Buhari On Chibok Girls

The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has said he does not know if the kidnapped Chibok girls can be rescued because their whereabouts is still unknown.

He, however, promised that his government would rescue them if they were still alive.

Buhari said this in a statement to mark the first year anniversary of the kidnap of 276 schoolgirls from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State by the extremist Islamic sect, Boko Haram on April 14, last year.

In the statement which he personally signed on Monday, Buhari said, “As we remember the kidnap of the girls, it is time to reflect on the pain and suffering of the victims, their friends and families on account of the heinous crime.”

The President-elect assured Nigerians, particularly the parents of the missing girls, that when his administration “assumes office at the end of May, it will do everything it can to defeat Boko Haram.”

According to him, his administration will act differently from the government it is succeeding adding that, he will not only listen to the cry of anguish of citizens, he will also respond accordingly.

Buhari said, “This new approach must also begin with honesty. We do not know if the Chibok girls can be rescued. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

“As much as I wish to, I cannot promise that we can find them. But I say to every parent, family member and friend of the children that my government will do everything in our power to bring them home.

“What I can pledge, with absolute certainty, is that starting on the first day of my administration, Boko Haram will know the strength of our collective will and commitment to rid this nation of terror and bring back peace and normalcy to all the affected areas.” - Punch

I cant wait for Buhari to be sworn in.....May 29th should be really interesting,I can already smell and feel the change..People are scared all over.I hear those who hid his certificate are shivering, those who embezzled monies have pee-d in their pants...Boko haram should be shivering now where ever they are!

Hmmmm Boko Haram change is coming to your camp!

Chibok girls saga is scam, just to finish GEJ.

    2. Stella, contrary to what many think, I do not think that Buhari will assume office to use his power as president to leverage those who've wronged him personally. Unlike what many are saying that he'll jail those who campaigned against him, I think that's not true. He won't do that.

Those who should be worried are those embezzling monies. The man doesn't have time for such frivolities of settling unnecessary personal scores. If u haven't done anything there's nothing to worry. He's not a dictator but a democratically elected president. Protocols will observed. Lest we fan the ember of chaos

People feared idiagbon more than buhari, the generals that overthrew buhari waited till tunde idiagbon went to Hajj before carrying out the coup and it was the most peaceful coup cos buhari just left. So any Nigerian that is hoping to see such laws enforced should be ready for disappointment, I am very indifferent about this man

absolutely the "change"! This was exactly one of your
campaign promises! You plainly said this in Imo State
that you'll make sure that the girls return to their
parents! Now see what you're saying! Nigerians
never see anything! Shey they want "change"! Oya
now! When an American think-tank said it that it
doesn't see anything viable the "opposition APC will
do better than than the ruling party" everybody
thought it was a joke! They rightly said that the
opposition only have a single manifesto and that is
just to wrest power! And that's exactly what it looks
like now! This brain dead president-elect used his
mouth to say that he will make sure that the girls
return to their parents once he takes over power!
And here he's back-tracking! Ok nah! Am watching
you! Remember you said that you're gonna make
1naira to be equal to $1! You said you'll make a
barrel of Oil to get back to $110, am waiting on you
for that! You said you'll pay all unemployed
graduates stipends every month! You said all school
children will be entitled to free meal on all school

He said political office holders will declare their assets, thats not important one bit, I can constantly leave my acct at 900k for 4yrs, makin little deposits n withdrawals, n my account in cayman island which NOBODY knows abt reads billions, that is by the way.
The greatest tool of the bokoharamists is illiteracy. Give an educated southerner, even d ones that just stopped school at primary level..semi-literates money to blow up himself in d mkt square, he will either sublet d contract or go der early n drop the bomb and disappear. He shd tackle the problem of stark illiteracy in the north. You cant tell me that 72 virgins are waiting for me, so lemme die. How????
Pick up those almajiri children, train them, build schools for the women if you dont want them mixing with men.
See, Nigerians are tired of empty tall promises. Tackle education, electricity, security abeeeg!

  34. I feel for the parents of those kids, imagine not seeing your daughters for a whole year. Just imagine such kidnapping happening at south south or south east or south west, one can't imagine the anger that will come out of Nigerians but everyone has been mute the past year after few months of protests. Our present government really messed up and chibok is one of their blunders, they neglected the northern states for 4years with issues like Boko and Chibok they truly deserve the good price they paid last month. Even with all their lies promising to rescue the girls sometime telling us some are rescued all lies. My respect to Madam Oby well done ma you are a true mother, i hope GMB administration fix you into a post we want you back in the new government.
I urge GMB and his administration to make sure those kids are rescued without excuses they are our citizens.
So much anxiety within the elites after his election win, heads will roll and I can't wait for him to resume office. We will have a better leader with Buhari because he is coming back to lay a good foundation for our country my only worries is how he will have grasp on Tinubu & co. We the citizens are the only once that suffer our government lies, they push us against each other with tribe and religion politics.
The elite do not want Buhari to rule because it won't be business as usual for them. Just check out Dangote's rushed visit to Buhari as soon as he won election, Dangote looked like a house boy behind Buhari with General Abubakar beside. He shamelessly went to give Buhari last minute support as if he wanted him in power while supporting PDP the past years. Buhari need to cut down his monopoly in all businesses because that man has ruined a lot of business men's opportunities with his monopoly and business tactics through government patronage the past years. He frustrated Ibeto cement and made the guy lose billions, you can't find ibeto cement in Lagos and other states unless some eastern states while dangote cement is spread all over the country.

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari: Statement on the first anniversary of the kidnap by Boko Haram of 276 schoolgirls from Chibok

“Today we remember the kidnapping of 276 girls from a school in Chibok one year ago. This crime has rightly caused outrage both in Nigeria and across the world.

“Today is a time to reflect on the pain and suffering of the victims, their friends and families. Our thoughts and prayers, and that of the whole Nigerian Nation, are with you today.

“I want to assure all of them, and particularly the parents, that when my new Administration takes office at the end of May, we will do everything we can to defeat Boko Haram. We will act differently from the Government we replace: we hear the anguish of our citizens and intend to respond accordingly.

“This new approach must also begin with honesty. We do not know if the Chibok girls can be rescued. Their whereabouts remain unknown. As much as I wish to, I cannot promise that we can find them. But I say to every parent, family member and friend of the children that my Government will do everything in its power to bring them home.

“What I can pledge, with absolute certainty, is that starting on the first day of my Administration Boko Haram will know the strength of our collective will and commitment to rid this nation of terror, and bring back peace and normalcy to all the affected areas.

““Boko Haram” means “Western Education is Sinful”. When they are defeated militarily, as they will be, we will ensure our citizens in the affected areas have improved educational opportunities as a direct counterbalance to Boko Haram’s twisted ideology. In particular we will educate ever more young girls ensuring they are empowered as citizens of Nigeria.

“Let us use this anniversary to remind each other that the attack on Chibok was an attack on the dreams and aspirations of our young people.

“We stand united in our pledge to resist terror in Nigeria– not just through military means but also through the power of opportunity and the hope of a better future for all”.

    General Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR)

    President-elect, Federal Republic of Nigeria

'I will make the country ungovernable' 'there will be blood shed on all the streets'. This is no more the case, thanks to our HERO PRESIDENT JONATHAN, so our girls will come back by God's Grace soonest.

  58. There is something I don't understand. If my child was one of the missing girls you better believe that I would have been in the forefront campaigning for the return of my child/children. This in itself is a little suspect. I can't believe nigerians are not questioning this.
