Reps Engage In Physical Combat Over Election Of Principal Officers

The House of Representatives today descended into full blown crisis as members engaged in physical combat over the election of House principal officers.

Breaking into two factions, one faction supported the ruling APC, which seeks to choose the House principal officers, and the other, backed the speaker, Yakubu Dogara, who insists on defying the party.

The crisis started as soon as the speaker arrived at the House to commence plenary and a group of lawmakers rushed forward to seize the mace, hence disrupting the plenary session.

The federal lawmakers threw caution to the wind which led to blows and chairs flying about....... And also a missing mace.

    5. I don't know why these bunch of men want to frustrate the effort of the present administration. Selection of principals, house leaders and what not, should be done and decided by/within the members of the parliament ... and NOT by the party faithful. I think it is time that the APC as a whole, draw the line and stop the constant interference and trying to impose a candidate on the house.

    Change is here.
And it has come wit fierce anger and boxing gloves.
Stella this your video looks like d abridged version. Thank u for d info. Channels news at 10pm's gonna be interesting. Can't wait.

To Chief Bola Ahmed Asiwaju Tinubu, I sing:
Opolo eye, e no be open eye.
And if you're new in the game, make you go pay your tithe.
Shebi enu t'aja ma n fi nbo mon re sere, lo fi ma sha le ba
    Ah! Eshin to siwaju.
Se b'oun na lafi n joba.

This is Season 1. Nigerians are in for a whole lotta drama. It's d turn of d North Central, if only they voted GEJ to complete d South South turn, but no, they had to merge wit d North East and select Buhari. Osetigo!

To Saraki and Buhari and co, when una 8yrs finish, it's coming South again and straight to South East. People should go learn about d entity called NIGERIA. It's complicated.

  40. When people were voting for change, they didn't understand the type of change they were voting for. Thank God Goodluck has left otherwise as usual, they would have blamed him.

  42. Disorganised party with no programme. All they planned was to win presidential, and after that what else. Thank God for the wisdom of solomon Goodluck used on you touts. Let us see the change nah, you people are fighting yourselves over House while a leader by example celebrated his opponent ascension into power while he descend. Goodluck, we forever miss you. All the best sir, I know you must be laughing now wherever you are. This marriage organised by some selfish political old fools just to make sure they humiliated you is backfiring them. Buhari is not saying anything because his CPC is the ruling and not AC. Ntor @ Tinuthief.

    1. Buhari is merely sticking to his earlier promise of no interference with nomination of any kind. But if matters get out of hand he'll have to wade in as the president of the country and not as APC "leader".
It's quite embarrassing that barely weeks into a new administration that elected members can be this disorganised. And it all boils down to personal preference and favoritism. Selfish individuals they all are.
