Prominent groups in the South east and South west of Nigeria have voiced their concerns over the appointments made by President Muhmammadu Buhari so far.
They describe it as being lopsided as it seems to favour the Northern parts of the country.
President Buhari has so far appointed 9 individuals into different positions since assuming office, 8 out of the 9 appointees are from the northern part of the country.
In the South west, the groups that have expressed their concerns so far are the Afenifere, Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF) and the Movement for Oodua Republic (MOR), while in the South east, the groups are Ohaneze Ndigbo, The Igbo World Union, Njiko Igbo Group and the Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC).
Speaking with Punch, they claim that this kind of lopsided appointments has never happened in the political history of the country.
What is your take on this as a Nigerian and as someone who is politically knowledgeable?
Please do not contribute to this post if your contributions will be tribalistic and one sided.
True

Kikikikikikiki
@Sai baba....carry go...carry slow
@Galore
The ministerial list and special advisers that will reflect geopolitical representation is not out, why the complaints.
DeleteEach of the appointments made so far is according to hierarchy in the organization.
Like NNPC had more than five northerners as directors, same with inec.
The Igbos that are so quick to judge, did you vote for APC? Wait for your geopolitical appointments.
Apart from his appointees. This is the first time the north is controlling all arms of government. The executive is headed by a northerner, the legislative, two northerners, judiciary a northerner as well.
DeleteYou did not see your own there. Na Igbo you see to jump on. And yes we did not vote for him so even if they don't get major appointments it will not pain them. They are just asking cos it's not supposed to be like this. At least they have their businesses making money for them. But you that sold your dignity and voted, what has it benefited you?So tey una don vex no de go meeting again.(tifnibu and his cohorts). Day just de break sef for una head. And to answer your question, I did not vote for anybody. Nonevof the two seemed the best candidate for the nation.

Yawns. Change has come. Kikikikikikwakwakwa
DeleteWhile it is too early to jump to conclusions since all the appointments have not been made, but appointing 8 out of 9 northerners in the early stage of PMB administration leaves room for stoking of ethnic division in the country. There are already concerns on PMB ethnic and religious leanings, he shouldnt take actions like this to aggravate it. The least he could do now is to ensure new set of appointments to be ethnically balanced.
ReplyDeleteI pity those who votedAPC.....serves u all right
ReplyDeleteY pity Apc voters, it's affect all of us, weda u voted Apc or not...buhari is not d president of Apc voters alone, he is our president
DeleteServes dem right indeed oh
DeleteNo mind dem @ Delphine as if na only those wey vote PDP e go affect. Anything he does na d whole Nigeria e go affect
DeleteIt's d plain truth.... Everyone can think or say otherwise......
ReplyDeleteI doubt he can be totally blamed for it considering he was nearly assassinated by yet to be identified persons in an attack that took the lives of two of his bodyguards.I know sooner or later federal character'll be observed on some level, all I care about's to see considerable n sustainable change for the better in the quality of lives of my fellow Nigerian people. #My2Cents
DeleteNumber one,for me,what matters most is not the tribe or religion of the people his appointee, but somebody that can help him in delivering Nigeria from the shackles the pdp has put us.
ReplyDeleteAnd lastly, during the regime of GEJ,the Yorubas too were marginalised, none of Jonathan chiefs of staff was a yoruba man,so kini big deal?Nigeruans shud focus on more pressing things like constant electricity supply, gud roads, qualitative and affordable education, job opportunities among others, not trivial or tribal things, abeg!
Shut up! U are Jon snow

DeleteI hope u will have dis same stance when it's time for recruitment an d they base it strictly in merit...I pity u
DeleteIf your name were Peter john I would have accepted your opinion. Show me ONE neutral Muslim about politics, and I will swallow my words.
DeleteBrother shut up! Jonathan appointed a lot of westerners and northerners. In his 6yrs of service he had more than 2 northern chief of defence, he had west and Northern SA's and PA's, so what u talking about? Name one easterner buhari has appointed, and who told u only northerners can perform? This has always been my biggest fear about buhari, the man has never hidden the fact that he's tribalistic. This is just d beginning.
DeleteNneka? Shut up ke? Let's be civil! It's a free discussion on an open minded blog
DeleteOn one hand it might seem he is favouring the northern side of our country, but on the other - he has to have and build a team he can manage a team that isn't from any political group or association. The South East and West will put up someone that favours their person interest forgetting this is a Nation Building Process. I personally feel Nigerians should let this new government settle in, see how this appointees do and if they are the same "Old Business as Usual Team", we have a voice to fight it.
ReplyDeleteYou are as good if not better than the people you deligate to. We saw how that impacted on the previous government.
FYI: I am non Partisan, Nigeria and Nigerians need to let go of the "me me me" attitude, let's set a path for our future. We are so Blessed , it's sad how and where we are in sphere of things.
Thank u dear,intelligent babe...
DeleteShebi na dem vote for am ni? They ve not seen nothing yet. Buhari will not listen to dem mark my word. Does it look like he cares huh? It's quite a pity. Smh
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that Buhari is not and will not be the one running this govt. He has an inner caucus made up of core northern muslim elites who he listens to. Most of these people have been with him since 2003 when he contested for the presidential office the first time. Even though Tinubu and the rest of the western politicians are clearly disgruntled, they must understand that not only is Buhari a tribalistic individual, his hands are tied as he must appease all parties concerned.
DeleteAlso, the APC know that they successfully displaced Jona by using the northerners he appointed to certain key political offices like INEC, hence every reasonable Nigerian need not be told that by appointing northern muslims only, Buhari is simply protecting his interests and ensuring he returns in 2019 whether Nigerians like it or not.
Sometimes, I get angry at Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for not being desperate enough to hold on to power, but then, he would have had to soil his hands, and at the end of the day, he would give account of his deeds to God. He still has a conscience which is why he conceded defeat to avert bloodshed. I really love Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. I really do.
Yes o,i actually thot I was d only one who noticed it,out of d 9 appointments only one person is frm d south,Thts so not good, and see d position he gv the southerner(town crier)#rme# @ least Jona was fair
ReplyDeleteThe Abokis are taking over.. Buhari belongs to somebody Afterall...Nigeria!!!!we never learn our lesson. This is not change, but a repetition of history. Buhari will finish that which he couldn't finish as Head of state.. while we slumber & bcom enemies to one another, the north is uniting & taking it all. It's time for a revolution. I keep saying that as long as we keep helping these recycled politicians come back to power, the desired change will faaarrr from us. I'm waiting to see how he'll deal Wt d pressure of gay rights from Obama & d other world leaders..Na sidon look I Dey. None of these recycled politicians is worthy to be our saviour.. but Nigerians don't learn... I laugh..
ReplyDelete@Anon 12:26, pray tell, who were to vote for? Jonathan?
DeleteLet me ask a quick question, you went for an operation, the doctor that operated on you botched you up.Due to this you had to revisit the hospital. The same doctor is still trying to convince you to allow him operate on you again, will you allow it or you will go to another doctor that has a better antecedent. It was between Buhari and Jonathan and I will ever regret voting for Buhari the way I regreted voting for Jonathan. Nigeria is already getting better. The best is yet to come. Haters should go bury themselves.

ReplyDeleteNigerians should put tribal sentiments aside we've suffered enough for that already. If these people he has appointed are the ones he can trust and feel he can work with without any lacklustre in his administration, he is on the right path.
ReplyDeleteTrust fire. Dey there make pants dey wear you. So in the whole south and east, there's no single competent Nigerian to be in his cabinet. Southerners selling their birth rights for porridge since before Azikiwe was born
DeleteNa today? Shebi Jona neglected his own people and was taking care of the northerners yet they stabbed him in the back? Stella, what do u expect nau. He's a northerner. Let them stay there and be wailing. It's gonna get worse. Jaymoore, plz come with ur 'excuse' for 'ur messiah'

ReplyDeleteIt's true. Look at the appointment of the SSS man. Bringing a man from your own place out of retirement, while there are serving officers and other young persons in this country that van implement this age of technology into security. He thinks we're still in the age of bows and arrows. The inec lady nko. The matter tire person.
ReplyDeleteServing officers that Jonathan regime has corrupted and can't work without requesting for bribes. 85% of civil servants in Nigeria engaged in bribery and corruption so if bringing someone he knows better with integrity is the best then be it. Just watch in the coming months that people in various agencies will be forced to resign when they can't cope with just their salary, Buhari is silently blocking loopholes where people loot money from that's why you guys think he is a go slow man and by the time he is done you will see the ministerial list and people will be scared of accepting roles coz of fear of not looting money, currently APC members hoping for appointment are even scared except the ones with good intentions.
DeleteWell said Gabby. Very well said.

ReplyDeleteLet me read comments!
ReplyDeleteToo much of Buhari, APC, PDP, Nigeria abeg I Don taya joor
ReplyDeleteWhat is good for The goose is also good for the gander...#secludedgovt
ReplyDeleteMy take? We warned you it would happen. That is who Buhari is- only comfortable in his own terrain. He believes strongly in the Northern domination. why do you think he fought so visciously threatening that blood will flow when he contested the first and second times? Why do you think it was a do or die affair for him? Buhari cannot stand being ruled by those of us from other parts of Nigeria referred to as "infidels". Those of us who were adults when he ruled at first knew what we experienced at the time. The guy is still the same. A leopard can never change its spots. So why are you crying now?
ReplyDeleteThank you sir /ma. Don't mind this people saying we should allow him rule, change is here blablabla.. ..I wish they can see the mind of an ordinary Muslim, it is a SIN for a Christian to rule/dominate them. Buhari is a fanatical Muslim and bigoted Hausa man. Una never see. Shebi it's change you all wanted. Let the likes of jaymoore, sisi eko et al come and masturbate under me, you will all lick your vomit soon. I rest my case
DeleteFor God sake let them allow this man to work.Tinubu and his media war !!!Once they fall our with you there and then the war begins!!!the same Ibo people they detest are the ones to be used as usual.gullible people.
ReplyDeleteGood for the APC south East...mscheew!
ReplyDeleteBubu has not started sef!
This is just the beginning.
Complain? As if they didn't know the kind of person he he was, if u sowed your vote to him, you are only reaping the effect. Complain Not all ye APC
ReplyDeleteAll I will say is good for the yorubas who voted him In, you see I saw a bc one time from one Kayode salako , foluke daramola, s husband when it was time for the presidential election, he sounded too tribalistic, urged the yorubas to vote for Buhari, his reason was cos Jonathan didn't appoint most yorubas, didn't give them nice positions, now this is happening.
ReplyDeleteYes good for we Yoruba, worse for you.
DeleteI will vote Buhari again over Jonathan. I voted for Jonathan then over Buhari but he disappointed so Buhari was a no brainer. On both occasions I voted for people who are not from my tribe so do not open your gutter mouth to talk about being tribalism because that is the only word you Jonathan supporters know.
Yes good for we Yoruba, worse for you.
DeleteI will vote Buhari again over Jonathan. I voted for Jonathan then over Buhari but he disappointed so Buhari was a no brainer. You didn't have a third option. So quit crying. Not like any of yours will reach that position. Osetigo. That's why by fire by force Saraki wants to get there which he has succeeded and that's why Buhari is covering every major loophole with his people. Why? Because you guys can't be trusted.
DeleteMedicine after death. Why didn't Nigerians read the hand writing on the wall. They should have known the type of person that Buhari is before the election.
ReplyDeleteIn 2011, Buhari called on muslims to vote only for muslims. Only that is enough to provide to unsuspecting Nigerians that he is religiously and ethnically biased. .
Is it not obvious. Change is here.....
ReplyDeleteBuhari is a tribalist even before now n yet some novice convinced d public he's not.
ReplyDeleteAPC is primarily a Northern/South Western/Islamic party. Nigeria being what it is I will expect appointments to reflect the above description. Any SE or SS appointments will be token. I will expect more SS than SE appointments though, due to the crude oil factor and general anti Igbo feeling.
ReplyDeleteLet him finish the making all the appointments, then we can take stock.
I am Igbo by the way.
"I am Igbo by the way"....... Nigerians must everything always be about tribe. You have just put me off with this your comment and also put your tribe in a bad light.
DeleteAnd how re u so sure he is igbo? Or he was set to achieve an aim which he got by ur comment which is to put " igbos in a bad light?" pple!
DeleteAnon 14.27, if my being Igbo or mentioning the fact that I'm Igbo has put you off, then you clearly have a problem.
DeleteAbout "putting my tribe in a bad light", again that is your problem because I stated clear facts there.
And yes, everything in Nigeria is about tribe, if not the whole Nigeria will not have been accusing Igbos of "political naivety" by supporting PDP in the last elections. I don't hear anybody accusing the people of Newcastle in UK of being politically naive because they voted labour en masse but labour last woefully in the last elections? It never even comes up in casual conversation.
The Nigerian elections last march was ALL ABOUT TRIBE. It wasn't by accident that APC selected a Northerner for president and Yoruba man for VP. Do you think APC would have won if they selected a Tiv man as president and Ishan for vice?
Let me start by stating that I am from the south east. I am of the opinion that we should stop all this Igbo this, Yoruba that and Hausa... this is because I believe that if an hausa man will deliver why not give the job to him or her. What irks me atimes is the fact that most of the people who play the victim card when it comes to politics are usually the most guilty.
ReplyDeleteFor example, at some point in our national life the south south alleged that they were marginalized; the region eventually had their turn at top and what did they do? Until we learn to deal with the "individual" in this country we will not move forward. We ought to ask ourselves what we have gained as a country from zoning of political offices along tribal and ethnic lines.
I submit that I dont bloody care who Buhari appoints I just want whoever, to do their jobs well.
Stella I did like to read about something like "at what point does favouritism become corruption" or our take on "favouritism and corruption as it concerns our national life". I believe it will make an interesting read.
Succinctly put.

ReplyDeleteFrom aboki to aboki
Well our problem as a nation is tribe and religion. There's no way any leader will rule a complicated country like Nigeria without other tribes or regions being upset or claiming government being against their interest.
ReplyDeleteI think it's not yet time to judge PMB base on those appointments as they are not the main appointment Nigerians look up to but notwithstanding his direction toward appointing people is not a good one is already looking like a northern affair such attempt will surely ruin his government but I can't judge him now as he is yet to appoint people in key positions.
I don't want to see him as someone representing the northern states alone but Nigeria in general as appointing his people into key positions will be very disappointing to Nigerians who campaigned/supported him. As our former leaders did same by electing more of their people, he should bring Nigerians together by doing the opposite.
This your comment is one kain. Am sensing hesitation? Where's the fire you used in campaigning for Mallam. Kwakwakwa kikiki. #looking for eka joy and giving her hi 5 and farting on sisi eko 'so face # Stella no go post sha cos I no see my first comment.
DeleteYou don know she doesn't post any replies to jaymoore since that issue.she dey delete my comments since. That time
DeleteAnonymous no worries PMB government will surely do better than all past PDP government. I don't care about president tribe/ religion as far as we have someone who will change Nigeria situation am very fine with it. By the way I LOVE BUHARI same way most of you loved your Jonathan. Now is the time to drop your hatred and be positive for the good of our great nation but am sure some of you are born to be BITTER so even when you see change you can never accept there's.
DeleteBy the way I don't think we igbo's should complain about PMB as a tribe unless individuals who supported him because most of you voted/supported PDP on top casted PMB as evil man some even said he want to islamise Nigeria with all our propaganda against same man he won and now we are still crying. We shot ourselves on the foot by supporting PDP alone no need crying rather let's channel our energy into working with the new government so that after PMB presidency an igbo person can take over but we can not smell presidency unless we work with him and other tribes so let us drop the anger and hatred.
Naija go BETTER.
Anon 15:38 Kikikikikikikikiki
DeleteJay Moore, r u saying we igbos don't av the right to vote for who we want to vote for? We shot ourselves on the leg? Really? If he refused to appoint any person from the SS and SE coz of the result of the election, then he's tribalistic!!! Simple as A,B,C
DeleteAnonymous 15:38 abeg go and sit down. For ur mind now ur are on a rebound abi? Nonsense. Make sure that fart of urs isn't accompanied by diarrhea poo!!
DeleteYes I agree that whoever would do the job right should be appointed. I have never denied my support for PMB...neither has my trust in him staggered. And I'm not HAUSA! But It however doesn't stop me from raising pertinent concerns if need be.
I care less whatever tribe dominates the arena, for as long as the desired CHANGE is felt by all and sundry its fine by some of us. I wonder where tribalism has ever taken some of u, or whether it increases ur bank account balance. Pessimists are on the rampage waiting to castigate this man whether he does it right or not.. forgetting that if u join the bandwagon to spread propaganda in a bid to destabilize this administration, simply because ur desired candidate lost the election, it is YOU and I that'll suffer it. So continue.
The Buhari you are all bitter about is over 70 and isn't so interested in acquiring much for himself in life again, he's at the last lap of his life achievements as a human being. Moreso, a commendable life, so far, has he lived.
Therefore It is those of us who are still young, trying to build our business and family that should be worried about our future in Nigeria. So rather than be a vice of destruction, thru which the efforts of those who are trying to savage what is left of this country will be pulled down...(by the use of ur incessant out-pour of social media sabotage).. I would rather expend my energy positively, lend my support to the power that be, so to achieve what is desirable and obtainable for all. Especially for the sake of the future of my children. So u see, u and I have disparities in our mission.
So continue to luxuriate in the euphoria of ur negativity and PMD syndrome.. keep farting ur destiny away. .... as for ME, I jump una pass!!
Sisi-Eko well said as usual.
DeleteAllow the kids to continue with their pain and bitter comments most of them can't make sensible comment without abusing others who do, some even acting like meat sellers and crayfish sellers daily here is very sad. They have all driven away the intelligent people that comment here with abuses/curses. They don't read comments and argue politely when they disagree with the person rather they show off their inner anger by cursing out "shut up,foolish man, idiot" SAD.
The change we need in Nigeria today is mostly for them as for some of us,we have plan B in life if Nigeria get worst like Somalia either you pray for a man who want to improve your condition or continue to harbour Muslim/Christian hatred or tribal hatred. I am a Nigerian first before any tribe and my loyalty lies with Nigeria first before tribe because i do not have any tribal passport rather Nigeria. Happy Sunday to you all make sure you ask God to cast away spirit of hatred and bitterness tormenting most of you.
This is just the beginning. But honestly what does it matter if they are all northerners as long as they are able to get the work done. What we need now is results, anyone who can deliver. The tribe doesn't matter. Also I think we should wait till he makes the rest of his appointments before we can conclude.
ReplyDeleteI can understand the Ibo's but Yoruba's no, you were shouting change, you actually signed in to be a slave. Hausa's can never recognise you no matter what you do for them. They're heartless in nature, that's what you can't change about them. If not for them, Jonathan's regime would 've been a lot better, they made sure he was perceived incapable with their numerous sabotage. Buhari has asked the terrorists group not to stop so soon to avoid implicating him, so he won't ve to answer "why they stopped immediately he was sworn in". Buhari, with all these blood crying on your head, you can only hide from humans but you can't hide from God. The word of God cannot be twisted, psalm 14 "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
ReplyDeleteBuhari you have power now, tell Boko Haram to stop wasting innocent blood.
A hand soiled in innocent blood cannot lead a country to the land of Canan.
Deep
DeleteNow he wants to use the guise of 'negotiating' with them. All he'll do is command them to stop. Amnesty deals will be their pay off
DeleteAnd if he's not behind the terrorism, can u also ask God to judge u for casting such a sensitive aspersion? Na question I ask o!
DeleteIf they can get the job done why complain? Where they are from Is not the ish, let them do their job.
ReplyDeleteOlori follow me ask o
DeleteNortherners dAt wil get d job done.and very well to.
Or Southerners dAt wil embezzle d money?
Ha!
It's good if you're thinking that way. But is he thinking that way? About them delivering?
DeleteThis is the mistake the south makes.
We think of merit.
And this is why many dumped their own brother and voted GMB
Same reason GEJ developed the north, gave them posts.
We think rationally.
We analyse.
But the north sadly don't care about all that. Buhari diddnt need to preach too much to his people. Just 1 imam declaring in a mosque that a Muslim faithful wants to defeat that 'infidel' on the seat, they say 'inshallah' over it and it's done. Just hearing his hausa name alone will bring votes. This is why Buhari will appoint those he wants from the north without caring for opinion. He has good backing from his people. The elections show it and whether he acts or not, isn't their problem. It's still their man, inshallah. So, keep doing merit. E hear?
Till the political powers are vested in north again like the days of Sanni Abacha.
If he can't trust any body but these his people as u claim, he should divide the country and rule as 'king in the north'.
Olori help me ask them o!!!!
DeleteKikikikikiki hahahahahahhahahaha he he he he he he he he.

DeleteWe need to tarry awhile before we make do a final assessment. To those who are only interested in the final deliverables of government, we should réalisé that Nigeria is a peculiar country, I use country not state because of our diversity and history. For us to move forward we have to take these into cognisance, PMB should build a very broad based government to reflect our diversity to be able to succeed as a government. I believe that "he has to get his politics right to be able to push his policies ". My major fear is that I don't think he understands the magnitude of the economic challenge we face as a nation. This I say because of his inaction yet, when FG bonds has hit the ceiling almost 6. something trillion and we are spending excess of 3 billion dollars to stabilise the Naira. To compound these he appoints failed politicians to audit NNPC, whatever happened to all out accounting young minds. PMB must succeed or our citizens will suffer the worst economic downturn in our history
ReplyDeleteI like your submission. Your analytical mind is second to none.
DeleteBuhari quite understands that we are in the gloomy era financially. Hence the move for a global resuscitation... and plan to invest in our abandoned refineries. Which they insist must be up and running to cut costs of exporting crude to be refined.
I also heard the latest is that our foreign buyers of oil are no longer buying as much because they've found it cheaper elsewhere.. hence the shortchange. Which brought about the discussion to initiate another means of generating internal resources. Some have suggested a huge taxing of the "wealthy citizens" to generate more funds.. I say, that isn't sufficient.
Let them return to farming and ban the importation of those things that we can produce in Nigeria. Find foreign investors, but sideline and discourage the importation of rice and the likes. If all these are considered, in no time our economy will boom and we'll be better for it.
That way oil will not be the only source of revenue. And all the state governors should also be charged to discover what their respective state is rich in, and can generate money for them as well. So that their sole reliance on the federal government for funds will be reduced. It'll take time but it's achievable.
Why are they acting like they didn't see this coming?
ReplyDeleteBuhari is just being true to himself jor.
"CHANGE" is here to stay at least for the next 4 years so people should better get used to it.
@Rose Flower Better pray for the good of Nigeria and stop being sacarstic. The gutter you are cleaning in a white man's country will not save you if Nigeria does not make it.
DeleteMake we allow this man drink water put glass down na. Honestly, I couldn't care less who he appoints and where he or she is from as long as the dividends of democracy are delivered. Even if he likes, let him appoint a goat, as long as the goat delivers what Nigerians need, I am for it. If they do not deliver, we vote them out, kapish. Thank God they now realise that people's votes will always count.
