The National Council of Elders of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has called on the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to punish all acts of corruption in the country, noting that the peaceful atmosphere in the country after the 2015 elections was the outcome of sustained prayers.
The elders stated this at a press conference in Gbagada on the 14th annual elder’s congress holding at the Redemption Camp on Friday and Saturday. It was chaired by the Chairman of RCCG National Council of Elders, Pastor Israel Abatan.
Speaking at the press conference, the Publicity Secretary of the council, Pastor Ayodeji Olulani, said if the President-elect and the Vice President-elect, Prof. Oluyemi Osinbajo wished to succeed in the next four years, there must be consequences for all acts of corruption.
He said: “There must be consequences for all categories of corruption; either those involved in drug trafficking or engaged in armed robbery. Corruption is corruption. Contractors who build substandard roads or bridges should face the full consequences of their actions.”
The council also called on Nigerians to stop glorifying criminals and corrupt leaders.
“We should question the corrupt leaders and reject their ill-gotten wealth to re-establish the country’s moral value,” he added.
Also speaking, the council’s Vice Chairman, Obadiah Mulero, expressed concerns at the scale of corrupt practices in the country’s political system.
He said, “Our leaders must demonstrate strong will and readiness to serve common and popular interests above selfish and parochial interests. The mechanisms for checks and balances should be strengthened to promote justice and fairness.”
Dailypost reportage.
So Buhari should spend time he would use constructively running after corrupt politicians?...or perhaps they mean the ones that would emerge from the new government?I stand to be corrected but punishing corrupt politicians would mean 99.9percent of the present and old politicans...thats a lot of work and time.
What do you think?
That means he will start from Amaechi and Tinubu...
ReplyDeleteMtcheeeew....

ReplyDeleteIf that's what Buhari wants to do, then he should be rest assured that 4years won't be enough to dish out d punishment.. Ndi oshi ndi oshi bu ihe juru na gomenti.
ReplyDeleteWay to go....punishment starting from the pastors and imams
ReplyDeleteIt can be done side by side Stella.to set future standards, the present must see the past taking responsibility for their actions.
ReplyDeleteits the only way.GMB isn't the judiciary. He won't be running after anyone.
if we all see that there are consequences to our actions,we would behave accordingly. It won't eradicate it,there's no perfect system but we can't let it go either.it sends a wrong signal.
you are in a system that works, please lets help our system work too.
Stella,NOTHING constructive will be achieved if offenders are glorified and allowed to frolic in society.

ReplyDeleteI hope they will not start politicizing in redeem o. Mbok daddy G.O should call them to order. Corrupt politicians my @$$
ReplyDeleteA better Nigeria is all I pray for O Lord.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a good idea for the punishment to start with the mega churches such as Redeem being probed for misappropriation of funds. I wonder what took Redeem so long to speak against corruption when there has been ample opportunity to do so in the last 16 or more years. Charlatans, spiritual gangsters.
ReplyDelete@anonymous won't I be justified if I call you a fool.this is how you people go about spreading false rumour I am not ikpe or ikpu or whatever the stupid name is.bitch click on my name add me to know me better else keep your dirty fingers tidy #okbye
ReplyDeleteNo be the same pastor Adeboye way dey deceive Jonathan with him prayer be this? Most Redeemers didn't vote for Buhari ooo, point of correction.Did u hear Adeboye speech for Osinbanjo before election, not to talk of Adeboye support for Buhari. They were for Jonathan, hypocrites every where. It's God wish to rescue this country from the corrupt and evil hands of Jonathan and his PDP cohorts.
ReplyDeleteSame church leaders who refused to support a decent leader because he is a muslim now everyone want to be identified with him. GMB and his Vice should forget the church leaders, they are worst than our so called leaders wicked/selfish church leaders who refused to tell our past and present leaders the truth.
ReplyDeleteCorruption need to be fought if not it will be business as usual. EFCC can tackle corruption issue all the new government need to do is to strengthen the agency by sacking Lamorde and appointing a strong individual to head the department. The corruption issue can be fought side by side with other government policies. All the new government need to also do is to change the head of prison/immigration/customs employ competent officers, retire the old men and fix youths in those areas and also build new prison to accommodate our political elites. Nigeria need a strong leader who will fight corruption and build the country fortunately GMB is the man to do so. If corruption is not fought to it's minimal then we will continue to face same crises. GMB government can as well negotiate with people like Tinubu to release part of his wealth or be prosecuted. It's a deal some can strike with the in coming government and am sure it will surely work because Nigeria big men are scared of prison, government need to threaten some to get their way.
Government should scrap CAN and other muslim organisation because they are all political branch and not serving their purpose. Government should also stop spending money on pilgrimage both Christians/Muslims, anyone who want to travel to Israel or mecca should fund themselves.
NYSC is another department which GMB government need to scrap army officers in charge of camps maltreat students in the name of NYSC, it's also a waste of public fund another avenue by few to siphon money.
Count down to D-DAY, New leader, New Nigeria, better future for me and my kids. God bless FGN, am very hopeful of my beloveth country now than ever.
