TV Personality, Marcy Dolapo Oni has got her own talk show called “The Marcy Project”. It will air on DSTV's Africa Magic on the 30th of May 2015 at 17:00 CAT (4.00pm Nigerian Time). The show is a must-see.
Marcy Dolapo Oni started out her journey on TV as co-presenter of MNet’s TV show, ‘53 extra’and then she moved on to EbonyLife TV as co-host on Mo Abudu’s daily talk show, ‘Moments with Mo’. She continues to shine on TV screens across the entire continent of Africa as she interviews high profile guests and wows her fans engaging them daily with her wit, charm and charisma.
“The Marcy Project” is a 30-minute lifestyle and entertainment program with a mixture of web features, pre-recorded video footages and fashion tips. The show will feature interviews with upcoming acts and celebrities from various industries. In each episode, the host, Marcy Dolapo Oni will perform a quirky, captivating and intriguing project involving a task or challenge chosen by viewers, social media followers or guests.
In expressing her excitement about the show, Marcy Dolapo Oni says “I’ve always wanted to have my own talk show and I know I wanted something that would be true to myself as well as show a different side of me that people rarely get to see. The idea came about in December 2013 and I told myself my show would be on air by 2015.
The title “The Marcy Project” came before the idea of the actual show. Marcy being my first name and the idea of me participating in a weekly project to add that to the show. It feels great to see it all coming together”.
Marcy Dolapo Oni is a Versatile Actress, Media Personality and Master of Ceremony; She continues to shine on TV screens across the Entire Continent of Africa as she interviews high profile guests and wows her fans engaging them daily with her wit, charm and charisma.
She has worked globally with classical and contemporary material across all mediums - from stage and television, to radio - Crafting her Expertise in Entertainment.
Dolapo began her African Television Career in 2010, after a very successful acting career in the U.K, as the Lead Anchor on the Mnet show '53 Extra'. From there she was nominated amongst hundreds of contestants as one of the two chosen Co Hosts on Africa's number one talk show "Moments with Mo" which is Exclusive to EbonyLife TV; Africa's Premium Entertainment Channel.
This TV darling has interviewed some of the highest profiled celebrities worldwide. From musicians, actors, sportsmen to business moguls, such as Don Jazzy, Femi Kuti, Sean Paul, TY Bello to name a few.
She says, "The highlight of my career to date is interviewing Venus and Serena Williams. I'm a huge tennis fan and they have achieved so much. It was really inspiring."
As Nigeria's No 1 Female Master of Ceremony, Dolapo has hosted many high profile corporate and lifestyle events for companies such as Nokia, P&G, Africa Magic, Malta Guinness, Ebony Life TV Launch (with Dare Art Alade), Genevieve Magazine, Complete Fashion Magazine and The Future Awards.
She was chosen to Represent Nigeria as a VIP Guest on behalf of Moët and Chandon Champagne at the 2012 Roland Garros Tournament in France. She spent the first day in Epernay touring the Moët and Chandon headquarters, took part in wine tasting and showed off her culinary skills in a cooking class with a Michelin Star chef. The day ended for her with her attending the gala dinner at the prestigious 'invite only' Château de Saran. As a special guest Dolapo was treated to watching the women's semi finals, Sharapova vs Kvitova, at the French Open.
One of her most memorable acting roles was in the play 'Iya-Ile' (The First wife), produced by Soho Theatre/the Tiata Fahodzi Company in the United Kingdom. The stage piece was written by award winning playwright, Oladipo Agboluaje, who was also behind the short-film "Area Boys," shot in the bustling metropolitan city of Lagos, Nigeria. This play was nominated for the Most Prestigious British theatre awards, The Lawrence Olivier Award in the "Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre" category.
She was also cast in the BBC mini-series 'Vexed' where she was one of three members of a pop band. She played the character of Tina T, the heart and soul of the group. She then segued into the African industry because of her deep love for homegrown entertainment.
In 2011, she was cast as the 'Lady in Blue' in the Nigerian adaptation of the famous Broadway stage play 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf' by Ntozake Shange.
She immediately followed these performances, as a new addition to the cast of the hit South African TV- Series 'Jacob's Cross,' one of the most popular drama series in Africa. She played the part of 'Moremi Omotoso' - a woman who is passionate, liberated, strong and fights for what she believes in.
Dolapo has shared the stage with notable actresses like Joke Silva, Jenny Jules and Danny Sapani, and was well received for her lead role from seasoned theatre critics and worked with internationally renowned actors like Lucy Punch, Tony Stephens and Jude Akuwudike.
