...Just asking
Would a coalition between former ruling party PDP and now ruling party APC be possible?I mean if they merge together, wont all these bickering and fighting stop and they get to work rebuilding Nigeria?
I honestly think the real problem of not concentrating on the job at hand right now lies in these two parties.
What do you think? If you would disagree or agree, what would be your reasons?

it can't be possible
ReplyDelete#GODWIN™
Nope. No merger. Oppositn is def good
DeleteNo I disagree...
ReplyDeleteWe need an opposition party biko...
There must be competition
ReplyDeleteYes. Competition is very good for business.
DeleteThere must be opposition party jare.
No.
ReplyDeleteIt is not possible to merge as one and should not even happen.
For us to have a successful democracy..there must be an opposition especially in Nigeria.
Just like we have the democrats and republicans and no hope of any merge in the nearest century..this is how it should be for PDP and APC.
There could be a temporary Alliance, which we saw few days ago..
A coalition government is encouraged during Wartime or Economic crisis... even though we are in some sort of economic difficulty,i do not trust our politicians to carry on a healthy coalition process.. We the masses, might suffers!
I think things should be left the way they are,so we don't end up being the puppets.
Hey Iphie I'm here lol.
DeleteOK your points are valid and reasonable. But remember that the Democrats and the Republicans from inception are made up people who have entirely different political ideologies and prospects. Unlike Nigeria where u have the same individuals shuffling btw the opposition and the ruling party, thus, makes us have the same ideologies, albeit hiding under different political party names.
What I'm saying is that those who occupy the opposition and ruling party, as the case may be, are always the same people in Nigeria. So merging would make little difference in Nigeria unlike other countries where politicians are principled and are guided by integrity.
Have a look through the APC and the PDP, you'll find that the majority of those who are now APC strong members migrated from the PDP. What have they done differently from moving parties? Nothing, they still have the same ideologies but only moved because they couldn't have their ways in the previous party. Everybody wants to lead, that's the problem. Once they cannot be entertained in the fore front they run to a party that can entertain their pettiness.
Therefore I conclude that merging of both parties will leave us with little or no difference. But it can however consolidate our issues, in that whoever takes the lead in the party when they have merged would have been chosen unanimously by all, hence leaving us with less issues... and it will make each person wait for his turn without sabotaging the other.....because by then they would be under one umbrella which would mean less political propaganda.
I mighty also add Iphie... in every democratic government having a formidable opposition is absolutely healthy. Then again, until all the political parties in Nigeria are guided by strict guidelines and principles that forbids certain candidates from just defecting from one party to another aimlessly, only then can an opposition party be effectively grounded. For now it's a big joke I must say.
DeleteThey should not merge opposition is very necessary for development...
ReplyDeleteWish all u want...its not even remotely possible
ReplyDeleteAre you that worthless that you begging Pple to visit your blog?
DeleteIt will really solve things all these fighting would end.
ReplyDeleteBetter lie. Ordinary senate presidency apc is fighting apc
DeleteHmmmm that would be risky bc dey will now loot the money without anyone keeping dem in check. Its always good to av an opposition party, in that way the ruling party will av someone to always keep an eye on them, by so d work will be done faster and better to avoid criticism from d opposition party.
ReplyDelete@Stella, the bickering won't stop o, afterall they have issues within each party, different factions too. So how do you think it will work if these two merge into one?
ReplyDeleteAlso, merging is not good for our democracy, opposition party is meant to check mate the ruling party, keep them on their toes.
So merger no go work+its not gonna solve any problem. #my2cents#
That's because the same people keep going back and forth
DeleteWhatever mehnnn!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what is wrong with Nigerians? Strong opposition is a very very important ingredient for any democracy to work properly. The reason why PDP was able to corrupt and loot with impunity from 1999 - 2014 was because there was no opposition. Who would want that again? You know Nigerians have a culture of corruption and flamboyant living, therefore if all the politicians are in one boat it will be "business as usual".
ReplyDeleteI am vehemently opposed to any APC/PDP coalition. If the ruling party cannot handle opposition (no matter how hostile) and at the same time run Nigeria properly, then they are not supposed to be there. If Nigerian cannot operate properly with a vibrant opposition, then maybe democracy is not for us.
Very valid.
DeleteThis is the last thing Everybody Tinubu will agree to
ReplyDeleteI think it would be perfect if they'll all forego their various personal interests and gratification for the good of the nation. Power has been rotating among the same set of people in Nigeria. Even the old retired Generals and past Head-of-States have the power to manipulate and steer the affairs of this nation in whichever direction they deem fit. So if all of them put heads together, call a spade a spade, all hands on deck and say no to corruption in all honesty, there would be great positive change that will leave Nigerians speechless and filled with gratitude and awe. But the question is, will they? In Nigerian politics, the most desperate person wins. These people have committed a lot of atrocities to be there, including rituals and all-what-nots, so they're not there for our good, which is why I'll say yes, coalition of APC and PDP will better our tomorro, but they will not because of greed and selfishness
ReplyDeleteYou are so naive it loosened my tooth. So they shld all hold hands and sing 'qumbaya'
DeleteAnonymous, you did not make sense. Keep quiet wen intelligent people r talkin
DeleteI agree. Like I said, until there's a vast change in their political ideologies and the effective practice of it, I'm afraid we still have the same people although under different names. A contrast in their principles is when we can truly say that we have a formidable opposition.
DeleteNigeria is not and would not practise one system party there must be Opposition to keep the ruling party on their toes.
ReplyDelete1. It simply will not work because of vested interest.
ReplyDelete2. Suppose such a coalition were to see happen, politrickicians will always find something to divide themselves.
3. At this point in our national life, the last thing we need is a one party state.
4. We ought to be very afraid as Nigerians if such a coalition were to see the light of the day because when politrickicians come together nothing good can ever come out of it.
Need I say more?
Coalition would not be healthy for our democracy, we need a strong opposition to checkmate the excess and abuse of power.
ReplyDeleteIt can never happen.
ReplyDeleteWe need opposition party to keep any ruling party on its toes.
The next election will be super interesting.
Without opposition what's there in politics?
ReplyDeleteLai lai it can never happen, they has to be an opposition party n its called survival of d fitest.
ReplyDeleteYetinde says Impossible, osan ati oruu o lee pade lailai, stella are u kidding me?there won't be fun @ all.
ReplyDeleteThere's no one party system in America so why should there be one party system in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteYetinde says Impossible, osan ati oruu o lee pade lailai, stella are u kidding me?there won't be fun @ all.
ReplyDeleteImpossible.
ReplyDeleteI disagree though, let's see what APC will do.they were too despirate to rule and Buhari is not up to 100days in office
ReplyDeleteHaa Stella dear that would be pouring water into an already hot oil.We need an opposition party to make things work o if not.....
ReplyDeleteGod to be back o.....,no thanks to thieves....
It wont work cos its like put d power rule d nation one basket...opposite wud put d government in shape.
ReplyDeleteOpposite is needed to have a balance
