COPPER IUD AND THE RISKS
I'm a mother of 2 and don't want any more kids, so I'm considering the Copper IUD at my 6wks postpartum checkup. Please has anyone used it? If yes, how much does it cost? What side effects were encountered? If any, did they subside over time? Any good news about it?
Kindly help with useful answers so that I know what I'm getting myself into. Online reviews of the IUD are giving me frights especially the procedure of insertion.
Please help, anyone!
God bless you all.
Above all,it will make you FAT...
ReplyDeleteThe best family planning is by using condom and withdrawal method...
Withdrawal ke?.
DeleteMy son came through withdrawal o
The procedure isn't painful, dont worry.side effects could include cramps and heavy menstrual bleeding, among others, those are the common pnes though. It's a very good source of family planning and no it doesn't make you fat
DeleteDon't panic, I have one on right now and the only side effect is heavy bleeding off and on for 3months. You can fix one and let it stay for atleast 3years. You ve to be conscious of where you do any toilet business cos of infection other than that you are good to go. It will NOT make you FAT.

Instead of u to ask ur doctor all this silly questions u are coming here to ask people who don't even know the meaning of IUD. No wonder stella did not comment.
ReplyDeleteUse condoms.
ReplyDeleteis copper iud the same as coils. thats d one i planned going fr tmrw when i wl go fr my son s six months immunization.
ReplyDeletebtw, pls bv which of d beaches in lagos is good and fun to be. and moreso less expensive. thanks
im a mother of 2, had my last son in feb 2013 and had the copper IUD on in Jan 201, it was a seamless process, i didnt feel a thing and havent felt a thing since he insertion. no side effects except for a heavier period flow. for me its working just fine as i havent fallen pregnant since then.
ReplyDeletePeole around me say ive gotton bigger and relate it to the IUD so ive started a dietand heatly eating routine... hope my review was helpful
Nawa
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing frightening about the procedure woman! If a 3kg baby can come out there and a d* can b inserted there surely an IUD can b inserted. No hormones, no side effect. With all contraceptive, it is not 100%. Go for it.
ReplyDeleteYou NO WANT MORE GINI??? ABEG OPEN DAT YOUR TOHTOH For your man make i pour yeye deeply inside you having kids is a bless lady dont dull urself .make u no come regret later leave urself as u be and just calculate but touch not ur womb harm not,if ur destiny breeds 100 why fighting ur Lord??

I knew a friend who did it and she was bleed profusely. She bleeds 25 times in 30 days. Not like i wanna scare you, but that's what I know about it
ReplyDelete*Bleeding* i meant to type
ReplyDeleteAnyway whatever that is I don't know, but there is nothing as safe as Natural. Use the Natural Family Planning method. Study it with your husband and both of you should agree and understand it. Get a book called Billings way of Natural Family Planning.
ReplyDeleteI am a pro in it, I can put you through. Goodluck
Natural family planning won't work for everybody..if you have the normal 28 day cycle,it'll be easier to calculate safe days..what of those that have irregular cycle??in the end,its best to go for what works for you. For my first,I used natural method and it worked for 2 years plus..I had a normal 28 days cycle..but after I had my second, cycle turn abnormal o..some 20 days, some 31 days..so it has been really difficult calculating safe days..I'm going for the norplant tomorrow jare..I no fit shout..I be lekpa,so weight gain no go do me anything
DeleteIsn't that for women with regular periods?
DeleteWhat if her period is irregular?
DeleteAsk the professional who recommended it to you.
ReplyDeletePlease go to the hospital inugo?
ReplyDeleteOya, ladies in d house over 2 u all.
ReplyDeleteyou should not be scared of the insertion now after you've had a whole baby come out of the same place....lol
ReplyDeleteI am not a doctor but I served(nysc) in a health centre in lagos.
the little I know about copper IUD is that it can last for about 5years or more and its very effective for women that do not want to have children anymore or wants to have a lot of space in between each child.
the husband doesn't feel a thing during intercourse.
although, I heard that there might be heavy bleeding during menstruation.
but all in all, I think its the best long term choice that is available.

Where are the mothers in the house??? Step forward please.....
ReplyDeleteI hate IUDs..first of,the insertion process is painful, you'll be at risk of infection, plus heavy flow during menses..and sometimes, the copper might even shift (though rare)..if it fails,it might lead to ectopic pregnancy or a baby coming out with the copper T in its hand..LOL
ReplyDeleteit cost 1k sha in a teaching hospital or health centres..
I tried doing it o..but as the midwife put hand inside to fix am,I jump up say I no want again o..plus I can't bear the thought of something inside me..
I'm going for the norplant tomorrow..major side effect is slight headache and nausea, spotting and weight gain (I no kukuma fat before)..I can live with that..plus its 98% effective..its still 1k..
if you're not on the big side (fatty),norplant is very very ok..
But wait o, na woman go get belle, carry am for 9 months, enter labour room to deliver, come out with stitched up tohtoh, breastfeed, have sleepless night and na she go still go for family planning..IDONGERRIT..*smh* after dem go say its a man's world..mtchewww
How can a nurse put her hand inside to fix it?
DeleteI've done it 3x and they never inserted hands into me. There's an instrument for the insertion and it takes less than 5 mins for the whole process of insertion.
Poster, it depends on your body system. I did the last one four years ago and am Ok except for the heavier blood flow during menstruation.
Your last comment make sense die. See what we women go through. And one man go dey yap its a man's world.
DeleteIf i hear.

Try the Norplant or implanon. Like the poster above described you'll get those side effects and with implanon you'll might get shorter periods or non at all, that's the beauty of it. So you don't have to worry about anything shifting down there or dislodging.
DeleteMe sef tire o..she say she wan examine my cervix, abi wetin dem dey call am..before the procedure..na the process of checking the cervix, I change my mind..I asked her why she needs to check it first, she didn't give me any concrete answer..you know how some government health workers dey behave..
DeleteHian! That nurse is a quack. There is an instrument for it and there is one for measu he length of the cervix so that the IUCD doesn't shift or prick ur hubby during sex.
DeleteThe norplant is the one like the tiny stick inserred in the arm if am right. It's 98%safe but also has side effects. Initially had the one of five years until I started bleeding like person wey get fibroid. Had to be changing like every 2 hours. I complained to my gynea and I changed it to the one of 3 years (implanon) this one I no see menses for complete 1 year. Only me go remove am. Not I dey carry calender plus withdrawal for the past 10 months and God has beING on my side. Not trying to scare you
DeleteMarried women over to you people. I forgot single mothers, also.
ReplyDeleteHello!I have been on it for d past 3yrs and I have no issue with it.I inserted mine at d airforce base Ikeja for 2k.it is great one won't disturb or sex life like some liars would say.
ReplyDeleteMadam, I understand you wanna enjoy your sex life but I beg you don't. Please . Just two kids ? Please don't
ReplyDeleteI know of plenty pple regretingn this action you are about to take
Some lost one of their children' and was desperate for another one but couldn't cos of this action you wanna take . Please think twice
Haha, what kind of comment is this? Lmao.
DeleteI've done it thrice and never had a problem conceiving.
It's reversible now, we're not talking about tubal ligation. Talking like its a death sentence.
DeleteHmmmmn
ReplyDeleteWhy not calculate your safe days and have sex on those days? Or you plan on going behind your hubby for dis contraceptive?
Am really not a fan of putting external objects in my body sha so I will pass
Doctors answer ooo.
ReplyDeleteJust a small family is enuf. Sabo Ora and Orela, u r wanted
ReplyDeletePoster when u get to the hospital ask all the questions u have, better still read it up on the net. Too many hands dey spoil soup, people will tell u different experiences, another person's outcome from it may not mean u will have same. That's why there are many options with various advantages and disadvantages.
ReplyDeleteThe hormonal IUD may cause noncancerous (benign) growths called ovarian cysts, which usually go away on their own.
ReplyDeleteThe hormonal IUD can cause hormonal side effects similar to those caused by oral contraceptives, such as breast tenderness, mood swings, headaches, and acne. This is rare. When side effects do happen, they usually go away after the first few months.

ReplyDeleteNo two individuals are the same, so don't swallow every information you get online hook, line and sinker
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I think IUD family planning is the next best after Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) which is natural and the simplest method, though it is the least reliable. IUD can span for 3-5 years, you don't bother with remembering to take pills which is why its highly effective, and so far, it has not been associated with cancer unlike some other methods of contraception. I believe its bc it doesn't interfere with the body's hormonal regulation and the production of oestrogen, luteinizjng hormone and follicle stimulating hormone which regulates ovulation. What it simply does is to prevent the fertilization of an ova by a sperm cell in the ampulla of the fallopian tube, and in cases where fertilization takes place, it will prevent implantation in the uterus. You can experience heavy menstruation a few months after the insertion but worry not. It'll cease with time. It is also pocket-friendly
I have been on it since last year, the only thing i experience was the heavy float of my period for the first six month, am enjoy it now.
ReplyDeleteI do no family planning ish. My last baby is 6 yrs and I know my game plan. If you wish to know, pay 5k consultation n I will teach you
