Elikem Reveals He Paid $25,000 For Pokello's Bride Price

Former BBA Hotshot, Elikem Kumordzi who wedded a fellow BBA housemate, Pokello Nare last weekend has revealed that he paid $25,000 (N5million) for her dowry.

According to an exclusive interview with Peacefmonline.com, Elikem said “I paid a lot of money and before you pay such money for a lady’s hand in marriage you have to be sure she’s the one. Otherwise you will be a silly young man throwing a lot of money away. So it feels good to be married to the right woman. It feels amazing. No mistakes or regrets whatsoever.”

.....SO BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER...

Asked how much he paid as bride price for Pokello, an initially reluctant Elikem had to spill out the details, because according to him, people are mentioning wrong figures all over and he wanted to set the records right.

“I initially didn’t want to make this information public but people are getting figures wrong so I want to correct it. The lobola (Bride price for a traditional marriage in Zimbabwe) was 25,000 US Dollars. A deposit of 20,000 US Dollars was paid on Saturday and the 5,000 US Dollars balance is to be paid by the white wedding,” Elikem revealed.

According to Elikem, a Ghanaian Actor/ Fashion Designer, the very private traditional marriage ceremony took place far away in Zimbabwe on Saturday June 20.

He further said, according to Zimbabwean culture, a couple waits for months or even years before their white wedding, so the date for their white wedding is not known yet.

He however indicated that the white wedding would take place both in Zimbabwe and Ghana on separate dates.

The couple; Elikem (a Ghanian) and Pokello (a Zimbabwean) met during the 2013 Big Brother Africa in South Africa and have been in love since then. After being together for almost a year, he proposed to her last year at the Ghana Music Awards when they went on stage to present an award and now they are married!

They are currently on honeymoon in an undisclosed location. After the honeymoon, they will head back to Accra as Elikem revealed.

    3. Zimbabwe has no currency since 2008 we use US dollars. Please use google to avoid ignorance. This is our culture our bride price is supposed to be expensive. Even if you make a woman pregnant and you don't want to marry her you pay bride price or you cant see the baby. Women are precious in Zimbabwean culture only your house must cost more than a bride. And just so you know if you divorce the wife don't expect money back.

  19. Stella me I think its worth it. On most occasions when d man has paid so much for ur dowry, it means he's serious. No be small thing to drop 5m on bride price, me I feel he will value the wife better bcos he knows she aint cheap. And he knows if he misbehave and d bride leaves, 5m investment don go down the drain.
We ladies sell ourselves too cheaply nwdays. Some women are even paying dere own bride price and sponsoring dere own wedding codely. How do u think d man will respect you. afterall na you marry urself, in stella's words.
