A major investigation is underway in the oil and gas sector as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and The Department of State Security (DSS) are investigating the crude oil swap programme and the Offshore Processing Agreements (OPAs) involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and some local oil and gas companies, is no longer a hot- button issue.
However, Tope Sonubi, Ade Odunsi and Tonye Cole were some of the few oil magnates who benefited immensely from former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke sleazy administration, no doubt.
But that is not the news. Yesterday morning, Friday, 19th June, Tonye Cole, one of the three men behind Sahara Energy, allegedly went to prostrate before former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Ogun State, seeking his help in pleading with President Muhammadu Buhari to go easy on them over several deals his company made in connivance with the past government.
According to Thecapital.ng he pleaded with Obasanjo to save them from prosecution and intimidation.
Curiously, however, Obasanjo allegedly wisely and cautiously played safe by asking Tonye to go home and pray.
Obasanjo's reluctance to throw his weight behind Tonye's plea was borne out of his need to stay clear of corrupt and disreputable companies of any kind; this is because of his relationship with the no-nonsense President Buhari.
Truth and lies mixed together. He was there no doubt but he is in good terms with Obasanjo that they can even discuss whatever over the phone. Obasanjo is not his mate and he prostrated in greeting and not in begging. Haba! People sha can over emphasise. And they have started paying back the excesses. Take this to the bank.
ReplyDeleteWhere you there or did he tell you he was going there to pay him a courtesy visit?
DeleteI don't see Tonye going this far. He's a respectable pastor, although not a saint but he no dey do oversabi. I don't totally buy this gist.
DeletePastor my Bum-bum. What people do in the name of God will shock the heck out of you. They carry the prefix-Pastor/man-of-God and then steals, commit adultery, lie, defraud etc. Tonye's company was part of the any companies involved with the fuel subsidy scam. Yes! And you call him a pastor. We better bury our emotions and sentiments if we want this country to grow. Even if they pay back all they have stolen from this country, they will pay with jail terms. Be it they doable or prostrate. Awon ole oshi
DeleteThis are the kind of news I like to hear. They shall be disgraced!!!
ReplyDeleteO setiala! Every action has got its own consequencies. We suffered cos of these three muskeeters; omo its pay back time. Ama kip watching and EFCC abeeg no hanky panky oh jare. The cabals that dainty daisy talked about are surfacing but shes still sing like a canary and ket the cabals dance the dance of shame.....Baba 80 ejoo give *side eyes* to the prostraters biko. warreva

But Buhari has mandated that those that were involved should either refund by importing oil equal to that amount they looted or whatever free or pay back to the money to NNPC. Sahara energy and some other oil marketers have since started to refund. I guess Femi is behind this again. That one sef name dey the list and he has not stated how he intends to repay back. They need to revisit that his Farouk Lawal case sef.
ReplyDeleteFemi Otedola that is very cunny.. the man sabi jam heads ehn. He'll be the one to instigate the govt against his major competitors, and will be the same person begging for pardon on their behalf. Ask Aliko, he's been victimized by Femi and knows his moves too well to fall again.
DeleteMeanwhile OBJ is to blame, he was the one that literally signed the bulk of Nigeria away to Femi and his ilks of prodigal sons. They were all untouchable until now. If baba doesn't want Buhari's administration to rubbish his little integrity, he had better steer clear off these young men's matter. Else Buhari will rubbish him along them o. That man ain't playing at all. Baba respect yourself and don't let these pikin dem ridicule you where you are being revered at the moment. Enough said
Who cares!

ReplyDeleteFor me, he is the most powerful nigerian and hes wisdom know no bounds
He is the embodiment of what is wrong with Nigeria, corruption Incorporated. How many times have we heard that someone visited him, to help them fix a bad situation at Aso Rock. Isn't that called interfearance with the affairs of the state. He acts like the head of an organised crime family. And that's not a compliment.
DeleteI would hope that the Buhari government wouldn't tolerate his meddling and deal judiously with this crooks.
Gbam!!! ONE MILLION LIKES...
DeleteHehe, disrespect Obasanjo at your own risk
ReplyDeleteObasanjo knows that as an Old General like himself, Buhari can hardly be manipulated nor listen to any pleas on behalf of those selected few he wishes to witch-hunt.
ReplyDeleteTalking about probes, I hope some core muslim northerners will be made to answer to their shady deals too. Cos it seems like they re all saints with clean slates but we know better than that
Ahhhh so?
ReplyDeletehian...a sinner runneth when no man pursueth..
ReplyDeleteAnd the chicken has come home to roast! When he was duping and chopping Nigeria's money with that crook of a deziani woman, did he remember obasanjo, he should get ready to face d consequences. I also sincerely hope this probe and investigation reaches deziani too, cos that woman is a master thief, she's one of those who destroyed the economy of this country.
ReplyDeleteRoost not Roast!
DeleteHmmm...We watch how events unfold.

Sahara Energy deserve heavy punishments aswear. Diezani must not go scoter. She must explain why she shenked a very honest petroleum transaction between Naija and British Petroleum. She gave the transaction to Sahara energy who refused to remit monies, they pocketed everything. The story long well well joor. They must be probed o, Sahara energy plus diezani Allison. Kai! Good luck was a very weak presido sha o, he had absolutely no control. Abi diezanigiveamtoyochop????
ReplyDeleteLol! Are you sure you're in Nigeria ? Don't you know that Diezani's younger sister is GEJ's baby mama? Lmfao! I like GEJ as a person but he was indeed a weak president. He surrounded himself with dubious women .

ReplyDeleteEverything now attributed to Buhari. 'Mechanic no come gree us know who be madman'. That's how Otedola and Dangote posed to witch hunt their counterparts and we were fast in calling the name of Buhari.
ReplyDeleteWho is dis OBJ sef... Big men run 2 him asif his untouchable. Shey Na only him dey dis country seff.
ReplyDeleteNicole, get your facts right, it is her cousin not her younger sister that is his baby mama. I still don't understand why people keep making statements of which they are not 100% sure.
ReplyDeleteI hope they are going to probe all those northerners that sucked this country dry. We in the West, South and East are so easy to manipulate. All of you are shouting they should deal with Madueke and I don't hear any of you asking for previous ministers and all those northerners who had exclusive rights to the oil industry in the past to be probed. For years, we down south suffered the environmental devastation of the oil being extracted and yet non of our people were good enough for the positions of power in the oil industry.I say kudos to Madueke, she is from the oil producing area and a woman at that, all those alhaji's should go and die if it is paining them that she excluded them.
I would advice people abusing her, to clamour for a proper probe into the oil industry of her and..... ALLL previous oil ministers and for a breakdown of how the oil sector is staffed by geographical origin. I still cannot understand how come it is only the north that seems capable of producing management for NNPC. Southernerns "shine your eyes". Do not allow yourselves be manipulated like puppets. All these people who have been deprived of what they think is their birthright, all they do is start a rumour and like goats people pick it up and bleat it on and with time everybody assumes it must be the truth.
I want the government to probe everybody. Why would he say he is not probing anybody and yet is surreptitiously probing the last oil minister. I say lets take it all the way back. Obasanjo is one of the most horribly corrupt people I know and he sits there posing like a saint. His administration should be probed and he needs to account for how he killed members of the village of Odi in Bayelsa state because 5 policement were killled. He thinks it has been forgotten? He has blood on his hands and yet we stupid southerners sit and treat him like a revered statesman. He is nothing but a bloody killer same as Idi Amin.
