President Buhari Set To Visit The White House

US President Barack Obama is set to host Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House on Monday, July 20.

According to a statement on the White House official website, the visit will underscore the United States’ “longstanding friendship with Nigeria, our commitment to strengthening and expanding our partnership with Nigeria’s new government, and our support for the Nigerian people following their historic democratic elections and peaceful transfer of power”.

It also said President Obama looks forward to discussing with President Buhari the two countries’ many shared priorities including US.-Nigeria cooperation to advance a holistic, regional approach to combating Boko Haram, as well as Nigeria’s efforts to advance important economic and political reforms that will help unlock its full potential as a regional and global leader.

Asides hosting President Buhari at the White House, President Buhari’s senior advisors will also get to meet with their U.S. counterparts for consultations and many other events aimed at building a stronger relationship between both countries.

  7. I hope this will help Alh Buhari in fulfilling his numerous mouth watering campaign promisees that helped him to win the election;24 hrs power supply, one dollar to one naira,Petrol N20 per litre, massive employment and an end to boko haram.

  8. Well, as much as we need help in Nigeria, I do not subscribe to our govt putting us bare before the U.S like we are "doomed" people who require constant help.

I think that we should mince what we allow the U.S get involved with, before they turn GMB into a puppet leader of a "failed" nation. Once the avenue to interfere becomes overly accommodating for them, be rest assured it'll be abused soonest. Just my thoughts anyway.

  17. Wakawaka President, is this the change you are given us or is something pursuing you from Aso Rock?
Please put your house in order before globetrotting. It seems you are yet to learn a lesson from your experience as a military ruler. They will soon impeach you in absentia.

  18. It would have better if Osibanjo was President because this Buhari will not even understand what Obama will be saying and cannot have an intelligent conversation with world leaders. I hear he can only speak and read Arab fluently. Naija don enter one chance.

    1. My brother/sister this aint fair. What's wrong with having an accent? All over the world, people have accents and it has little or nothingv top do with performance. Moreso we voted for PMB to be there for 4 years, so its only fair we judge him after his first tenure. Finally this man ruled before and isn't a novice in listening to foreigners, so please cut him some slack ... Cheers

  19. I don't think this is wise. Has President Buhari tried tackling Boko Haram? Maybe I missed out somewhere. As far as I know he hasn't tried, I think he needs to try first and test his abilities before soliciting for help from the U.S. While at that he should minimise his movements and manage the empty treasury wisely.

  20. That's good. He should not be convinced to revoke the anti-gay law while at it
