Two prominent Nigerian entertainment industry practitioners, legendary, DJ Jimmy Jatt and multiple award winning gospel artiste; Sammie Okposo have joined the ranks of top entertainment personalities that have enrolled on the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Scheme (NEIHIS).
Aside their enrolment, the two top celebrities were among entertainers that volunteered to be goodwill ambassadors of the scheme. The official presentation of the NEIHIS ID card and other relevant care access documents were made to them on Friday, 15th May, 2015.
Speaking during the presentation, the two celebrities applauded the initiative and commended the organizers for their doggedness and sacrifice towards ensuring a well-structured health care scheme for the entertainment industry.
In his words, DJ Jimmy Jatt said he is excited about the reality of the scheme.
"One might not really know the essence of what is happening now in our industry until one is in dire need of these services especially under emergency situations. What is happening now is something that should have happened a long time ago but the most important thing is that it's finally a reality. I enjoin all other entertainment practitioners across Nigeria to also make this informed decision".
Also speaking during his presentation, Sammie Okposo said the industry is finally on the part of honour. "The Era of begging in our industry seems to have come to an end. Health is wealth and we as entertainers have to do what it takes to safeguard our health. I'm proud to be on the NEIHIS scheme and enjoin others in our industry to do the same. The Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Trust Fund is also there as a benefit for all enrolees".
NEIHIS is a private customized scheme designed for the entertainment industry and endorsed by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). It’s an initiative of the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Lecture Series (NEILS).
