Incessant Traffic Robbery In Lagos.

Picture this......

''Hello Stella,
I was robbed last night on the road that link 7up to Ojota /Ikorodu road. There was traffic on the road when suddenly 5 boys came to my car and told me to wind down my glass when I refused to yield they hit my window with an object and down it went, they also broke the passenger side window.

They collected my phones, wristwatch and Jewelry and it was in the full glare of other motorists but no one could do anything to help, one of them even used a knife to jab my arm 7times.
I was not the only one robbed as they went from car to car.

Will we ever be safe in this country? Government should please look into this issue of traffic robbery, They are becoming very daring''.

Thank God you were not hurt.

  1. Ah this trend is becoming an everyday thing, thank God you weren't hurt but please next time don't argue with them o. It happens so often in traffic and they move from car to car.

    1. I have said it. Everyone should carry pepper spray in their bags. Esp the ladies. I can't shout. It may not do a lot but it would certainly destabilize an intruder when they poke their face into ur car to attack u. Always have it close by like a gun. Once u decide to roll down a bit if u can't maneuver out of danger, politely spray the bastards face and he'll freak out. It'll blind him for more than 30 mins, and in that time help would have come, or the gridlock would have eased enough for u to drive to safety.
I carry mine for not only because of thieves, but those rude dirty boys that forcefully wipe your windshield. The ones that leave dirty water on ur screen becos u refused to give them money...na becos of them I dey carry whip and all sorts. I'll come down and spray or beat the MF!

One of the reasons I can't live in Lagos.

Untop of the fact, that half of one's life is spent in traffic, these urchins aggravate for whole thing.

The government should please look into this, before it escalates into something worse.

    1. Some of them are petty thieves. Like those teenagers that clean your car in the day and pick pockets at night. But the real armed robbers I think are the ones people complain about in some areas like Festac, mile 2, Orile etc. The ones at CMS towards the island are those bar beach street urchins. On the third mainland I noticed that at every yard there are stationed police officers on the bridge. I guess to control those who steal from people during the rush hours.

  15. This is the stock in trade now.

That's how they robbed my friend in traffic along oshodi-apapa expressway.

    Same pattern.

Asked her to roll down her window, she refused, they broke it down and pointed a gun at her. robbed her totally. The guy(robber) told her she iS lucky she is a fine girl otherwise he would have wasted her for not complying to take her glass down quietly.

And to think there were other motorists. They robbed car to car ccording to her cos it was standstill traffic.
And then I ask, where the hell was the Nigerian police/RRS/Quick Response squad.

    Sad.

Thank God for you poster. The stuff stolen is replaceable. Your life isn't. Thank God.

    1. Hmmm I pray I never experience this. But I once saw people abandon their car in traffic and took to their heels...everyone left their cars open with the ignition on.. when I asked what happened they said someone in a car far in front was being robbed. So the car after the one being robbed left his car, and of cos everyone else followed. It was not funny o. I didn't see the incident tho, but the ripple effect of the panic was confusing and scary.

  23. So sorry dear. They are allover that Ojota axis. And roaming seriously and fully armed.
Got blocked two weeks ago close to DN Meyer on Oregun, luckily for me they just opened their gate for a truck to depart but the papers were still being checked, I pressed d horn on full blare n reversed into DN Meyer, ran without shoes and wit my hangbag into d loading bar,it was scanty, I hid beside a sack, d security at d gatepost also ran after me leaving d gate wide open still, they just stood infront of d gate wit full lights on and after few minutes before they fired a shot and sped off. I was breathing from every part of my body. Jeezzzz.
Was it d cash I withdrew from d Zenith branch at COMMAND road or d car that they wanted?
    Tufiakwa.

Had to wait for DH till 8pm before I was taken home. It took heavy massage n some prayers before I stopped shaking for some days, I kept seeing their faces n hearing that single shot.

    2. It took me a very long time to get over the robbers experience i encountered

I went to collect my call up later. Traveled by air, didn't know the exact day I'll be thru so I didn't board a return ticket. After the whole thing, had to leave that day, went to airport and there was no flight back to Lagos at that hour and there was not going to be the next day. Typical of jos. So I went by road only for armed men to come out of the Bush. Collected the car from the driver and drove us inside the Bush. Even if we screamed from that hour till morning, no one would hear us..

They took their time, ransacked every bag and baggage. The girl sitting next to me told me to hide my phone some where they won't see it and I did. She said my phone was too expensive and new to dash them. So she gave me one of her phone that was less expensive and asked me to put my Sim inside so that when they ask me of my phone I have them that one or else they might shoot me

When it was time to collect my phone, they were like fine girl like you using this phone. You must think we are stupid. They searched me, the other one wanted to use style and fondle with my beast because he's searching me and their I gasses him to take his hands off me as that's not what they came here for

Lord, the sign of relieve, because I was trying to figure out what I'll do if he raped me there as that was what he was trying to do. Immediately their boss asked me to enter the bus so that his boys wondering eyes won't be on me. They searched everyone, took everything and then left. Asked us not to move until after one hour. You won't believe we were there until after an hour. Then we left.

It took me a long time to stop panicking or having anxiety attacks. This happened like 3yrs ago.

      I'm thankful now tho
Lord may I never see this evil men again in my life, that was the first and that is going to be the last I'm Jesus name

  26. As long as big thieves like Alison Madueke are allowed to loot and go free while we all say, "She's sick, leave her alone".

As long as we don't want Jonathan and his cohorts probed and then jailed if found guilty.

As long as successive government officials know they won't be probed, only "questioned" by the EFCC and released or granted bail and the case never sees the light again, we will continue to live like this.

Most of these robbers are educated youths whose (present and) future has been looted by government officials, people are hungry and angry and it is just sad what the country has been turned into.

A country where something as basic as food is a daily struggle for people, where a Master's degree holders are forced to become a drivers just to get sustainance, where artisans can't even work for lack of electicity, where a mother helplessly watches her child die because she can't afford #1,000 for medication, where the hospitals are a mess, where salaries are owed..........

Yet, some misguided, jobless, brainless youths will get all sentimental and call a crook their hero......SMH.

    So sad.....

    Just sad.

  42. Thank God it wasn't more than that. The worst is that people look on and nobody makes an effort.
Let me give you a trick. What I do is I move about with 2 hand bags. I have a very cheap phone which is the one I use when in traffic and I keep every valuable including jewellery out of sight. So whenever I'm apprehended I don't even argue. I gladly bring my fake hand bag stuffed with any unwanted items I find in my house including old kid's toys and hand over. If you want phone my cheap phone I happily hand over.
One blocked me at oshodi when he even saw the phone he moved away because I had the earpiece on.
These people are becoming daring not minding the time of the day. It could be in broad afternoon. Please Lagosians be safety conscious the times are changing. I also keep a phone in my underwear when I'm driving at night in case of a car hijack I won't be stranded.
Someone was robbed at apongbon bridge. The glass of her Prado was shattered at about 5pm in the evening. She spotted a police van parked in front and drove to report and police told her to keep her valuables out of sight. They didn't even move an inch.
Another tip for ladies when in traffic avoid driving at the edge of the road always stay in the middle lane. Most attacks that have happened are either at the road median that concrete that divides the road or at the edge close to pedestrian walkway.
Sorry for my long sermon. When you drive in this city at all hours you need some survival techniques after all eneke the bird says "since hunters have learnt to shoot without missing, I have learnt to fly without perching".

  47. What exactly is the new Governor of Lagos state doing and what exactly is our new President doing?

Someone asked a very important question yesterday. Why did President Buhari travel with those Governors to U.S.A? He even traveled with Mr. Oshimole and the wife?

What was the role of Oshimole's wife in that journey?.

Something bugs me, it may be true or untrue but i have to ask though; Is Lara or Lala truly Oshiomole's wife?
Could Lala be President Buhari's new wife?
Is Governor Oshimole a front used to marry Lala for President Buhari?. Maybe i am kidding, maybe not.

100 days in office is fast approaching and these Government is just interested in throwing mud at their opponent and going on newspapers to rant. Can't APC understand that they have won, the mudslinging should be over. If you feel someone embezzled money or is corrupt, then take the person to court with your evidence. The pages of newspaper is not a courtroom for crying out loud.

Or wait a minute,is this like a distraction? Pointing fingers at someone to avoid fingers being pointed at you. When we focus on the corruption of the past Government, we forget that a new government is in place and there are basic infrastructures still lacking which the new Government should focus on. Nigeria still has poor electricity supply, bad road network, poor salary scale, unemployment and lack of security amongst others.

Can the Presidency focus on that? Can the Presidency appoint new ministers because operating without a Minister will make the government not to be accountable to the masses. We need to know how funds are spent? We need to know how much the Presidency spent on their "perambulation" to U.S.A.

    XOXO MYSTERY

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Xoxo mystery let me answer some of your questions.
Our current president is trying to put things in place as he said before he start appointing new ministers and people to take charge. His delay in doing so till now is due to the fact that PDP former government accused him of running a parallel government after election when he tried putting things in place. If PMB was given free hand after election we won't be facing much delays now.
On other question on why he travelled with governors? my dear you are aware during former president reign he always travelled for such meetings with more than 100 people including governors/ministers/ girlfriends and concubines thereby wasting tax payers money but new government just selected few governors without his wife as a president, give him some kudos. Do you know how much he served tax payers doing so unlike in the past?so let's be honest when we criticise.
Yes things are slow but it's better to be slow doing things rightly than be hasty thereby doing things wrongly.
For Oshomole, he is still in honeymoon so is allowed. If na me get fresh meat like him at an old age I won't leave her behind for little boys in-short i will even go to toilet with her *tongueout*. Meanwhile our PMB don't need a new wife he is contented with first lady.
Lastly, he is throwing out news Nigerians should expect incase he start arresting people who embezzled our money citizens wont be surprise. He also want to get ride of bad judges soon incase some looters start frustrating the court system through their usual delay tactics.
Be patient dear you have a better and responsible government now than ever and we all will be proud as Nigerians soon.
PMB is not coming to enrich himself that's what most of you should understand, he is old man and ok with his life, he is simply here to make name for himself and create history as former Nigeria elected president who changed Nigeria.

  56. hummmm.. i see this guyz every night on my way to work.. i so recognize them now because they (numbering about 10) patrol inside traffic like the wolewole (sanitation inspector). they go has far has using the small nokia phone's tourch light to peep into your car. i have experienced at least over 8 events physically. 2 of them at ANTHONY B/STOP GBAGADA and others at DOPEMU UNDERBRIDGE.

Two days ago, one of them directed his tourch light into my car and my driver shouted, oleeeee, Bastard lazy thief, i would shoot you now.. they all ran away but still surfaced the next day. two weeks ago, i was also driving myself home and forgot to windup my side window, one of them just tapped my shoulder on getting to Dopemu under bridge and said "Madam why did you splash water at me"while the second stationed at the right window shined his phone torchligght to search any valuable at sight. i immediaitely pressed my window button and at that moment, they both flee.

THE RULES IN TRAFFIC IS THIS
    1. BE VIGILANT
    2. KEEP ALL VALUABLES OUT OF SIGHT
    3. TRY TO AVOID UNNECESSARY CALLS EXCEPT VERY IMPORTANT ONES
    4. KEEP YOUR BAG AND VALUABLES IN YOUR BOOT BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR HOME/OFFICE
    5. MINIMIZE TRAFFIC PURCHASES (BUYING GALA, LACASERA, FAN YOGHURT, ETC)
    6. WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND ABOUT TO BE ROBBED, HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF YOU AND THIS WOULD ATTRACT OTHER MOTORIST'S ATTENTION
    6. BE AT ALERT
    7. MOST OF ALL , PRAY NOT TO BE A VICTIM.

There is hardly a week without a robbery incident at that location. The authorities need to come to our aid and do something to secure the lives of the many commuters that have to ply that route daily. LAGOS STATE, PLEASE SOS!!!!
