How Former Niger Gov. Babangida Aliyu looted N2.9b on the eve of his departure

The Niger State Government on Wednesday revealed how former governor of Niger state looted N2.9 billion on the eve of his departure from office without doing nothing.
The government however asked former Governor to refund the fund back to the state’s coffer.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the State
Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Dooba, indicated that the money was taken as loan on the eve of Aliyu’s departure.

It stated that although the new administration of Governor Abubakar Bello would not witch-hunt any past leader, “the misappropriated money belongs to the people.

“They took this loan on the eve of their departure. And as was customary with that administration, they did nothing with the money.
“You can’t collect a loan on behalf of the people and share it among yourselves. That’s literally what they did. They simply raised a list and allocated money to those on the list.
”The office of the SSG, for example, was given N600 million. The records did not say what he would do with the money. Well, we want our money back. The money belongs to the people,” it said.
The statement added that the present administration had prioritised the needs of the people, stressing that such looted but recovered funds would be expended on projects.
”Our people need food, shelter, security, roads, water and so forth. For example, the governor wants to start with the provision of potable water and in the coming weeks, we’ll provide water at predictable intervals to Nigerlites.

“On the problem of electricity, we have started an arrangement to rent a power plant from overseas to provide regular electricity before a permanent solution is found.
“Also, Minna-Kataeregi road, Kontagora-Tegina, Minna-Suleja, Bakeko-Katcha, Kaffin-koro, Kuta-Sabon Gari and Maitumbi-Maikunkele roads among others, are receiving urgent attention,” it said.

  16. All of them politicians are not to be trusted. Babangida Aliyu started well as governor then he even changed his name from HIS EXCELLENCY title to SERVANT LEADER, LOL all na wash just to deceive Niger state citizens.
Aliyu was one of the few respected northern governors due to his outspokenness but i gave up on him during election when he was blabbing about PMB being worst thing that can ever happen to Nigeria if elected as president. He was sounding like a sinking ship and the wind of change started from his state even as a PDP state i thought he would win the state for his party but failed.
    EFCC over to you guys.
NorthernLeaders/businessmen/politicians are very greedy sha, with all their wealth stashed in UK,Saudi,UAE,Switzerland banks these men and women won't help their own citizens they prefer being worshipped by their people. Their help goes only to their immediate family, you dont see their kids stay abroad after studies because there is work waiting for them upon their arrival back to Naija.
Those of them in civil service are worst they use pen to steal more than politicians. Some are extremely rich with millions of $€£ stashed in oversea banks but prefer to drive peugout/Honda/Toyota in Nigeria. Let northern citizens start asking their politicians question on how their common wealths are being spent. They are all criminals and selfish people.
