New Monarch, Prince Aladetoyinbo, Emerges Deji Of Akure

A prince from the Osupa Ruling House in Akure, Ondo State, Prince Kole Patrick Aladetoyinbo, has emerged the new Deji of Akure.

The new Deji, Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo, who lived in Baltimore, United States of America, until his selection was unanimously selected on Sunday by the kingmakers of the ancient town among 13 other princes that had shown interest in the stool.

The process of installing a new Monarch for the vacant stool of the Deji of Akure Kingdom in Ondo state had on Friday began with the screening of contestants' credentials and family background and today,Monday, the governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko is expected to present the staff of authority to the new monarch.

The meeting was attended by some officials of the Akure South Local Government who were there to observe the process.

It will be recalled that a deposed Deji of Akure, Prince Adesina Adepoju was dethroned and banished in 2010 for assaulting his late wife, Princess Bolanle Adepoju, publicly in Akure.

This led to the immediate installation of Late Oba Adebiyi Adesida, from Ojijogun ruling family in 2010 as a replacement. But unfortunately, Oba Adesida died on the throne in December 2013 after a three years reign.

Late Adesida's first daughter, Adetutu nee Ojie was immediately installed as regent to occupy the throne pending a substantial king.

Now that another new Monarch is in sight, the deposed Prince Adepoju has gone to the High Court in Akure to seek an injunction restraining the state government, Kingmakers and the ruling house from installing a new king pending the determination of his suits.
