again..what happned to the first sheet tht we signed 15k? and why is 3k deducted from everybodys money?pls note and u can also ask she does dis all the time and i quote her that we can go and report her that nothing will be done..
