Mother Sells Her Child For 150,000 Naira.

Wow.....please pinch me!

According to The punch, The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recovered a baby boy, David Johnny, who was stolen by a doctor with the connivance of his mother, Esther Johnny, and sold to a woman in Abuja.

It was learnt that the mother initially denied knowledge of the crime as the police intensified efforts to unravel the whereabouts of the baby.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Akwa Ibom State, Mike Okoli, said this in Uyo on Tuesday.

He stated that when the police apprehended the doctor, he tried to frustrate police investigation into the matter.

He added that the police had to tell the doctor that they would charge him to court for child kidnapping if he failed to produce the missing child.

The CP said, “The police in Akwa Ibom State have rescued a baby boy, David Johnny, who was stolen when he was three-day-old and handed over to a doctor in Port Harcourt. The baby was subsequently taken to Abuja.

“When we found the doctor, he refused to cooperate as he tried to frustrate the efforts of the police in investigating the case of the stolen boy.

“My officers in the trafficking department moved from Uyo to Port Harcourt, Umuahia, and Aba in search of the stolen child.

“It was not until Wednesday, April 22, when the pressure became so much, that the woman who had bought the child, took the child back to the clinic in Port Harcourt, where she bought him, and abandoned him there,” he said.

According to him it was the phone call the woman, who had bought the child, made to the doctor who was in the police custody in Uyo that enabled them to trace the baby to the hospital.

He said, “The biological mother sold the child through the doctor to the woman for N300,000.”

Esther, 18, said David was her third baby and she could not take care of all of her children.

She said she was given N150,000 from the proceeds from the sale of her baby.

OMG!

Everyone was just raining curses/abuses on her. God indeed does things as He pleases.

"i go collect everybody statement for this matter" was the first thing Okoro had to say. The store manager told him the little he could, as Dabota could not put her words into coherent sentences.
"Madam all this cry wey u dey cry no go carry your pikin come out o. make you cooperate with me" Okoro said, sizing her up. " my daughter is missing. Charise Ala Gogo. she is four years old. i turned around to choose an apple for her over there and now she is missing" Dabota said pointing towards the fruit stand.
"wetin she dey wear? describe am" he asked writing or pretending to write down something on a scrap of paper
" a green gown with a tiara in front and the inscription baby princess and her pink barbie sunglasses" Dabota replied.
"tara? wetin be tara?" Okoro asked obviously confused.
"TIARA T I A R A" Dabota answered him looking even more confused.
" wetin be dat one? tiara" Okoro asked her looking around
"Oga na dat kain crown wey dem dey wear for beauty contest and wedding" one of the shop attendants explained to him.
"O crown na dat one you for talk na madam" he said scribbling some more "what of the father of the pikin you don call am?"
    "No" Dabota answered.
" make you better call am now. i no know how you go manage misplace your pikin for inside here. abi dem don kidnapp am?" Okoro told her, folding his scrap of paper into his front pocket. At the mention of kidnapp, Dabota wailed even louder.

  21. The lady should have gone through a legal process to adopt the baby and mother should have taken him to the orphanage if she can't take care of another child. An 18yr old girl having her third baby what do you expect stella

  22. N300,000? even a million dollars is nt worth the life of any child. That child might be a star tomorrow, ur blessing,ur open doors.

If you can bear the pain of childbirth to bring forth a child den be rest assured dt u can only pull through successfully in training them no matter d hardship.God will always raise helpers to ur rescue...This is outrightly heartbreaking abeg.

    1. Hypocrites. I know selling the child is wrong. But is it not better she gives the child a brighter future than she can give him and make him useful than flush like any BC that has ever had an abortion. Which is worse. She is giving the child up for adoption however it looks bad because she is getting paid for it. What if she had just abandoned the child on the road. Which would be worse?

It is far better than abortion..
Or killing the boy after birth.

Anyway...the law must take its course.

  25. But really, pls what is wrong in her selling the child? Is it because there is money attached to the process? Would you all have found it more appropriate if the headline was 'mother gives up her child after birth to a family in Abuja and family thanks her with a sum of 150k'? Don't people get paid to carry other women's children? Why the fuss? Who carry the matter to police sef? Abeg you guys should not judge this woman, na who wear the shoe sabi where e dey pinch. #peace

  26. Normal thing. It happens mostly in port harcourt though

  27. Abeg make judge mental peeps shut up their smelling mouth.the woman that bought the child needs a baby desperately.the process of adoption in Nigeria is killing.she no buy the baby for ritual, una don taste barrenness before? In port harcourt here they are a lot of couples who had their babies thru this apiam way.what I don't like is when they now go to church and testify say na dem born baby.they are very plenty.if the police will give a number to the public to secretly make reports kassala go burst.

  31. Hmmm, they said nothing about the father of the child, how is it possible to have 3 children by the age 18. She is obviously being abused, she must have started having kids from the age of 13. Who keeps impregnating her. Unless she is a six worker

    ReplyDelete
  32. If am the investigating officer, I will leave the child for the woman who bought him, atlest he will have a better life than been with this lady becos she might kill him out of frustration,

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's one of the effects of poverty in a nation.
I will blame the condition that led her into the act.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Y the outrage biko? Unless she killed the baby or sold to ritualists I don't see the reason for this outcry biko. Even the legal way of giving up babies involves the so called agencies selling the baby to the highest bidder. Abi is adoption free? Shebi adoptive parents go still pay govt plenty money. All na selling of babies. Does it make it any less of wat it is this woman did? She gave her baby out to someone who can train him and collected money. Isn't that the same thing these homes do? People will scream but won't help this woman out if she begs for funds to train her baby but will shout loudest if she take steps she feels is the only option for baby to have better life. Make I hear word biko
