After spending 72 hours with his two sons in Kano Central Prison, former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has attributed political motives to his incarceration.
The former governor's many supporters relocated to the Kano Central Prison where they kept vigil over him and his two sons to show solidarity.
While shedding tears, Lamido said he was determined to prove to Nigerians that he was innocent but was merely being witch-hunted by those who feel threatened by his rising political profile.
According to the former governor, he is being persecuted by those who feel that they would not be able to actualise their presidential ambition with him around the political arena.
According to Vanguard reportage, Lamido and sons are likely to be admitted to bail tomorrow (Monday) as a vacation judge is most likely to hear their bail application on that day.
It will be recalled that the trial judge, Justice Evelyn Anyadike, had earlier adjourned the case till September 28 while ordering that the suspects be remanded in Kano Prison after Lamido and his sons were slammed with a 28-count charge for laundering N1.35 billion.
Anyadike, however, ruled that the case will be handed over to a vacation judge to listen to the accused persons bail application while the judiciary goes on vacation today.
Lamido’s associates are already prepared in many ways to meet whatever conditions the vacation judge might stipulate for their release from prison pending the hearing of the case in September.

If dt vacation judge knows what's best for d people,he shldnt grant them bail, they should @least spend a week in jail. This should serve as a deterrent to all those corrupt politicians,if only they'd listen

ReplyDeleteAhahahah this pic got me cracked up. Ndo Lamido...enjoy ur summer vacation. See his face
Putting him in prison is just another initial gragra from EFCC.... Before u know it he is out and balling again. Ndi nzuzu.
ReplyDeleteStella, he has not fallen into the pit yet.
ReplyDeleteHave you forgotten about the Ibori case?
He still have billions of naira at his disposal.
And with such money you can almost buy justice in the country.
Abegiii!...Stella which mosquitoes re you talking about??....him own prison get A.C jareh
ReplyDeleteCrying kee? When they steal they are happy when in trouble they claim enemies/political associates. If he is crying out now what will befall mothers who lost their kids to sickness due to lack of medical treatment or good health care system because one man and his son's stole money meant for good health care system. What will happen to fathers/mothers who lost their lives waiting for their pension/gratuity from the state to be paid meanwhile one family was enjoying fund meant for the old?
ReplyDeleteI can remember OBJ clamouring for same Sule Lamido to become president after he stepped down as president, the man for sell naija off with his families. He's not yet sentenced but already crying same prison he put petty criminals while he stole billions as chief executive of his state.
People like him deserve that place with their families because we as citizens have suffered enough. I hope Ohakim and others are truly prosecuted and sentenced. If we want sanity in our land, PMB government need to punish those who stolen from us without fear.
Stole*
DeleteSeconded. PMB needs to prosecute all these legislooters without fear to send home the message: its a new era of real public service and tangible developments for Naijas.
DeleteStella, leave that thing.these types are given VIP treatment even in jail.

DeleteIf u can't do d time don't do d crime.... I guess u forgot that saying.
ReplyDeleteHe should be granted bail just like his other colleagues facing similar charges had. I can't fathom the reasons behind bail refusal. After all these rigmaroling, he would still go scot free. That's naija for you
ReplyDeleteRising political wetin? Did he even deliver his state in d last election? He should rot in jail.
ReplyDeleteObasanjo once went through this trial but he came out to become president. Who knows if this is history repeating itself?
ReplyDeleteThe rich also cry.
ReplyDeleteStella what are you saying you feel pity for him? I am disappointed with that statement. Do you know how many innocent people are in jail for what they know nothing about? so because he is a politician we should feel pity for him? what about the people he governed that he stole from? what about the poor Nigerian that mosquitoes has been they companion since they were born?
ReplyDeleteAbeg make em dey there till September 28 then do a life time jail for corruption no be only common man dey face jail term.
Nigerians can be very silly ( didn't want to say stupid). Showing solidarity to a man who was allegedly stealing from your generations unborn while handing down stipends to you.
ReplyDeleteOga Lamido enjoy your time.
ReplyDeleteHe should be there for at least 6 months.
ReplyDeletePoliticians keep thinking they are special people.
Hahahahahaha
DeleteRosie u no dey smile at all.
Chai,Buh him behind dat bar is making me feel somehow.
Buh i wil get over it joor.
Rising political ambition indeed! U never seen nothing yet.
ReplyDeleteFunny man. So he is dreaming of becoming president. Smh for him
ReplyDeleteToo bad
ReplyDeleteTake heart Sir...
ReplyDeleteYou shall be out 'in the fullness of time'
Pele...
Somebody enjoying himself in a well furnished room!He is a VIP in prison.
ReplyDeletePeople should do their research well before they talk. Before lamido became Gov jigawa was a dead town, but you need to go there now and see how much he developed that town. Built international schools, Roads, health care and actually a university. Sule Lamido did not launder moni, even if he did, he really worked. This is pure witch hunting and everyone knows this.
ReplyDeleteAnybody saying Sule LAmido laundered money must be blind. This is purely political. Who knows Jigawa State b4 hecame into power, it was a ghost town but not anymore, u need 2 go 2 Dutse and see 4 urselfs d transformation he did there. Time will tell sha.
ReplyDeleteThis is pure victimisation as a result of the part he played during the election. At times, some people need to come to the North and see how they're utilising their funds forget about what people say esp the media. If Bubu must fight corruption, he should remember that El-rufai, Amaechi, Fashola, Silva, etc are not clean o.
ReplyDeleteThis is an indictment against all organizations that give awards (including VANGUARD NEWSPAPER) to all sorts of characters without proper research & background checks on the beneficiaries. The big question is how much did SULE LAMIDO pay to VANGUARD NEWSPAPER to merit the award he was given some months ago at EKO HOTELS?
