CONSIDER NDIGBO FOR APPOINTMENTS, OBIANO BEGS BUHARI

Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano, has urged the President-elect, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (retd), to appoint Igbo into prominent positions while forming his cabinet.

He said the forthcoming Buhari’s administration would require the support of all Nigerians irrespective of their party affiliations to success.

Obiano spoke after a closed-door meeting with the President-elect at his private residence in Abuja on Friday.

The governor said he was in Abuja not only to congratulate the President-elect and reassure him of the support of the South-East, but also to plead with him to consider Anambra indigenes for appointments.

Obiano said, “I am also here to reassure him that Anambra and the South-East would support him. I also pleaded with him on some pressing problems that are of importance to the South-East like the second Niger bridge and some of the federal roads.

“We also pleaded in the area of appointment for the people of Anambra and of course, for people from the South-East be it ministerial, ambassadorial and what have you.”

BUHARI MEETS MAN WHO TREKKED FROM LAGOS TO ABUJA

President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Friday received Suleiman Hashimu, the man who claimed to have walked from Lagos to Abuja to celebrate the general’s victory.

Buhari, who expressed delight about the man’s feat, said, he, like most Nigerians, heard about the trekker’s journey and the goodwill he enjoyed along the way.

The President-elect said, “I heard so many stories that you wore out about half a dozen pair of shoes. But I also understand that there were people who were quite generous to help you to pay for more pairs of shoes, thank you very much indeed.”

Hashimu, who said he is from Buhari’s native Katsina State, said he embarked on the journey to fulfill a vow he made to God two years ago that he would embark on the journey by foot if Buhari won the 2015 Presidential elections.

He also presented a gift to Buhari and took a series of photographs to celebrate the occasion.

While responding to questions from reporters shortly afterwards, Hashim explained that from Lagos, he passed through Kwara and Niger States before arriving Abuja after 18 days.

He said, “I passed through Kwara State, Niger State to Abuja. I trekked from6:00am to 6:00pm. I started by six anywhere I found myself and by 6:00pm, I passed the night there. I spent 18 days.

“I found myself in the bush once and had to trek till 9:00pm to a nearby village. I am based in Ibadan. I started my journey from Berger in Lagos.”

In response to critics who doubt his claims, he said, “I made this promise between me and my God; I don’t want people to believe me. Believe me or not that is why I did not leave any evidence on ground.

“I made a promise between me and my God and I think right from Ilorin in Kwara State, I did not walk five kilometres alone; I always trekked with people.”- punch

    1. Igbos are their own enemies. They openly supported Jonathan for presidential elections. Why are they crying fowl now? Bunch of hypocrites. I am Igbo by the way but I supported, campaigned and voted for GMB. I am not an ethnic or religious bigot, I stand for change.

  6. Plateau PDP gubernatorial candidate should accept defeat and move on. How selfish is he to think that he can win this election. Has democracy become a monarchy in Plateau state? Even in the villages kingship is rotated from clan to clan. We rejected impunity on the Plateau. Go away with your Uncle Jang. Shame on you GNS

  7. I am very much worried with the fuel scarcity wahala. There has been pockets of queues here in Abj. Grim days ahead with President GEJ not making provision for fuel subsidy in the new budget. The burden of fuel subsidy remover falls squarely on the erect but fray shoulders of GMB. As much as I try not to be bothered with politics, there is no escaping it as the quality of our lives is a function of the action and inaction of these politicians. It's so hard to be a Patriot here.

    1. Very well said. A lot of last minute actions are being taken as this govt leaves, hence will make the incoming administration have a lot of inadequacies to handle in the first quarter of their assumption into office. This fuel issue being the numero uno issue. Well, I listened to GMB as he answered the question when asked if truly his administration is proposing a N40 per liter fuel pump price. And he said that those in the petroleum sector should know, and if they say it's feasible then it will happen. I rely on that promise

Mr Suleiman (trekker), a commendable feat indeed, now you've met the propeller of your endurance 'waka', you need all the rest you can get. Hope this yields a positive fruit for you.

Buhari said his gov't will be an inclusive one, I believe him for now. All these solicitations are unnecessary, my concern is getting the right and committed people to do the job.

Fuel scarcity? No pls Nigerians don't need that nightmare now.
