Three Nigerians, including President-Elect Mohammadu Buhari and #BringBackOurGirls Champion, Oby Ezekwesili, were on Thursday named in Time Magazine’s annual ‘100 Most Influential People’ in the world.
Boko Haram leader Shekau was the third Nigerian named!
He should also be celebrating now right?
I do not get it.....Why is time magazine celebrating the leader of Nigeria's terrorist group along side our President elect?Isnt that an insult of some sort?
I refuse to celebrate such and i just lost respect for their annual compilation.
Its their time. Support Saving Father............
ReplyDeleteI was wondering who the third person could be. So i kept scrolling down patiently. Waiting to see my Beloved President. GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan. Only for me to meet a wordless Friday Morning shocker. What the Hell is Shekau looking for in that list. Who is he influencing or who has he influenced positively. The Rape, The Kidnap, The bloodshed, his coveteousness? Tell me.
ReplyDeleteI am short of words. Will come back to read comments. LoBeach.
I was indeed surprised 2 say the least...Shekau been listed as one of the most influencial people is nothing short of an insult on the pedigree and image of Nigeria.....whether he was listed 4 unleashing terror or whatever is immaterial..
ReplyDeleteGbam you've said it all..
DeleteThese peeps can sabi fall person hand sha...it's an insult to us as a nation!! Like wtf..
In dia own summation, they think for u to tell someone to strap on explosives n blow up urself n oda people den u must wield a high level of influence on dem....but I think it's so add a terrorist to dat list.
DeleteIt shocked me to the bones. I honestly don't get it. I wonder why they didn't name Osama in his days
ReplyDeletethe author is an idiot to the core while put shekau there if Osama bin laden was included as of the time he was disturbing U.S no p
ReplyDelete#GODWIN
If Osama Bin laden is not on that list, a man whose action was enough for them to hold anniversary of death, he accomplished in one day what shekau did on many years...he shd be mentioned after Obama.... then they are above all people most miserable.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right.....
DeleteI don't think they mean influential in a good way. Nonetheless they should isolate the group of terrorists they term influential and not merge them with people of integrity. It's tasteless and awkward.
DeleteI don't even buy into their momentary evaluation of people of significance ... cos it's sometimes watery and baseless. Time Magazine or not. Same with the overrated Forbes
Wtf are dey naming shekau for? To what end? Does a terrorist deserve a name in such compilation? Something is telling me d western world has a hand in dis boko haram ish..Shebi they predicted nigeria will break up by 2015?
ReplyDeleteShekau? Can you imagine?
ReplyDeleteAm not surprised that Time magazine is celebrating Shekau(BH),afterall they are one of their sponsors...yes!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't they celebrate ISIS and other terrorist groups?
Buhari should keep romancing the US government...once he stops doing their bidding, they will discard him like GEJ!
Oby is so ugly and vindictive,I can't stand her!
Pinklady,I dare u 2 show ur pic n if u're prettier than oby I swear I'll give u 25k
DeleteSmh
DeleteNot nice to call another person ugly...even if u are prettier. it tells a lot abt ur person...besides that "ugly" woman is a wife to somebody n mother to some kids.
DeleteU cant use the word vindictive wen u havent had a close up experience with her...she has been fighting a cause most beautiful n flattering govt officials forgot about.

ReplyDeleteShekau? Hmmmm
Congrats to them
ReplyDeleteStella...individuals who make the TIMES 100 List are not celebrated in actuality. They make the List because their actions influenced a great many other people on a very large scale. The TIMES magazine simply takes note of these individuals in different regions of the world. For instance, Shekau the leader of BH had a massive influence by being a thorn in the flesh of the Nigerian government and the int'l community who had to deploy troops and resources to help. Oby Ezekwesili played a big role in sensitizing the rest of the world about the missing Chibok girls using the social media. I hope you remember the notable persons include Michelle Obama and several other int'l celebs who joined the #bringbackourgirls campaign. Then, as regards GMB(Sai Baba!), his 'movement' to get elected as President unruffled many feathers and this influenced so much reasonings and debate around the country, social media and the rest of the world. Hope U get the 'picture' now. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteWhat of Osama bin laden?
DeleteTj,wa gbayi
DeleteMrs D,do u remember when osama was killed at all?
No anon, I wasn't born...
DeleteLMAO @ No Anon,i wasnt Born....
DeleteOk
ReplyDeleteIs not really nice to celebrate great people with militant. It is an insult true true
ReplyDeleteGreat people? Where dem dey?
DeleteDon't mind them, the crazy shekau might not even be a Nigerian.
ReplyDeleteLet me Google the list and see who else is on it.
Very notable names in the list, which is classified into five categories: titans, pioneers, leaders, artists and icons.
DeleteUnfortunately shekau falls into the leaders category, because of how he led bh to be a torn in flesh of Nigeria and the world at large.
Definitely he has influenced his kind and people of like mind, albeit notoriously, it doesn't just feel right placing him side by side with the likes of Obama, Netanyahu, Buhari and co. Maybe times magazine should consider a separate list for his likes.
Well as Teejay said it's not about celebration, but impact.
Now u see why it took so long for America to tag BH terrorists...because once they do they become "celebrated" worldwide upon recognition as terrorists.
DeleteThis was what FFK was embittered about earlier in the BH wahala, America's refusal to tag them terrorists. And because Jonathan once called them 'our brothers".
Obama delayed it (tagging them a terrorist group) because of unnecessary recognition like what Times mag has just done. If America had ignored Shekau and his group and merely passed them as local hoodlums, they wouldn't have made it to the world list of feared terrorist groups like ISIS. This gives them a kick because it is what they desire, to be feared as terrors and to make world lists like this one.
The media also plays a huge influential role in the acts of terrorism. Albeit they have to report it, inevitably, but the more media attention they get, the more happy they are. Shekau would be glad. Very annoying
Time magazine is a sham already, just pay them and you will see your name there. And to say they list BH is so insensitive and disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteOby Ezekwesili influential?*holds laugh*
Whale may u choke on dat laugh,u obviously don't know what influential means fatso
DeleteIt's called influential, could be positive or negative.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the book of Buhari 1 vs 1 ...and let the change begin....I love you sir..God is great-Pst.Chekeleke
ReplyDeleteWhy shekau?can you imagine
ReplyDeleteIf you are mentioned as one of the most influential person on earth, just don't see it as any kind of achievement.Cause you might be a prostitute, arm robber, kidnapper, noise maker or even a BOKO HARAM LEADER! shit do happen!
ReplyDeleteI didn't hesperit...
ReplyDeleteThe award has no prestige .
