Portharcourt, Warri Refineries Begin Crude Production Says NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has announced the successful re-streaming of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries after nine months of phased rehabilitation conducted by its in-house engineers and technicians.

The national oil company made the announcement on Wednesday through a statement.

It said the plants had commenced preliminary production of petroleum products after successful test-runs, noting that while the Port Harcourt Refining Company was ramping up capacity to about 60 per cent of the 210,000 barrels per day of crude capacity, production from the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company had been projected to hit 80 per cent of its installed capacity 125,000 bpd.

According to the NNPC, the Port Harcourt refinery will have a product yield of five million litres of petrol per day, while the Warri refinery will contribute 3.5 million litres of petrol to the local refining capacity.

Providing insight into the rehabilitation of the plants, the NNPC noted that it had to adopt the phased rehabilitation approach after the original builders of the refineries, who were initially contacted for the turnaround maintenance of the plants, came up with unfavourable terms.

“We also wish to call on all those engaged in the criminal acts of pipeline sabotage and oil theft to desist in order to avoid horrendous deaths as  witnessed in recent incidents.”

  10. I wonder where monkey Chidinma Grace read that? Refineries under GEJ's watch was non functioning, they were importing products and stealing Nigeria money to fuel GEJ's ogogoro and paraga habit and this illiterate is here talking through her ass as usual.

    1. If you had just said GMB made the refineries work in three months your ignorance would've been pardonable but cussing someone in the process of your ignorance display is not personable. We (this generation) has the internet at our disposal at ALL TIMES yet all we do is follow celebrities who can't write their shopping list correctly! Maintenance of a refinery is not the same as repair of generator! Use the internet wisely and you'll know that this maintenance started in 2013 the last time I checked Jonathan was the president as at that year and not Buhari. I know you'll probably not check but I'll still leav these links http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/why-fg-rescheduled-turnaround-maintenance-of-refineries/140644 http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/06/nigerias-refineries-to-resume-production-next-month-official/

  14. It is that sentiment that is killing them, now they are screaming that there is no igbo person in PMB's government and that he hates igbos's, these are the same people that out of hate they did not vote for PMB and now they want to be part of his government. I have never seen a bunch of shameless people like this before in my life. They have absolutely no shame. We are still waiting for them to pack their things and leave Nigeria for biafra, I really don't know what the hold up is, they should get out of Nigeria already, the dreamers.

  21. We should give it to GEJ because he built roads? is that what other presidents in other countries are being applauded for?, building roads?. Why must people comment stupidly on topics they know nothing about. You better educate yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Then Jonathan should have finished it because Nigeria has the money to complete projects in record time but Jonathan robbed Nigeria blind and used the money to buy private jets and ogogoro his favorite drink. Now he wants Nigerians to give him credit, you're having a laugh.

  23. Anyone that credits this to Buhari is really silly. Enlighten yourself please.... If you read this in Punch correctly(cuz Stella obviously edited and left out salient points) it tells you that the decision to rehabilitate was taken in 2011 but actual rehabilitation of the refineries began in October 2014. I guess Buhari was the president then according to your bias intellects? Please give honour to whom honour is due and stop fooling yourselves.

  24. Ismail Aminu.....oga that isn't beclouded... Mr President has been there for about 60days yet the economy is at a standstill. Please keep mute and read papers well instead waiting for Stella to bring one that you would insult others.
Bini man.....you are big disgrace to Nigeria and the Binis.... Please shut up and give cogent reasons not you ethnic bias and hateful comments. And yes I be ovbiedo kpataki.

  25. If gej started it why in 8 years was it not completed you dull and blind gej supporters who suffered like other Nigerians in 8years are so dull ...spits....if Gej did it trust me Diezani his right hand woman would have used it as campaign slogan. If you pep people know what happened in oil industry during Gej tenure you will hate him
